As you know we are off for Christmas this year, this will be the first time we have been away from home for it, we always go somewhere for New Year, but never for Christmas. I have been dreading telling my nan who is 83, and not very good at adapting to changes, so I am ashamed to say I put it off and off. Decided to bite the bullet last night and tell her. She is amazing and never fails to shock me - her only comment was "Will those hurricanes have gone by then?" so I tell her yes "Well I much prefer that you go then so I won't have to worry about you, and I am sure that it will be very pretty" ! All those months of fretting and she is more bothered about hurrucanes, she is so funny .....

Aww, at least it is done and she is ok with you being away:goodvibes

Hey Jules,

It never fails to amaze me how we can be so wrong about people some times!

Like most grandparents I guess they just want you to be happy.

enjoy your vacation, i know you are going to have a good time. glad she is okay, with the fact that you're going away

Aww bless her, now you can start enoying your planning Jules :thumbsup2

Mandy :)

At least its done. I always worry about telling people anything. Nine times out of ten people are actually ok and understanding.

Have fun. Lucky you spending time with Mickey. I am really interested in this. I would love to take the kids to Disney at Christmas.

That must be a weight off your mind, Jules! So glad your Nana took it well... :goodvibes

oh bless her Jules, she's too cute! you're going to have a fab time now she's ok with it

Jules, my nan is 84 my dad was very worried about telling her about our trip, especially as we fly on Christmas Day, my dad is her only child too and there wasn't really anyone else close that she could go to - then my brother stepped up and said that she could go there so my Mom and dad took her a McFlurry (she loves them) and told her the other day - she was great about it and was happy to be going to my bro's house too. I guess we should never have worried. Glad that your Nan took it well too! :)

Bet you feel better now you have told her though Jules, you can now, relax and enjoy all that wonderful planning, most importently- where in your suitcase your going to fit me!!!!;)

thats rights Gems, I remember we were going to have a joint coming out party !

Bless!

What a relief  I think the only other person we need to 'come out to' is my Dad but he won't even think about Christmas 'til the week before so I'm not too worried!

It will be our first Christmas away or even on our own.

See you there hopefully

Isn't it silly Jo, I totally worked myself up about it and she was fine. I know that I am "all grown up" now and should be able to do what I want when I want, but I still felt really bad in case she got upset. Turns out she can't wait to get rid of me :rotfl2:

I really hope we are going to see you there

;) Now I don't remember agreeing to that Jules! :lmao: :lmao:
I am so glad that they both took it well!
