The very minimal cast:

DH- 27; Goofy wannabe, goofy look-a-like; true lover of Yankees; most impatient human being this trip; feels like he never wants to get off of Haunted Mansion, feels like he owes it to the imagineers to ride it 999 times this trip and drive his DW CRAZY!

P-Fish- 26; True magic-maker, pixie-dust thrower, most obsessed travel organizer; feeling nostalgic for romance; keeper of the list “Stupid Things DH Speaks During This Trip”; lover of all children this trip- both quiet and loud; true drama queen and future super-hero!

DAY ONE~ April 17: Our Travel

DH and I had gotten a whole 3 hours of sleep before our early wake up at 3:45 am, so that we would make our 5:30 am flight. Being the planner that I am, I knew the sooner that DH and I got to Disney, the better for our sanity! We were on a thin line, and the stress level was almost through the roof.

This will be our first of many firsts. Flying to WDW! Our local airport was not to crowded and we walked right through security and impatiently sat down. I moved from the chair next to DH, to the huge glass windows, to DH’s knee, and back to my seat. I did this about four times before DH calmly asked me to sit still. Oh how I will yearn for this calmness further into our trip ;)

I watched two young girls (maybe 3 and 6?) chase one another around the waiting area, and I just knew they were headed to WDW. They were bright faced, and full of glee. The little one kept running to the glass windows and asking when the plane would be there. I loved these moments. It really reminded me of my sis and I. Although I am 4 years older, I know we used to do the same thing…nostalgia…I am a sucker for it.

Our flight to Atlanta was very smooth, and I enjoyed my window seat. DH commented to me that it would have taken us 8 hours to drive down to Savannah and it took about one hour to fly to Atlanta. Never again will we drive he told me. I secretly was beaming inside! Hopefully this means we will make good use of our soon-to-be APs, and make several smaller trips during the year. Hey, a girl can dream can’t she?!? princess:

Our trek from Atlanta to Orlando was just as smooth, and I knew surely something bad would be happening to us since we had been having so much good fortune. Needless to say that our good luck stuck out the day with us! :earboy2:

We picked up our rental from Emerald Aisle…I allowed DH to pick out whichever car he wanted since he was driving. I use the word “allow” because I had made all the reservations, PS’s, and travel arrangements so that means I am the boss! For now at least ;)
DH picked out a PT Cruiser (we have a Prizm and Focus at home so this was a treat) and away we breezed down the Beeline. Luckily I heeded the warnings of all the Disers who told me to bring change for the tolls. I did ask DH (ok, I was testing him, I admit it) if he had any money on him. He shook his head no and asked why he would need cash when we planned on using the debit and credit card. I informed him that there were numerous tolls. DH became very concerned at this point, but being the “super hero” that I am, handed him a handful of coins to use. He looked at me like I was a goddess!

Yes, I did think of everything. :cheer2:

We arrived at Port Orleans French Quarter (after many words that I stressed to DH concerning his speeding) around 11:00 am. We jumped right in line and waited about 5 minutes until this wonderful young man (and his trusty sidekick who must have been training) greeted us. We exchanged sentences about this being our first time there, yada yada yada (and all I could think: Did I get my room request, Are the parks busy, Is it going to rain this week, ect). He really was very kind. I informed him that I wanted to let him know up front that DH and I had not upgraded our tickets to APs yet, but if he needed us to do that ASAP we had no problem doing that. He did stop for a second (debating what to say in front of his student perhaps) but told us he trusted us. I asked if I needed to stop by with them later and he said once again, that he trusted us. He told us our room was not ready yet (no problem with us!) and as he pulled up our information in the system, I asked about my room preferences. Did I get Building 5? Is it non-smoking? Is it a corner room?

And yes, I was quite ecstatic when he cheerfully told me it was all the above and to call this number later to find out if it would be ready. No problem! DH just looked at me to see if getting all those requests was a good thing and I shook my head yes and smiled broadly! We decided to wait until our return to look around the resort and headed off to Epcot to try our hand at Soarin’ for the AP previews. :3dglasses

Keep up the report! This sounds so familar.. My DW is the same way about planning.. You guys really remind me of us. About the age, Im goofy looking, and she is an Ultra planner!

The question is.. Were you packed the week before you left? :cool1: she likes to make sure everything is together! I'd be lost without her.

24 days and counting..

LOL...I was packed TWO weeks before! DH packed about 2 days before...and even the night before!

Thanks for sticking around for the details addlema ;)

We always get into arguments about that :) I want to pack the night before we leave, and DW is packing 2 weeks before....

We now pack seperatly usually :)

:teeth: I told DH that we need to pack the van this summer for our October trip (with empty suitcases, I'm not that bad). I think we will need a rooftop carrier, he says no. But with suitcases, a stroller, the cooler and the "amuse the 3 kids for the drive down" stuff, not to mention what we bring back, I would really like to know sooner than 24 hours before we leave. :teeth:

Looking forward to the rest of the report.
