WDW Update:

Rumors have been flying like tiny Dumbos all over the parks!

Many people are questioning why there have been no sightings of Minature Mickey in the parks today. Is it because of the scandalous behavior of the Big Cheese's Little Cheese in the Par-tay in car debacle?

There will be an official Press Release sometime this evening - time is yet to be determined.

Please stand by....

WDW Press Release...For Immediate Distribution:

Oh come on! You didn't think they'd disown Miniature Mickey for a simple little funny dance in the monorail, did you? Really - this is Disney! :cool1:

No, Mickey is just ready to head to a new undisclosed location for a visit with another DISboarder! :woohoo:

I can't wait to see what new adventures are in store for our L'il Cheese!

Cat

Gotta jump out of here for a bit. Hopefully I'll be back on in time to catch Cat's latest press release!

AND, not that I need to remind anyone in this thread, but the voting begins again in just about 3 hours! (what quirks will we discover with the site this time around, I wonder?!) :)

WHOA!!! I guess we were typing simultaneously! So yeah, I caught your press release without having to log back on later.

So, where is he headed? Any hints??

Now I do have to go.... thanks for popping in Cat! I can't wait to see you in just a few days!

Well, some not so great news. We may have to postpone yet again our trip to WDW. I couldn't get Honda to pay for all of the transmission on the 2003 Odyssey. I still had to come out of pocket over $2500+. That was the WDW fund. Not sure if we are going to be able to replenish by February now.

We ended up trading it in for a new Sienna...my wife didn't trust the Odyssey anymore...for good reason. Never would have thought the transmission would have failed at 60,000 miles.

I'm so sorry to read this. :sad1: Keep the faith! Sending some Pixie Dust your way. pixiedust: :tink:

Canton: Gotta love the commute to Atlanta every day. You can think of me tomorrow at 6:30am when I leave my house to make it work by 8am. :scared1:

Thanks for the questions, madbrad!

1) As for Disney books . . . yeah, I have a lot and the list I would recommed is pretty lengthy. (For today's purposes, and since it is early and I have to get to work soon, this will be a partial, rambling list!)

I have read the biographies by both Neal Gabler and Michael Barrier ("The Animated Man").

I enjoyed "How to be like Walt" by Pat Williams and "The Gospel According to Disney" because of my work at the church.

I have the three "Imagineering Field Guides" and enjoy them as well (When is one coming out for the Studios? Anyone?).

"Be Our Guest" by the Disney Institute is a great piece on customer service, and "The Imaginneering Way" is one of the most creative and fun books to have lying around.

Jason Surrell's books on The Haunted Mansion, Pirates, and The Disney Mountains are wonderful for some back story and fantastic photos.

The two books I would most highly recommend for fans of the parks, however, are "Designing Disney" by John Hench with Peggy van Pelt and "Walt Disney Imagineering - A Behind the Dreams Look at Making the Magic Real" by The Imagineers. Both are published by Disney Editions and include amazing pictures, original sketches and artwork, and insight from the people who were really there when the decisions were made. "Designing Disney" is a particular delight because John Hench was truly a master of so many design elements and just may have had more of an impact on the parks than any one person outside of Walt himself. To "hear" directly from someone like him is pretty incredible.

Of course there are others, but that's a pretty good starting point for this time in the morning!

:thumbsup2

Thanks for the book recommendations. I've always found the life of Walt Disney to be very interesting. It just goes to show you that if you just try hard enough, your dreams can come true!

Here are a few more answers for you before I head out . . . .

1) This was the hardest part of the process for me thus far. My wife is going and we are taking her sister and my best friend. The trip starts (the 16th) on our 3rd anniversary and they were our maid of honor and best man, so it will be a neat little wedding reunion. I really wanted to take my parents, but there were some other things to consider so we tried to reach a compromise. My folks are still going though. How sweet are they? They're flying themselves down for the week so that they can still see the competitions.

2) If the opportunity presents itself, I'm DEFINITELY planning on giving "y'all" a shout-out! SO, keep watching that site and the updates. I have no idea how much they'll post or what they'll edit out, but I am - without a doubt - going to try to throw some clever and subtle, and some not-so-subtle, greetings your (in the big DISnee sense of the word) way.

3) Well . . . since I had no idea about the Lime Green Mickey Heads until this thread a few pages ago, I still have to look into it! I believe we will have specific wardrobe requirements during the contests, so I don't know if it is possible. I going to try to pick a few up just in case though! (As I mentioned before, I will be sporting a Fleagle CMO pin though!)

Thanks for answering my questions Justin. I was just trying to get back to the original intentions of the thread. :goodvibes

Good Morning Everyone and thanks for the questions MadBrad. I finally finished everthing I needed to get done before we can leave and will take it easy today and tomorrow. Hey Justin, looks like we will arrive around the same time. I assume David will too, and we'll all be on the same van/shuttle. The shuttle was mentioned on one of my phone calls so I assume that we will not take ME, but I could be wrong.

As far as the questions, my wife and 2 girls will be with me. We already had a short trip planned for the first of May so my wife can attend the International Nanny Conference, so the rest of my family won't make this trip, but will be with us in May.

I am planning to shout out to the Dis, unless they specifically prohibit us from doing that. I'm sure they will go over everything we can and can't do when we arrive.

My Fleagle pin is on my lanyard. I may add a LGMH to it.

We will be wearing CMO T-shirts during the in-park competition, and they have asked each of the Top 3 to be in coat and tie for the announcement on the 22.

Also, building on the earlier questions which I didn't include in the quote, I have read most that were listed by Justin, but some books you may want to add to the Disney Book Club on your shelf include:

"Kingdom Keepers" Ridley Pearson
"Peter and The Starcatchers" Ridley Pearson/Dave Barry
"Peter & The Shadow Theives" Ridley Pearson/Dave Barry
"Peter The Secret of Rundoon" Ridley Pearson/Dave Barry

These are young reader books, but a lot of fun to read.

Tripp, thanks for answering my questions too. When I go to WDW in September, I plan on wearing my Fleagle pin as well, right beside my LGMH.

I saw Kingdom Keepers at WDW the last time we went. I bought it as soon as we got home. I absolutely loved it. Did you know that The Kingdom Keepers 2: Disney at Dawn is to be released in late August? This one is set in the AK. I can't wait for it to come out! I've also heard that Disney is considering making the 1st Kingdom Keepers into a movie. I think that would be a hit.

That stinks BTM... here is to hoping! :wizard:

SM = Space Mountain or Splash Mountain?
EE = Expedition Everest?
TT = Test Track?
ToT = Tower of Terror?

How'd I do? How'd I do? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Very good BTM! I'll give you a :thumbsup2. JenniferAtl was correct, Splash Mountain is the only SM that does take a ride picture!

Here is an exampe of a picture taken while riding on Splash Mountain. I'm sure nobody can pick out my son and I. (Hint - look for the GRUMPY!) And no my eyes were NOT closed!

Loved Kingdom Keepers as well. I read it all the time when I need a little adventure. It reads pretty quickly... er well it is a young reader book. I have heard some rumblings about a movie. If they did it up with a big budget and some killer cgi, it WOULD be a big hit. Can't wait to read KK2: Disney at Dawn. Ridley has a blog that he is pretty active on - Wild Ride

I am clocking out for the night. Need to sleep. Gotta a big competition this week that you might have heard about. There is no guarantee that the voting will turn on at midnight, so I didn't want to stay up all night waiting. Good luck to Justin and David... see you in Disney World on Wednesday!

Good Night!

Great Pic! I love SM, not just for the drop, but the whole story, music, and audioanimatronics! And it's such a long ride, compared to so many others.

Hello All!

Find myself catching up once again.

A few quick responses...

As far as the new thread name being sooooo long...
How about.....

"Da Thread" Or "The Thread"??

Sort of covers it all and no matter what is added or brought up, it is covered in "Da Thread".
And as that thread ends...."Return of Da Thread"
"Da Thread meets Mickey" for a grand gathering week (???).
Or "Da Thread Does Disney" if you prefer.
Just adding my .02c.

Love the Skinnie Mickey and Tigger doing the Funky Salmon, Cato!
Glad to see a magical time is being had! pixiedust:

Good luck this week once again to the Top 3.
Waiting for Midnight....or +08GMT whichever comes first!!!:confused3

BTM, sorry to hear about the van, that sucks.

MadBrad...the map looks good but getting crowded! :lmao:

Lurker, sorry I missed the game, next time..:thumbsup2

Thats all I got for now, will have to skim back over to see if I missed anything.

Hey, a quick post before church this morning!

Although my DVC home is in Walt Disney World, I live my other life in Loudoun County, near Dulles Airport (outside Washington, DC).

Although I love your choice for me better!! :rotfl:

That was supposed to be a surprise. :rotfl: I really don't know how you ended up there. The site I'm using has some issues, but overall it works pretty well. I think I have you back where you belong now.

I guess my name is hidden behind Jen and BTM? :confused3

Or was I suppposed to sign up to be on the map?

I'm off to church. Be back later!

Don't worry Tripp. You have such a large fan base near Atlanta that you cover each other on the map. I was just posting a picture of the map. The site is more interactive, much like Google maps.

Look at me all alone waaaaaaaaay out in Massachusetts.

Look at me. All alone in Alabama!!!

Hey! wotruba_disney is blocking me!

Sorry, once again, only a picture. I was showing no preferential treatment what so ever. :rotfl: :rotfl: Once I'm completely finished with the map, I'll post a link to the site.

Sorry for taking us OT with DVC and scrapbooking...I'll try to refrain (even suggested above that we do a separate thread...) It's just that in this down time when there isn't much CMO stuff, it's hard to stay on-topic.

So, CMO Top 3 -- come tell us about CMO stuff! When do you leave? Do you fly 1st class/business? Could you choose your own airline? Where are you staying at? Has a schedule been put forth yet?

I'm so very excited for you!! The contest begins in less than a week!!:scared1: :cool1:

I'm not caught up on this thread at all but I just wanted to tell Marshay I'm not bothered at all by being OT!! In fact I love a lot of the topics we go off on!:)

"Kingdom Keepers" Ridley Pearson
"Peter and The Starcatchers" Ridley Pearson/Dave Barry
"Peter & The Shadow Theives" Ridley Pearson/Dave Barry
"Peter The Secret of Rundoon" Ridley Pearson/Dave Barry

These are young reader books, but a lot of fun to read.

I just finished the Peter books myself. I really enjoyed them!!
