Part 16: Haunted Mansion

Yes, I ride Haunted Mansion all alone, in the dark. It’s creepy, but so fun! I love it!

Next time I’m going to use a different lens. I have one that’s faster, I don’t know why I didn’t use it more often. I used it all the time in DL, so it’s weird that I didn’t at WDW. Well, not weird, because I’d bought a new lens in the meantime, and that was a great lens too, just not quite as fast.

I also bought a corn dog around here, to see if it was going to be as good as the corn dogs in DL. My thought was that it was smaller. It was okay. But I’m not a huge corn dog fan. Blanche should have been there to help make the call.

Part 17: Splash Mountain
My first thought of the queue this time was that Blanche would have to use the accessible line because there are tons of stairs in this queue. When I got to the front, the CM asked if I wanted front row seats, and I showed her my camera and asked to not have the front row. She had me step aside, let someone else in the front and put me in the back of the next log. Thank you, wonderful CM.

Was this picture from the queue in Splash Mountain? I can’t remember!

Part 18: Pirates of the Caribbean

I cruised on through the queue of Pirates, right hand side, and didn’t see a soul until I found the CM. I got on a boat, all alone, and it was the creepiest POTC ride I’ve ever been on. I didn’t see anyone until I got off the ride. There were empty boats in front of me, empty boats behind me and no one with me! I was seriously spooked. I was scared they’d shut down the ride, forgetting that I was on it, or that if something happened, they’d forget I was there! I knew nothing like that would happen, but in the middle of the night, all alone on Pirates, crazy thoughts pop into your mind!

This was the part where I started getting a little bit more scared than usual. I do read the Kingdom Keepers Series (started with Disney After Dark), so you can understand why being alone can play with my imagination. I don’t want to come across any overtakers! LOL

It was time to head out of the park, so I decided to stop for more Castle pictures! Seriously, I had to make up some ground. On my first ever trip, I was shooting film and I wasn’t a good photographer, but I somehow managed to take only one or maybe two pictures of Cinderella Castle. I do not understand that. So ever since, I’ve felt extremely guilty and I just take pictures like crazy to prove my love for her! LOL

We interrupt the regular scheduled programming for the following news:

1. Report cards are due in on Friday, so I probably will not be updating until they are submitted.

2. I booked my flight to Florida! I'm going back!!! I will be going for our March Break week. The good thing about the flights are that they are DIRECT! The bad thing is that I have to drive to Halifax. (3-3.5 hour drive, plus gas, bridge fees (to get off my lovely Island) and parking at the airport.) Another bad thing is that they cost me almost $800. That's over $300 more than I paid for the trip in July. I'd rather fly direct out of my local airport, but there are no airlines doing that, so I can't! LOL My sister and her family are hoping to join me and we'll get a suite at Art of Animation. If they can't make it, I think I'll get a Little Mermaid room at AoA.

I'm so excited! Only, just after I booked, I got an e-mail telling me (I think, the e-mail wasn't extremely clear to me... well, it was clear, but I missed the one that actually stated I was chosen) that I was chosen to be a volunteer at World Youth Day in Rio next summer. I will now be traveling to Rio and possibly staying there for a month! I'm not cancelling Disney, I will just be making some changes in my life (and on the Disney trip) to save some money. But still, there will be MANY pictures to come for the next TR too. Don't worry!

July 21, 2012 Part 1: Breakfast and the start of our day.

We got up and got ready. I have no problems getting up early at WDW! I was just too excited to get going for the day to worry about lack of sleep. I knew we could take a break anyways, so I wasn’t too concerned. After making sure we were our beautiful selves, which is not that hard (hahaha), we headed out to breakfast. I, of course, being me, snapped some shots on the way to Riverside Mill.

July 21, part 2: He called the head of security on me!

Then we went in to browse some of the shops. This was a totally different trip, slow, relaxing and wonderful. All the trips were wonderful, but this was nice to relax and take some time and not go so commando.

He was calling Mickey to tell him to watch out for me because he asked Blanche what happened to her foot and she said I kicked her and broke it! It was funny because he described what I looked like, what I was wearing and everything. He then told me that I should stay away from Animation Academy because that’s where the Boss was today. LOL

Off to Starring Rolls for a snack. We love our snacks. And we’d never been to Starring Rolls, so I was excited to try it out.

Yes , we shared another Napoleon. This top was easier to eat than the one at Epcot, but with a knife, the one at Epcot would have been fine. I am not a big icing fan… most of the time. This was fine.

We then went to see the Voyage of the Little Mermaid. We sat in the front in an accessible area. Blanche didn’t like that, but I said we were allowed, but if we felt someone else needed it, we could move for them. No one else came in that needed it. It just made more sense for her to be able to stretch it out comfortably.

I love the Voyage of the Little Mermaid. But then again, I’m a huge fan of the movie. The front row is a great spot to sit, to stretch out your legs and enjoy the show, but it’s not the best spot for getting great pictures.

We figured it wasn’t too much longer for our fast passes to open up, and we didn’t want to waste too long, since we had some lunch ADRs to get to, so we decided to wait around the area for our time.

We went through the line and got to ride in the accessible car as the stairs were too much for Blanche. To be honest, these cars are much easier, as they have a button to push AND the string to pull, you can chose! The button is a lot easier to press than the string is to pull.

Looks like Blanche is more accurate, but I shoot faster because I had the higher score. Not by a whole lot though.

We were heading to 50s Prime Time Café for lunch. I had really, really loved the chicken last time and we’d decided we were going to share.

I found it odd that they took it out on one plate. I had just assumed they would have charged a split plate fee and divied it up for us. Oh well. It was still delicious. Okay, now looking at this picture, it’s making me want to go back! For the chicken! LOL

After lunch, we decided to head back to the hotel for a rest. I knew I could use a rest after the EMHs the night before, so I didn’t mind!

I snapped a few shots in the windows on the way out. We liked the sewing stuff, because it made us think of my sister (aka Rose, the third Golden Girl). Rose sews doll and people clothing. She’s going to make me a princess dress for Halloween. We have the pattern for Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella. I think I was Snow White first.

Great updates! I can't wait to take my four year old daughter to see the Voyage of Little Mermaid next summer...she loved the Little Mermaid ride at Disneyland last summer and am sure she will love the Little Mermaid show. I decided to get off at POFQ, both to take some pictures, and to use their facilities! LOL We wanted to find something from POFQ for Rose, since that was where we’d stayed on our first trip as the Golden Girls. I figured it was beautiful out, so I could wander around the resort taking some pictures and then walk up to our room for a nap.

I did buy Rose something. I went to the pool bar and found a cute little plastic drink glass that had POR and POFQ on it. I bought one for her, and now I regret not getting one of my own too! Oh well. I guess that means I have to go back another time. Disney really should have more resort themed merchandise. I don’t understand why they wouldn’t, I think they’d be quite popular!

I played the game with the Alligator. The guests all around kept watching and laughing… well, maybe I screeched and jumped and giggled, so I might have been a little entertaining. But ask Rose and Blanche (If they ever come read the TR!) I do that! It was not a show!

I met Blanche at the room, and we had a nap. After a little bit, Blanche woke me up and told me that the ceiling was leaking! We were on the ground floor and there was a drip coming from the vanity area ceiling. She called the “front desk” and then I went down. The only other ground floor room in the Mansions was in Magnolia Terrace in a Garden View Room. We got a credit back for the difference, since we’d had a pool view (even though we couldn’t see the pool). And it stank! Literally. It had a disgusting odor! I can’t even explain the odor, but it smelled almost chemical like it had been recently VERY cleaned. So we went back and told the front desk. But they had nothing else for us; Blanche didn’t want to stay in Alligator Bayou. I can’t remember what we did after that. We went somewhere because we wanted to see if the stench would go away. I didn’t take any pictures for the rest of the day, so that’s the big reason I can’t remember anything! LOL I’ll have to find my receipts and fill you in from that. Receipts are helpful!

July 22, 2012, Part 1: The Grand Floridian

Our room smell was slowly fading away, but each time I entered the room, I could smell it. I guess it was more that I was getting used to the smell than the smell was fading.

This was the morning we were heading to 1900 Park Fair for breakfast. I think we’d said we would take whichever bus came first between MK and Epcot. If I remember correctly, it was MK and we took the monorail over to the GF.

We stayed at the GF in 2010 and we loved it. We still talk about staying there again and relaxing at the resort more. We were shopping so much that we barely had time to enjoy the resort.
