Sleepy said:I'm sorry, but how is this company different than most when it comes to salary employees? I mean, when you become a manageron salary pay, it does mean you work strange hours, work extra hours with no pay, miss out on family time, etc. My mother is not a store manager for Wal-Mart, but she is a dept manager who worked her way from PT cashier. Even as a cashier, she got wage increases that were more than I could have ever gotten working for comp businesses such as K-Mart, etc. As a Dept manager, she gets wonderful raises each year. She works mon-Fri during the day and has all weekends off. She gets holidays and sick days and incredible amount of vacation time. I don't know of many companies you could work for as a store manager and NOT be expected to move if they want you to. How many companies have insurance that is wonderful? Each year, benefits shrink with insurance. HMOs are becoming a pain in the rear. Don't even get me started with the military insurance! Don't get me started with the military PERIOD! Family time???? HAH! Your family was not issued to you while in bootcamp! Spend time with them when we tell you to spend time with them. All I am saying is your rant about Wal-Mart could fit the situation of most companies. Especially when you get into salary positions. Glad your husband found a job that fits your needs. My mother is quite happy with her job at Wal-Mart and I have to agree with her feelings. I have never had a job quite like that one.....pay, vacation, discounts, work hours, etc.
This was "our" experience with Wal-Mart. Your mom and other people may have better experiences but I am just stating what mine was and that is obviously what shapes my opinion just as your experience is what shapes yours or anyone else's opinion. Maybe there are some great Wal-Mart stores to work at but that hasn't been our experience with the stores around here.

At least Costco treats every customer fairly in asking for a receipt from everyone. At the few Walmarts I have been to, it is random, yet subjective
