The very minimal cast:

DH- 27; Goofy wannabe, goofy look-a-like; true lover of Yankees; most impatient human being this trip; feels like he never wants to get off of Haunted Mansion, feels like he owes it to the imagineers to ride it 999 times this trip and drive his DW CRAZY!

P-Fish- 26; True magic-maker, pixie-dust thrower, most obsessed travel organizer; feeling nostalgic for romance; keeper of the list “Stupid Things DH Speaks During This Trip”; lover of all children this trip- both quiet and loud; true drama queen and future super-hero! Also, detail enthusiast.

Day One~ April 17: French Quarter and Magic Kingdom

So it is time to head to our room. We park in the Building 5 lot and try to maneuver through the pathways and distinguish between the different buildings. It was either the sun or the alcohol that took me a few minutes to realize that room 5232 meant we were on the 2nd floor! Duh! For being the brains of the two, I wasn’t proving myself worthy. We were able to fully appreciate the resort though. The details in the wrought iron rails and the cobblestone pathways are beautiful. So I guess it was a blessing to not find our room so easily (please read: become lost).

I knew right away after walking around this resort, it will always be a fave in my book. It was a little quiet, but not barren. I really don’t mind the sound of kids squealing in delight as they go down slides or chase one another around a tree. It is actually pretty soothing. Disney really isn’t Disney without having kids around, face it. The small courtyards near each building looked like pleasant nooks to sit and catch a few rays or read your favorite book.

Here I am hanging out with some new friends:

Anyways, we did FINALLY find our room, and I bolted inside. If you can picture this, I made DH wait outside while I took pictures of the room while it was still neat. It will never look the same as it does on that first day of check-in. We situated ourselves and went to Magic Kingdom for a few rides.

It was around dinner time and we stopped by the food court to try it out. We had bought our refillable mugs earlier and only needed something to eat. Food courts honestly don’t appeal to me too much. DH was excited to see Taco Salad listed since he had been craving that for sometime. I chowed down on chicken fingers and we watched the kids playing on the pathway outside. Very relaxing. So hard to believe we were in Disneyworld! As I licked the honey-mustard off my fingers, I looked at DH. We had such a rough week before our trip and he actually looked relaxed. I think I even caught him smiling a bit. I love my husband very much. We have been married for 5.5 years and I feel like I have known him my entire life even though I have only known him for 6. DH will even tell you that I know him better than he knows himself. How is that possible? Why can’t I know that much about me? Anyways, I digress… :love2:

MK was packed. I knew it would be. Heck, if Epcot was busy, the MK MUST be as busy. That was fine with us. Today was an extra day in our books. No real plans. Float in the breeze like two lone leaves drifting in a spring night. Did I fail to mention I like writing poetry? LOL! We rode Haunted Mansion (HM) for the first of MANY times. No wait at all. Tried Splash Mountain, but there was sometime like a 30 minute wait for that one, and no fast passes left. We rode Buzz and grabbed a fast pass for Stitch (even though I had no desire to do this ride. I am a true fan of Alien Encounter and will always miss it. I understand it really wasn’t “kid-friendly”, but it is still sorely missed in my heart. Plus it really used to scare the bejeezes out of me). We tried to go on Space Mountain but that line was long as well. WOW. It was really a lot busier than we were used to. I kept praying that it was only because it was a Sunday. We walked over to Big Thunder Mountain and saw standby was only 25 minutes so we jumped in line. Lucky DH had a ton of Massachusetts people (no offense, remember DH has been a Yankees fan his whole life) in line who really felt the need to yell out where they were from. Knowing my DH as well as I do, I knew he was in front of me cringing. I could also feel his chest swell as he stood there wearing his Yankee t-shirt (Mattingly) with pride! BTMR was as fast as ever, and we could see the house on fire @ Tom Sawyer’s Island REALLY well. I love that detail.

We finally wandered (I use this term loosely, because it was more like swimming through a river filled with quicksand—people--) towards Stitch. It was right between the parade and Wishes, so traveling was not easy.

Stitch. *sigh* Once again I won’t waste too much space on Stitch. DH liked it (a little I think). My favorite aspect was the animatronics Stitch during the ride. I stared at it long and hard, and he really did appear real. Also, I can tell the ride was geared more towards the kids. Hey, we did it once and like Soarin’, don’t plan on doing it again anytime soon.

We flew out of Stitch in time to catch Wishes going full blast. We quickly head upstream through Main Street and towards the monorail before Wishes ended. Luckily we were at the railroad during the finale! Yes! DH saved the day by pulling me along as fast as I could keep up. Sometimes I really don’t mind when he takes the lead ;)

Before we got back to our room, we stopped to fill our mugs with hot chocolate (this will become our nightly ritual before bed each night). DH called and made our wake-up call (hopefully from the star, Mickey, himself), and we fell fast asleep…

Thanks so much for the great reports! You guys sound a lot like the two of us doing the parks - mostly we plan but often like to drift.

I had never heard of the house on fire on TS island. I will definitely look for it next week. I hope the hype didn't kill Soarin' for you. I've ridden it in DCA and enjoyed it mostly because I'm from California and the golf course scene is right over my mom's house. It never occured to me how it appears to non-Californians.

PS. My husband is a huge Yankees fan too and we've had TWO trips spoiled by disappointing World Series games. I'm not sure I'll ever book a trip in October again!

Wow. That was really nice to read!

We are staying at POFQ again this May. We were there last May and I am ashamed to say I fell face forward and smacked my face against the pavement. Had a big bump on my forehead but that didn't stop me. I love being at that resort with DH. :love2:

Thanks for sharing your trip.

Good read; glad you had a good time. Waiting for the next report! How long were you there?

You all are so nice! :lovestruc

I'm glad you are enjoying the trip report, and to be honest I almost didn't want to write any more for fear that nobody cared. LOL. Guess I was wrong and I appreciate it all.

DH and I are very unique and simple people. We are happy in our personal lives, but there is something about Disney that escalates us to a new level of pure fantasy and happiness. I hope that comes across in my reports.

Also I am very honest! Too honest sometimes, and I am glad DH isn't part of the DIS boards ;) Actually, he knows everything I write...he was front and center for 99% of it :love2:

Don't worry, I will keep writing for I am enjoying typing this out and re-reading it. I am sure I should be done with it in a few weeks based on the simple fact I am now only getting to Day Two :rotfl2:

Thank you once again!
