The Unstoppable Force Meets the Immovable Object: A Trip Report - UPDATED 7/25/11

WOO HOO! You did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

party:

I just love your descriptions of the course, and the whole experience. Awesome update!

You are a better person than I am for finishing the race (I would have given up at the first mile).

I'm no better than anyone else, I just found the inspiration to finish. And, I think, were you in the same place I was, you would've too. The energy given off by all of the people running was amazing!

WOW simply WOW!! Congrats to you Tink!!! What an accomplishment!!! I was cheering right along with those other people as you wrapped up this race, it was like I was really there!!!! What an inspiration....thank you so much for sharing this race with us!!!

Thanks. I hope, come 2013, we're cheering each other on and approaching that finish line together!

The kids I watch are asking my why I am crying.:goodvibes

Awww... Happy tears, tell them, happy tears.

What a great narative. YOU DID IT!!! Awesome!!! More misty eyes over here.

Thanks. It really was an awesome feeling!

I realized, as I was doing the race, that it was something I'd want to remember as much of as possible, so I really try to absorb it all and commit it to memory.

Great update! I had tears in my eyes as I read your great descriptions of how you felt both physically and emotionally as you finished the race! What a great accomplishment for you and tribute to TK's mom!

When I read your post yesterday, it made me cry. I'm a little weepy with the boy turning one and all and thinking of Mom.

Dude, I was proud of you then and I'm proud of you know.

Thank you, thank you, a million times thank you. It was an amazing tribute to my mother, and a wonderful way to honor yourself, and all that you are.

I still smile all big and goofy when I think about it!

:hug: I heart you. ::yes::

I HAD DONE IT!
Ironically, I said the EXACT same thing once. Also in Epcot. And I was also breathing very hard and was very tired when I said it.

But there was no medal for me. Sad.

Great update, Stink!

:moped:

Y'know, I wanted to cross just a tad back over the finish line and re-cross it, WITH you. But the otherwise smiling and friendly CMs wouldn't let me.:sad2: As a matter of fact, once you crossed that finish line, you were instructed to keep moving away from it. "No!...not good!....what are you doing?!"pirate:

Dear Disney/WWoS CMs,
You don't seem to understand....
I need to be there with my Nik when she crosses this line.
It'll just take a second and we'll be on our way.
Kthxbye,
Maria

At least I managed to sneak in close and catch your celebratory moment.:cloud9:

Too bad they don't hand out Pina Colavas at the end.

.

I just read this whole thing in one sitting as I'm contemplating running my first 5k in a little over a month!! Granted, it won't be at Disney, that comes in January, but inspiring, none the less!

Unfortunately they don't give out medals for Total Bathroom Destruction.
The Waterslide Olympics, on the other hand...they're also considering a new event: The Maelstrom Fastpass Dash.

On a side note, I just want you to know I was listening to live365 the other day and Wishes came on. Every time I hear it now, whether live or not, I think of your little Voice of Wishes...who mustn't be quite so little anymore!

Don't you love the passive-agressive stance they take when they're trying to enforce the rules AND maintain they're Disney face. Sometimes it looks like they're heads are going to pop. LOL!

P.S. Also, scaling the Jack Sparrow float in the Boo to You parade is moutaineering, not premeditated, attempted kidnapping.

P.P.S. The revamped PeopleMover spiel? Not so good, akshully.

Too bad they don't hand out Pina Colavas at the end.

LORD! Can you imagine what THAT finish line party would look like?!

DISers Gone Wild Part 7: I Don't Know Where My Race Shorts Went

I love me some 5Ks. They're the perfect distance. Up until this point I hadn't done one with a pacing requirement but it all worked out. I used to want to work up to a 1/2 marathon but I don't know anymore. I really like this distance and kind of just want to see how well I improve on my time with each race.

I presume you came back WITH your shorts. ;)

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2: Oh my goodness, the visual that just popped into my head is unreal!

Welcome to my world (and World).

Is it the DIS Dads in the tutus who are missing their shorts?

Now THAT'S a visual! Whoa.

Joining in late, love your report!

Welcome, and thanks!

Poolside at AKL would be a great place to enjoy one!

BF has come around but it's taken many, many years. And he's still not as in love with the World as I am. But he gets it and he's happy to see me enjoy myself, even if it's a solo trip.

Hoping for more updates this week. I had a 5-day vacation from work and took a little internet vacation too. I have a pic I need to scan for the next chapter. Have to muck around with my printer/copier/scanner to get that done. Hope all is well with my readers - posters and lurkers alike!

I was behind....like the whole thing! :confused3 I must have subscribed with intentions to read right then and there, but ran out of time. Who knows! I'm caught up now.

You've already had me crying twice.

Time #1:

"Mom, we're going to do this. YOU are going to do this. I know you can. You are going to be able to get through every mile. And I'm going to be here right by your side every step of the way. Take a sip of water, Mom. You're amazing. You're doing a great job. Look, we just did ONE MILE! You're going to do this mom. We're going to do it together and then? Then you don't have to do another thing on this vacation if you don't want to."

Time #2:

As I turned that corner and, as promised, saw that finish line, all I felt was elation. And pride. And excitement. And magic. Every step that pounded under me got me closer and closer and, for a moment, I felt a hitch in my chest and the real feeling of tears. I was going to do it! I took a deep breath to dispel the tightness in my chest, checked my pace to a steady jog, and broke out into a big smile.

10 Feet

I did it for Kat’s mom!

And then, simply…

I HAD DONE IT!

YOU DID IT!!!!!!! :yay::yay::yay: Awesome, awesome job!

And that weird turn-around thing near the International Gateway was probably for the tram they used to have that ran from the YC/BC/BW to the IG.

I do want to run a Disney race. I was thinking the 1/2 in February, but I'm not entirely sure that will work out. Perhaps that 5k in 2013....:scratchin
