One of my few funny Disney stories. We were at DW MK in 1991 and we walked into the general store there near the entrance and we noticed a large group of people in suits walking through the store. Then I saw him, Michael Jackson. I thought it was an impersonator since we were in the land of costumes and characters. But, as I followed them out the door, it really was Michael Jackson and Macauley Culkin. They eventually ended up at the jewelry store 1/2 the way down Main Street, and the doors were locked behind them and a large crowd gathered at the windows. They eventually exited via the tunnel as word spread he was there...

Michael Jackson and Macaulay Culkin!? Things started to go really downhill for Jackson around then...
(Actually, I'm thinking you might even be able to trace it back to that whole "hair-on-fire" incident on the set of his Pepsi commercial ... I was in elementary school at the time, btw.)

I guess it's wrong to make light of the situation, but his life -- at times -- has seemed like one big circus side-show!

That said: I've always thought his music videos were brilliant!

A trip or two ago (can't remember which) but we were at MGM Studios at the time and we saw some hullabaloo in front of Mickey's hat....ran to see what it was and it was Ty Pennington with his megaphone calling out for the Ramirez Family! He was doing some out-takes for the Extreme Home Makeover Edition show. Super cool....I was totally into Trading Spaces in the beginning and it was neat to see him. Apparently Eric looked like an old buddy of his from high school so when he saw us watching he came over after the take was over. Talked for a bit (Eric did not go to school with him) but then he was so nice and took us to get ice-cream. By then a crowd was gathering and he had to head off, but he was as nice as could be.

So your celeb certainly trumps mine!

O.K., so in honor of Tripp making it to the Top 3...I decided to put a photo biography together. It may take some time and creativity to get through the Disney security guards that are currently assigned to him, so I will post as I am able to do so.

He was doing some out-takes for the Extreme Home Makeover Edition show.

I always suspected those outtakes were staged. Now we know.

Here was a photo I obtained that I like to call:

And now we know that Trippy did get his ears done! I knew it!

What was funny about MJ was that he was wearing red and black and was not in any way trying to blend in with us tourist folks. He was there to do some shopping I guess, as teh jewelry store CM said he pointed and they boxed it up for him. He was still pretty "normal" (for MJ) at that time, but a huge celebrity due to Thriller. I think Captain EO was at EPCOT at that time too. I did get a photo from behind him as they crossed the street, just after we decided that it really was him and before the crowd knew he was there.

Yes, most of "reality tv" is done over and staged, even if it's just recreating things that really do happen, but the camera and microphone didn't pick it up just right. My one experience with "reality tv" was enlightening and gave me a new perspective that I watch the shows with now. I love picking out the parts where the voices are dubbed in etc. Kinda lurking there too I guess!

I didn't realize Tripp posted here until I read his blog this morning! I read his blog profile a while ago, and saw that he was such a huge Disney fan and asked him for some advice planning my first trip there - and he's been so great with ideas and suggestions!!

This went on throughout the weekend as we were often told where to go, who to talk to, and sometimes even what to say. Fortunately, they didn't use the part where they asked us to "pretend" that we didn't know our lines and that we were "practicing".
