The TRUTH About Packing for JANUARY (and FEB)

We just got back today from 8 days at POP.

The truth is....pack a little of everything.

We wore shorts some days. It was low 80's & we went to Blizzard Beach twice.

One evening was cold...we wore our Lands End fleece jackets, DS7 wore his winter hat, DD11 & I wore our earbands.

I did bring several turtlenecks, which I never wore because I wore my Disney sweatshirt instead...& I wore that each morning until about lunchtime.

Everyone is right. Be ready for anything and layered clothing is your friend.
As a former cast member, I remember having different ideas about what was warm. One Jan. day it was in the upper 50's. I had on pants, turtleneck, peacoat, hat, the works. I was freezing! A lot of guest, however, seemed to find the weather warm. It's really whatever you're acclimated to. Now, I would find upper 50's rather nice. . . :sunny:

Thanks all....I whish my nephew had a computer so I could sent this thread to him.....he *thinks* he'll be wearing shorts and tank tops all week! :rotfl2: I'm glad his mom will have some say in his packing....Or I'd wind up spending a mint on clothes for the boy!

Wow, zip-off pants, I never thought about those. Were could I find them. We'll be there Feb. 3-8
Check out Target. A couple of weeks ago they had some for boys, not sure about infant sizes.

I'm in fl. now Rain today and tomorrow then high is low 60's and very windy, low's are mid 40's and windy. Burr!!!

I agree with the OP - we were there Jan 15-19 and it was warm enough some days for shorts and cold enough at night for light jackets. I wouldn't wear a winter hat or a parka but jeans with a sweatshirt or light jacket were necessary. Of course I live in the "ice box" of NJ and don't bother to wear a coat most of the time - just run from the car to the building  We left in a snow storm and didn't wear coats to the airport. We didn't swim on this trip but plenty of other people did and don't forget the hot tub :goodvibes

I'll take Orlando weather over NJ weather any day :sunny:

PsiPrez - We love the Brew-Ha-Ha in Budd Lake- just can't wait for that smoking ban to take effect and we will be there a lot more often :goodvibes

i went in December and i packed mostly pants and a few pairs of shorts. i never ended up wearing the shorts. i packed some t-shirts and tank tops, wore those, but i also packed sweatshirts. i tied them around my waist during the day but they came in handy at night! at one point i even ended up wearing 2 sweatshirts, my gloves and my scarf. it can get pretty cool down there somtimes, don't let those palm trees fool you!

:rotfl2: "ice box"
When people ask where we live, I say "You know when the weatherman says 'no accumulation, except north and west of the city, where you can expect 8 inches or more' ? That's the place."

And yeah, I can't stand the smoke in Brew-Ha-Ha either! :smokin:

We were there Feb.1-7 and I think we hit it all. We got off the plane and put shorts on. By evening we were in pant and sweatshirts. Day 2, it was 80 and we went to BB. Sweatshirt and shorts for Fantasmic. Day 3, RAIN. We were in pants, t-shirts, light jackets and ponchos. Day 4, morning rain. Pants and capris, t-shirts and sweatshirts on and off. Day 5, pants, long sleeve shirts and t-shirts. Day 6, shorts, t-shirts and sweatshirts on and off.

What really helped us with the kids was that they each had zip-off pants so we could start the day in pants, go down to shorts mid-day, and then zip the bottoms back on at dinner.

Hope this helps.

We are going the 19th-24th...plan on bringing a few pairs of pants, some capris and lots of layers for the top! Hopefully we can get one warm day so we can go in the pool! :sunny:
