The Unofficial STROLLER Thread

I know I said in an earlier post that I was buying the Zooper Twist...but I'm really having second thoughts and seriously looking at the Joovy Kooper. Anyone have the Kooper...thoughts? Also, the Mia Moda Cielo Evolution. Ugh...I cannot choose!!!!
The Zooper Twist was also on my short list. My top three were the Zooper Twist (in the end, it just didn't have any appeal for me personally, but I think it would have worked out fine), the Mia Moda Cielo Evolution (LOVED this one, the small fold, the cool look, the value of this model...didn't love the sunshade, it seemed small in comparison to the other two in my top three) and finally the Valco Buggster.

I just placed an order last night. I finally went with the Buggster because of the extra large sunshade, the included UV/bug cover, the rain cover and the foot muff. I also liked the styling of this one more than the Zooper Twist (looks wise, it's more unique). The Buggster and the Cielo Evolution were my top two, the only reason I went with the Buggster over the Cielo Evolution was the whole sunshade size issue I was having. We do a lot of walking outside (and I really wanted a great "park stroller for WDW as well) so having the sun out of my little guy's eyes and off of his tender skin was a big plus for me.

Sorry, I know that doesn't help so much "directly" with your question, but maybe you might want to add to your decision troubles  and check out the Valco Buggster as well. ;)

I looked at the Kooper in babies r us and I really liked it. It did seem a little short. Im 5'9. I ended up going with the Buggster as well. All the extras are great. Push is awesome and umbrella fold. Also good recline.

I'm only 5'2 and DH is 5'7...he says 5'8 but I don't think so! I really love the Buggster too...but was hoping only to spend what I would of spent on a rental. $200 or so.

Then I think you would like the Kooper. The basket is better than the buggster and that had me almost buying it for that alone. It feels very solid, folds great and the fabric is really nice. It was a hard choice for me between the two. The only reason I got the Buggster is it felt like the handles were just a bit higher and I could get it it in orange. :)

Thank you so much for your opinion DaisyLove. I have called every B-R-U around me and no one carries it in store. I really feel better about seeing it in person and trying it out...but I don't think that is going to happen for me. Hearing your thoughts on actually seeing it...is it as easy to maneuver as the manufacturer and some reviewers reported on the BRU website? I guess the only other problem I would have with it is that it does not have a rainshield. I'm going to contact Joovy today and see if they make a universal one for their strollers. Like I said...like the Buggster...but a little more than I would like to spend. Again, thank you so much for your thoughts.

Has anyone ever brought a stroller ON BOARD? (Not gate checked)

I was looking at NWA website and it says this:
"Strollers: One fully collapsible umbrella-style stroller may be carried onboard, in addition to the carry-on luggage allowance. Strollers are only allowed on board the aircraft if approved storage space is available."

Just curious.

Question for the P3 owners. One website said it had a small board in back for a child to stand on. But that's the only site I've ever heard that mentioned.

Can anyone verify this?

My PP Pliko P3 (bought in 2006) has little foot pads on the back. I have used them before with friends kids. If the child is very short, they will not be able to see forward well if the hood is on the stroller. (easy to see with the hood removed) Taller children will have no problems seeing.

Here's a photo of the foot pads:

Thanks for the P3 info. Sounds like something I may look into when having another child. DS will be 4 probably and a double stroller seems like overkill for a newborn and a 4yr old.

Another thing to bear in mind is that nobody can stand on the foot pads if the seat is reclined. :headache:

Your welcome! I only pushed it a little in the store and it seems really great and effortless to me. Just get a generic rainshield. They can be really cheap. I have a protectabub and it is great.

It might cost the additional $25.00 to ship.

Buy new. IMHO

For those with double jogging strollers, what do you do for a child tray to hold your children's drinks/snacks? I LOVE our new Baby Jogger, but I'm wondering where to keep drinks and snacks! Thanks!

For the person looking at the Mac - someone told me that the older mac's (possibly even last year) might not have the carry strap. I am not sure about that but I would be sure to check just in case. I am thinking about getting one but have to sell enough on ebay first.

Volos and Triumphs have always had carry straps.

2008 was the first year that Quests had carry straps (previously they had a carry handle on the frame).

Having carried my volo on my shoulder from BWV to the front of Epcot, I cannot imagine carrying my quest

I have a couple of stroller ??s

1) Has anyone gotten a stroller even for a 6 year old? My son has some issues that my result in meltdowns and I am wondering if it would behoove us to rent a double stroller. He's a BIG 6

2) I ahve a 4 year old dd that I won't hesitate getting a stroller for

3) the two of them in one double is a recipe for disaster.

How do you work it with your kids this age?

I know it costs a lot for stroller rentals but price isn't a consideration in planning according to our needs. I would love some imput. Would we look ridiculous with kids this age in strollers? I'm just wondering if we're way far out and need to make an exit, I want to do what would be easiest for all of us.

Any insight much appreciated!

Julie

Hi everyone! I have read through several pages on this thread, but not all of them, so I may have missed the answer to my question.

We are traveling at the end of this month with DD8 and DD3. DD3 doesn't use a stroller anymore, and we gave all of ours away several months ago - before we decided to take this surprise trip. So, I know the little one will need a stroller, and I planned to rent the double when we arrived, giving us plenty of room and even a place for DD8 to sit while waiting for parades and such. BUT...I think the new prices are outrageous, and even if I didn't, DH will never pay that for 8 days. So, should I forget a stroller and just go at 3 year old pace, or invest? I've also heard through the grapevine that there are stroller swaps, but no clue how to get in on that, and I imagine at this short notice, it would be tough anyway. Any input will be appreciated, or any advice from someone who has tried Disney with a 3 year old without a stroller.
