The unneccessary planning and scheduling

While that may work for you, it seems quite controlling to me.

How is something controlling if everyone in the party is game? Controlling would be forcing everyone to do what you want to do. Since you obviously do not know their situation, it doesn't seem fair to judge.

I posted a vent a while back about how tired I was of some of the people who thought it was "my way or the highway" on the DIS and I got flamed. But this is a pure example of what I was saying.

I didn't see the post that this is in reference to but, if I saw something like this and felt like you do, I would just think to myself that it was crazy. Maybe even mention to someone I know. But that's it. Going on here and actually creating a whole new post saying it was crazy is beyond unnecessary. If someone wants to plan something down to the minute, let them. If you want to fly by the seat of your pants while you vacation, so be it. But there's no reason to go out of your way and criticize someone's vacation on these boards. To each his own. :goodvibes

I just saw that you apologized earlier. Good for you!! Many would not have done that. :thumbsup2

I don't get it. I saw one woman who had their schedule set to the minute that they are going to get in line for Dumbo and how long it will take them to get on the ride and off(like that is really going to happen) I don't understand why people can't just enjoy it as it comes.

I have been going to Disney World almost every year since 1980 when my parents first started taking us. We have NEVER had a set schedule except for dinner show reservations, have NEVER done a single rope drop and I don't think there was a single trip that we didn't do everything that we wanted to do.

I can understand having a playbook to go by, especially if this is your first or only trip to the World, but many of those who do this crazy planning are repeaters.

I saw a lady with a 8x11 binder with at least 100 pages in it last trip. It was schedule after schedule after schedule after schedule. I didn't understand it either. We just make dinner ADR's and that's about it. Night before at dinner we do a bit of deciding on what park next day. That's about it. Our April trip next year is with our neighbors who have never been to Disney with thier kids. We are going to plan a bit but prob not much more than now.

hey different strokes diff folks. To each their own but it's just not me.

I dont plan down to the minute but I do look at crowd levels and plan our parks/ADR's around that as well as which night is the MSEP which we have missed on every other trip because we have stayed away from MK on every night it was offered because of projected crowd level... this trip we are going off the grid :) I am planning parks and water parks to fit OUR schedule and choosing ADR's that we want.... it should be fun!

I think for a lot of people the planning is fun. I used to do a highly scheduled plan and tour the parks commando style, but I don't any longer. I'm completely reserving judgment on the whole FP+ thing until I start thinking about a trip after the whole process is rolled out. :earsboy:

Having gone multiple times, I have an idea what I want to do in each park. I do visualize in my head what I will do at each park, but for me that is more for the anticipation of going as opposed to mapping out where I'll be at 1:45 pm on day 2. I also go during the quieter periods so that affords me the option of being more lax in my planning. As some say while I personally have no desire to plan the days down to a schedule, those that do don't affect me at all so my philosophy with anything is that if it doesn't affect me personally, then why would it concern me what someone else does?
