Oh no you didn't! In the south, it's ALL "Coke" (except Dr. Pepper).

Seriously, I have been to restaurants where we've ordered a coke and the server said "what kind of coke would you like? we have Coke, Sprite, Dr. Pepper, Diet Coke..."

Yep! Even Pepsi is "coke," when referenced generically!

I grew up in Virginia, where it's pretty much the same way. (I remember how "cute" my friends and I thought it was when a new girl from Kansas used the word, "pop." Those silly Midwesterners! :upsidedow )

I was born in Chicago and then moved to Texas when I was about 9 or 10 and had to get used to calling everything "Coke." Then moved back to Chicago at 16, and had to start calling it all "pop" again. Now I've been down here for 6 years, and I can't figure out what they call it. I try to be neutral and say "soda."

I was just telling another northern transplant about the different kinds of "Coke" out in Texas the other day (might have been the same conversation about the "pop" being on sale!).

:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl:

Got him on right now!! I've been trying to win $500 of free gas, but so far nothing!!

ME TOO!!!!!! I get through about 3-4 times...just not the right caller.

20....61....81....nada!

I think I might have been 92 yesterday, but it was hard to hear him since he picked up and hung up so quickly. Save your dialing finger if the song finishes...he has totally got a winner by then.

He picked up Wednesday and I totally thought I got it...but alas, he had his winner on hold. :(

Forgot to post this picture of our lunch yesterday! Minnie enjoyed eating outside on our deck.

JPEG050.jpg

But I could tell Minnie was feeling a little homesick, so I let her visit with her friends...for those of you who watched my CMO video, there's good ole' Chernabog!
JPEG052.jpg

Side note: My main collections are (1) The Little Mermaid (2) The Lion King and (3) any other Disney cats (Aristocats, Shere Khan, etc)

Speaking of cats....

Minnie enjoyed visiting with Butterscotch ... of course, she didn't see that hungry look that Butterscotch gave her ...

JPEG053.jpg

Ok, Butterscotch realized that Minnie was a friend ("must not eat Mice ... mice are friends...)

JPEG056.jpg

And then I introduced Minnie to my other cat -- Smokey

JPEG058.jpg

I had to run to the mall to pick up DD's Disney Princess Light Up sneakers for our trip. Here we are buckled in our car seat.
JPEG062.jpg

Inside JCP, Minnie asked if she could try on some necklaces
JPEG064.jpg

Then it was off to the indoor mall playground. DD asked if she could take Minnie with her. Sure!
JPEG066.jpg

Is this what HMF airlines look like? :rotfl:
JPEG068.jpg

More playing at the "terminal"
JPEG071.jpg

Then DD wanted to take Minnie on the Carousel
JPEG072.jpg

DD favors the "spinning cup" over the horses...
JPEG074.jpg

Then it was home for lunch and one last time to play outside.

I figured Minnie would be cooped up for a few days while traveling to her next destination, so we walked around my garden, stopping to smell the flowers and run around. This certainly got me excited for the upcoming Flower and Garden show at Epcot!!

Minnie was hoping to pick some strawberries, but they aren't ready yet!
JPEG082.jpg

And here she is playing with our back yard friends ... Gus, Phineas and Ezra ... (anyone? anyone get the reference???)

JPEG083.jpg

And finally, a quick game of tag with the dragonfly and praying mantis -- Oops, looks like Minnie got caught.
JPEG085.jpg

DD, Minnie and I had so much fun together. It'll be sad to see her go.

Oh, and now I have to make a new one for my DD who just doesn't understand why she can't keep her! ;)

Ding, ding, ding!!!! We have a winner!!!:thumbsup2

Now I owe you a Mickey Ice Cream Bar, too, the next time we are in WDW together!

EDIT: Oh, and Thanks for the compliments! My DH and I really got into gardening about 3-5 years ago. Spent a lot of sweat-money digging and planting it all...then we had our DD and the garden went to "au naturale":lmao: (fancy way of saying, we let it go!)...this is the first year since that we are trying to get it back in shape.

Hey, Marshay: How about heading to my house to work some of your landscaping "magic"?!? ;) What a lovely yard! And, you're right! It's extremely large by D.C. standards!

Bye-bye, Skinny Minnie! :wave2: I can't wait to see where you'll wind up next!! (Thanks for playing, Marshay! :teeth: )

Somewhere in America, a Coca Cola marketing executive is weeping.

Having grown up around Chicago... the proper term is of course "pop". Short for "soda pop" but the term "soda" by itself is just too pretentious.

I was told that in Salt Lake City, you say to a friend, "Wanna go get a coke?" and it means any kind of "pop"

Kinda like in WA state we go to the ocean, in NJ to the shore, in HI to the beach.

And Marshay beat me to it. I did have one sinking feeling though.... I know we are about to get the DISfamily road trip going... but after that.... are all my new friends and family going away? :sad1:

I believe there will be a CORE family here all the time. Then there will be the nieces and nephews who love us but only have time to visit once in a while.
Finally, those cousins will check in and not totally forget about us but we'll wonder where they went.

You know, sort of like a real family!! :grouphug:

HMF and Marshay, just wanted to let both of you and everyone else out there know that I plan on being a part of the CORE family. Every once in a while, I'll need a break, but I'll always be there when anyone needs me.

Wow!!! Thinking back to when we all met on a thread here in late January........I have spent an enormous amount of time here!

This has definitely been an "E" ticket ride!!! pixiedust:

I'll second that. It has definitely been a wild and fun-filled ride!!!

I was so excited for my monthly crop this time, b/c I was going to finish my ABC book. I asked Minnie if she wanted to come with me and she said yes.

(MadBrad, notice what page I'm working on???)
JPEG037.jpg

Oh yes, my favorite page of all!!!

I'm trying to post a pic of my granddaughters. Sorry if I waste space!
IMG_4018568x426.jpg

Let me just say, ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!!!!

OK Friends and Family,

Just did a quick "drive by" the thread. Must get back to work. I still can't find where that smell is coming from? Dawson is potty training...maybe it's him? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Mrs. Fleagle, we once had this really awful smell in our kitchen too. We looked and looked. What did we find? When we put our kids Easter baskets up in the pantry, someone forgot to throw away all of the eggs. You don't think you had one of those "hidden" somewhere by the Easter bunny do you?

See what our passion for Disney and our support of one another can do? It can help make dreams come true. And if our own dreams don't quite happen, then it can be enough that we in some small way helped a friend realize their dream.

Mrs. Fleagle, I couldn't have said it any better myself. I think that is what the true spirit of Disney is all about.

Hey, madbrad: Are you still out there? :confused3

I was sorting through some quirky articles that I recently "bookmarked," and the title of one reminded me of you!

'Grump' travels the planet to find bliss

DISgeeksfromDC - Thanks, I think. I don't know if I should take that as a complement or not. :confused3 :rotfl:

Yeah! Where is Madbrad? Anyone hear from him lately?

Cat & DISgeeksfromDC - Believe it or not, I actually took a couple of extra days off from work so I could stay at home and WORK! My list of Spring chores was baking way up.

This is a picture of the huge mess that I created. The pile of tree limbs on the right is from the dead tree I cut down Tuesday. The pile of decking on the left is from the old deck around my pool that I tore out on Wednesday. We plan on having concrete poured around the pool next week.

IMG_1821.jpg

Also on Tuesday, I worked on emptying the pool and patching the holes in the concrete so we can paint it.

IMG_1819.jpg

Everything to the right of the pool will be concrete...

IMG_1815.jpg

and everything to the left of the pool will be concrete.

I took Thursday off to enjoy some time with the family. I went with my son on a field trip to Ivy Green - the birthplace and childhood home of Helen Keller (more on that when its my turn on the Road Trip).

Hi There MadBrad! So glad to hear from you!

Nice pool....It looks like you have a nice size yard and once the concrete is poured I can imagine such nice and relaxing pool area. Maybe we can take a dip when our road trip gets to you? :)

I liked your story about the "smell", that was funny! You're right, those Easter eggs seem to reappear for quite awhile! I finally found our smell, and while I did find a bag of potatoes in our pantry, it wasn't them. I guess my 5 year old thought that our dog (a westie named Annie) needed some healthy vegetables. So she took the rest of our steamed vegetables from last week (broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower) and put them in her dog dishes. She mixed it with the food AND the water. So it was needless to say not a pleasant odor. :sad2:

Keep popping back in! Have a great day!

Amy

Well, just a quick recap of the past 48 hours at the Fleagle house.

Eric thought his computer was stolen out of his car.
My van had a nail in the tire and we are going out of town today so we had to get it fixed quickly.
Dawson kept complaining of his head and tummy hurting and had a fever. Still don't know what was wrong.
Went to work Tuesday, (one of my teachers was away this week at a funeral so I had both dance rooms to run) and there were "bugs" crawling all over the floating hardwood dancefloor? Gross!
Air conditioning broke in the other dance room which was very hot as the weather outside was 82º....inside much hotter!
Elizabeth had been complaining of what we thought was a bladder infection.
Took her to the doctor and she had to stay home from school Thursday. Seems she can't tollerate Bubble Baths.
Came home and thought I would be nice and clean out Eric's car while mine was having the nail fixed and noticed a swarm....yes a swarm.... of black bugs all over our garage. Oh my, these bugs look familiar....yes the same kind that were at the dance studio.
Eric had to rush home from work to figure out what kind of bugs they were. Yep, termites.
He goes outside to check under the house and walks back up on the deck and tries to open the back door. The handle literally broke off in his hand. Just pullled right off the door....which had to be removed....and now we need to buy another one.
Yesterday we were waiting for the termite guy to come and check our house and I hear a loud bang. Dawson was clunking around in his big brother's size 9 1/2 shoes and tripped. Smacked his face on the corner of the kitchen island and not only busted his lip and bruised his cheek pretty good, but oh, a tooth is broken too! Emergency visit to the dentist.
Call Eric from work because the termite guy was supposed to be there between 4 -5. It was 3:30 when this happened. So, Eric flies home (not literally, but drove quickly) We scramble to the dentists office, then had to pick up my van before they closed and got home at 5:00 just in time for the termite guy to get there and tell us that thankfully no house damage is done, but it still needs to be treated. $1,100.00 Great....because we just love spending our tax refund every year to broken heaters and airconditioners, and now termite treatments.

Fabulous.

So, there in a nutshell is that infamous Fleagle luck at work.

Off to drive 2 1/2 hours for a 1 hour soccer match and then drive 2 1/2 hours back. Catch you all later!
