The Unofficial STROLLER Thread

I have the baby trend sit and stand and it is about to go on it's 3rd trip to Disneyworld. We did customize ours a little and took the metal bar out from behind the front seat and replaced it with a velcro strap so we can lay the front seat down so the little one can fall asleep. This is a great stroller...:cool1:

how did you do this?

I just wanted to thank everyone on this board...it is such a wealth of info on strollers...and has been instrumental in my decision. I did go to BRU and try out the Maclaren Quest. The push was wonderful and definitely is a quality stroller. I ended up ordering an 08 Zooper Twist. This stroller is AMAZING. It has everything I was looking for, tray, sunscreen, movable hood...etc. I am so excited to receive it. Thanks DISers!!! Once again...to the rescue!!!

Well we are going on a disney trip from 12-23-08 until 1-2-09 I'm due on NOvember 3rd....and our son will be two...any suggestions on a double stroller...it has to be GRACO so that the car seat will fit in it for the baby...and I'd like one that BOTH seats recline enough for them to take a nap when they are both older....Thanks y'all

I just bought a Joovy Caboose. It is compatable with a Graco Car Seat in the front and your DS could either sit or stand in the back. My daughter is 2 and she loves her new stroller. I got in on www.allbeebaby.com for $149.99 with no shipping or tax.

How do you carry everything you need with a Maclaren, Joovy, Combi, Pergo stroller?

I have been to WDW 4 times using a full size stroller. I'm use to having cup holders, little compartment for glasses, putting a backpack or WDW black tote bag underneath and our big camera case (without tipping over!)

I want an umbrella stroller with all the full size perks! Help!

Traveling is DH, Me, DS (6) and DS (will have just turned 2)...

I always overpack and even while at WDW, usually bring more into the parks than I need. For the last 2 years, we have used a Peg Perego P3 and never had any tipping issues. I usually have a heavy backpack on the back too.

The P3 works well at WDW because of the large sunshade and comfy seat. It has most of the features of a bigger stroller but without being heavy and bulky.

My DD is also 2 and would still use the P3 for our next trip but I am stroller-obsessed and wanted to try something new. LOL So we are bringing a Baby Jogger City Mini. It also has a large sunshade but offers a super easy one hand fold which I need when it is just me and DD at night heading back to the resort on the busses. You just pull up on the strap on the seat and it is folded.

Another option is the Peg Perego Pliko Lite which many like even better than the P3 because it has a large, comfy seat. It does noty have a tray though but otherwise is very similar to the P3 but can be bought on AlbeeBaby.com for around $120. This is another that I am wanting to try!

I purchased the parent organizer for our Joovy and it can fit 2 drinks and has a pouch for glasses, photo passes, etc. There is a basket underneath. Granted it is not as high as a full size stroller, but it is a decent size. I like that is is a sit and stand and DD can choose where she wants to be. This has seemed to work better than requiring her to sit in the front. It could also work to allow your DS (6) to ride if he gets tired.

I think I like the Joovy Groove - it's more money than I wanted to spend since I just bought a stroller last year. I don't think I'll do a sit and stand...we will probably rent a stroller for DS6 - he gets tired easily and takes naps at WDW (we are a commando touring family;) )

Any thoughts on the Joovy Groove?

Forgot to update when I got back so here you go:

Peg Perego P3-loved it. Niece (4yr) and 43" tall fit really well in it. Large canopy :thumbsup2 , lots of room width wise. Nice height for handles and for her feet. She likes to let them hang down-not rest on the foot rest.

Maclaren Volo-was not available to look at

Maclaren Triumph- Niece fit in the stroller, but had no room width wise. Seat is not as high as the P3 so when she hangs her feet down they interfere with the wheels. Canopy is smaller. Lighter weight then the P3

Peg Aria- Could not do up the 5 point harness. Had to make it into a 3 point harness. It was nice also just didn't have the extras the P3 had like rear foot board (2nd passenger) and the ergonomic handles

I really like the Pegs over the Maclarens. They have more room width wise and look much more comfortable. I would have to get a Quest to get one that has the 2 position footrest (which I would use as my niece likes to let her legs hang). The pegs also come with a cup holder. My niece said she liked the Peg ones better.

To me the extra weight of the stroller is worth the comfort! I will be purchasing a Peg. Haven't narrowed it down yet. I'm still deciding between the P3 and the Plinko Lite.

I bought this stroller after reading reviews about it here on the dis boards too. I just got back from using it at Disney, and loved it. The only problem we had with it was the seat belt loosened very easy. My ds fell asleep in it alot. I would lay the seat back and move the shade all the way forward and he would be totally enclosed and blocked from the sun. I would unzip the back to reveal the mesh ventlation so he would have some air circulation. We ended up hanging the baggillini messenger bag off of the handles, and it never got tippy. We never had a problem locating it in stroller parking either, because there weren't any more like it.

Another thing I noticed while there was people with travel systems and using the carseat with the stroller. the poor babies were always screaming in the carseat from being so warm. So I would not recommend using the carseat w/stroller, if you are going to use the travel system stroller use only the stroller part.

we bought this Jeep double umbrella for our trip in May. Both sides recline and each side has a 40lb weight limit. It was $69. I really loved it.

I don't know...when we brought my son at 4 months, he was miserable in just the stroller portion of the travel system. He was still learning how to keep his upper body upright, and would constantly "list" to one side in the stroller. He much preferred being in the carseat - he was happier, more comfortable, and slept like a dream. After 2 days of trying to just use the stroller, we reverted back to the carseat snapped into the stroller because he was just so much more comfortable. Then again....we didn't keep him in in for a million hours either. We took a lot of breaks back at the hotel.

What a BEAUTIFUL pics of your girls!! Love it!!

Ok, I have a question. We got DD2 a Mac volo, I love this stroller. Plus we are going in Sept. Also we will have DS who will be almost 4mos. I have my
P3 and I LOVE this stroller. My dad wants a light weight and small fold strollers. We drive form OK to WDW. We planned on taking the volo and P3. Should I look at getting a Mac that reclines instead of the P3. I need one that has the best sunshade. He won't be sitting up yet. Just wanting an opinion? What would you use? Never been with a little baby.

We took our now 2 year old DD to WDW for the first time when she was 3 months old. We originally bought a Mac Quest to use for her. We bought it before she was born. She was the opposite of our oldest DD and was a teeny tiny baby. Even at 3 months, she was still tiny and the Quest wouldn't have worked well for her. The seat fabric was slippery on our model and the shade wasn't enough for her

So instead, we brought a Peg P3 and that was perfect for her. It had a nice. comfy seat that was enclosed for he plus the sunshade was great for full coverage. We also used a Rayshade for added sun protection as well. We used the P3 again when she was 15 months old at WDW and it still was a great stroller for her.

We have since sold our 2 P3's (loved and now I am regretting not keeping one of them) as well as our 2 Quests (we never used either one LOL...just never was the right stroller for her) and instead bought a Baby Jogger City Mini Single for our next trip where she will be 26 months old.

I am a bit stroller obsessed and currently have 8+ strollers (not even counting the 2 Quests and 2 P3's I just sold) JUST for our youngest DD!! LOL Oldest is 8 1/2 and nowhere near stroller-size. And I am still looking to try more. :rotfl2:

I just am still not sure what to do about strollers for the trip. My kids are DS4, DD3, DD1. We went to the zoo on a hot, humid day and DS 4 only lasted about 3 hours before he wanted to ride. Out comes 3 year old, in goes 4 year old etc. I really am worried the trip will be ruined by stroller battles. He is not going to want to walk all day, everyday. The problem is I only have a graco big old front to back double, a old graco single and a cheap flat folder that will not work. I am thinking about getting a mcclaren single so I can then use if for DD1 for the next few years. Then I would bring both the graco double and the single mcclaren. I think the disney buses will be a huge pain with the graco double, but I can't go out and justify two new strollers and I won't really be needing a double too often at home. I am thinking at least the mcclaren has the carry strap and my husband will have to deal with the graco but it seems crazy to bring two strollers. Renting would cost more than buying so that is out. Any recommendations? I can't figure out what to do but I am just picturing the 4 year old whining why can't I ride, it's not fair..this is supposed to be fun and I want to make it as easy as I can. This will be our first vacation in 8 years and based on our budget proably our last for a long time.

I have never had a double stroller or 3 kids...I hope this helps though...
I have a stroller for my youngest - it's a full size evenflo. We went last year when DS were 5 and 12 months. DS(1) used the evenflo and we got DS(5) a rental (single).
My suggestion is to rental a double stroller for your 3 and 4 year old, then have your 1 year old in a single stroller (maclaren or any other brand) I know that the rental fees went up but to me it might be worth it to rental the stroller then to have whining kids (I know my DS would whine.) You save a bit of money if you rent for the whole week. I think it will be hard with 2 home strollers and watching after your kids if you take the bus or tram...someone has to carry your 1 year old, right? Our plan when getting on the tram was I would get the stroller on, DH would carry the 1 year old and the bag(s), DS (5) would wake up to walk on. It was so difficult with that big stroller that I'm trying to convince DH to buy a Joovy or Maclaren because it folds up like an umbrella but all the perks of a full size.
Good Luck with whatever you decide. :flower3:

Stroller Update:

I needed something for DS5 & DS3 so I ended up getting the Jeep Twin that was posted above for about $55 from BRU. It was PERFECT!!! Very light, folded easily and very compact. DS5 is very tall and he was alittle tall for the seat but he managed to fall asleep in the stroller just fine.

I still prefer my Zooper for everyday use but at 25+lbs, it was way to heavy to be dealing with on the buses.

Ok, I have some stroller questions:

We will be doing 1 day at MK, 1 day at AK, and 2days at SW.
We have one child and would only need a single stroller.

Question #1: Do the rental have storage space?
#2: Are the rentals comfortable for napping?
#3: What is the cost of rental for all three parks?
#4: Would I be able to hang a backpack on the handle?

Has anyone used the Jolly Jumper parent caddy on their Joovy sit n stand?

Look slike it could work for other strollers too. I have a Chicco C5 I'd like to toss it on for WDW.

Answers

1. Very little. They have a bag in the back that you can stick stuff in.
2. They don't fold down, but usually it doesn't matter for the kids. They are going to be so tired and pooped that they will go to sleep in it anyway.
3. $15 a day for a single stroller or $13 a day length of stay
4. I don't believe you can. I remember just throwing it on top of the shade visor.
