Yes, Top Gear is Finally Back once again! After being away for a loooooooooong period of time, for reasons you should all know of, the show that promises insane stunts, fast celebrities and (hopefully little amounts of) car reviews is back on our screens where it belongs. And thus, this brings about the existance of the Top Gear Discussion Thread!! :woohoo: I am the Master of Ceremonies (No pun intended), and hopefully you guys will be here to join me as well, as we discuss everything to do with Top Gear Series 9.

What would you like to see in the next series?
Who's better: Richard, Jeremy, James, The Stig or Top Gear Dog?
Which is worth watching live: Dream Team or Top Gear?
Does anyone here actually know anything about Cars or is it the Celebs and fun stuff that we are here for??

These are the kinds of questions that I, in addition to the rest of you guys, will hope to answer during this series of Top Gear, which to remind you, begins on the 28th of January 2007, 8PM, on BBC 2. Repeats are on Wednesdays at 7.00PM on BBC 2, and then repeated on Saturdays at 7.00PM on BBC Three.

UPDATES:

29/1/07

1) After the first episode of Top Gear, It has been said that we do NOT talk about Richard's Accident after the 2nd episode has been broadcast. It's not to try and make anyone feel weird about not getting to express their view; it's just trying to make sure that everyone can have a great time watching the series without having to remember the whole thing. To remind you, I have gotten a counter:

Reasons are on post 13, which is at the bottom of this page.

2) Post 20 has a whole mess of updates that I cannot even explain to you now!!

WHEW thank god that's over! I spent AGES on that trying to make sure it was 100% correct and absolutely perfect. You do know that I went through the whole second series of Doctor Who without knowing that I spelt "Discussion" wrong!! :rotfl2:

I thought that I'd make this one even better than the other 3 discussion threads I have started before.. :) And just remember, if there is a good TV series out there you bet I will be there to discuss things about it. :goodvibes

Thanks Matt for the reminder, i have just got DH to sky+ it as he insists on watching the final of BB tonight:sad2:,

We are SKy+ this and will be watching CBB much to DH disgust!

I was totally outvoted and it is Top Gear. We have Sky + Waterloo Road so I don't get to see CBB.

Just watching it now. One safe run under his belt.

It looks as though it has taken its toll, to me - he looks drawn and older.

I agree, not quite the same Richard, although i'd rather be alive and pale than dead!

:yay:

It is horribe watching it - all the jokes he made!

He was sooooooo lucky. My DH is laughing at me crying at Top Gear

Hopefully he will keep improving. It can't have been nice re living that crash.

Just watched it. My thoughts:

Now, you all know how I feel about Richard. Ever since the accident, it is kinda hard for anyone to talk to me about him. Heck, it is really hard to mention his name to me without me churning up inside!! I can continue to smile and talk about him but inside it feels like I am about to breakdown in a similar manner to Adam from Spooks.

I watched this ep by myself, in case I'd cry inadvertadly (yes is it THAT bad; in fact it is kinda hard expressing my feelings now!!). This episode made me have a weird set of emotions. It's like I am happy to see Richard, yet at the same time, the horrible memories of what happened reappear and start to knaw at the happy feeling in me.

Yet... Through the episode, I was happy as a clam. It's like SEEING Richard is better than HEARING about Richard from a third party. I haven't experience this feeling in a long time. Why, it must of been since the Johnathon Ross episode where he was in it where I had a simliar feeling, only this one is much bigger and better now that's he's back to work. Perhaps, having Richard back on the telly could be my therapy in a way..

Right.. Err... Getting emotional in my head and that's stopping the thought process in me.. But, what I would like to say is that it was a Great episode (Tarmacking thing was the highlight of it!! :rotfl2: ) and hopefully this series will be good too. BUT, in order to continue making it a good series for all of us, we need to do what the presenters are doing and to make sure that we do NOT mention the accident ever again..

I am going to be kind with this. Since this is a discussion thread, and I need to give you the chance to discuss everything about the episode in full detail, You have until the next episode of Top Gear to discuss all feelings about the episode, and then we must drop the subject forever

Thank you for being understanding..

What do you think of Richard showing the Car Crash Footage? It was a good idea to show it, though I watched it through my fingers
What would you like to see in the next series? More of Richard Hammond:rotfl:
Who's better: Richard, Jeremy, James, The Stig or Top Gear Dog? Richard definitely, Jeremy drives me mad
Which is worth watching live: Dream Team or Top Gear? Thank goodness it's on at the same time as Dream Team (ha ha hubby had to tape that)
Does anyone here actually know anything about Cars or is it the Celebs and fun stuff that we are here for??
I watch it for the celebs and fun stuff

It was great to have the lads back on last night, I'm pleased they've shown the crash and I'll be happy to not see it again and I loved the turn the cars into boats item ~ very funny !!

What do you think of Richard showing the Car Crash Footage? It's done, dusted and what everyone wanted to know about and see. Having seen it now I'd say it's a miracle he's in one piece let alone back to work!

What would you like to see in the next series? I love the old competitive challenges like the boats and getting the cheap vintage cars to Slough

Who's better: Richard, Jeremy, James, The Stig or Top Gear Dog? Richard :thumbsup2

Which is worth watching live: Dream Team or Top Gear? Never watched Dream Team and (dare I say it) Top Gear is something we don't always watch (but when we do we remember how fab it is!)

Does anyone here actually know anything about Cars or is it the Celebs and fun stuff that we are here for?? Cars? No, zip, I know nothing!

Thanks Matt for the thread and I'm sure you'll be reminding me each week to watch :thumbsup2

I guess it had to be shown so now Richard can draw a line under it and not have people and the media asking him questions about it anymore and he can now focus on getting on with his life and his young family.

It had to be done to put it in the past. Great to have him and the show back. Loved the road laying bit.

Forget the crash, I loved the staircase bit with Richard! I don't think I've laughed so hard in a long time, poor love! You just knew they were going to do *something* to him on that first episode though!

Queenie, I agree!! I am so watching the repeat just to see that; classic!!! :lmao:

Time to answer my own questions.. :)

1) You KNOW how I feel about the Car Crash Footage.. See post 13 if you don't!

2) More insane stunts, and hopefully perhaps less of the above.

3) Richard, Duh! Top Gear Dog is second.. :teeth:

4) I absolutely HATE Dream Team so thank GOD Top Gear is on to save me!! :worship:

5) Me? Cars? LOL. :rotfl2: It took me several weeks to know what car my Driving instructor has!! (It's a Yaris (sp ?) btw and I didn't know until he shouted YARIS POWER!! while I was driving!!! :rotfl: :lmao: ). Yes, I am here for the Insane Stunts, Celebs and Egotism. :)

Notes for everyone:

1) Top Gear.com has a 3D representation of all of the stuff that happened in Richard's Crash, based on the Black Box Data from the Vampire. Takes a bit to load, and best watched with a box of tissues (or is that just me???)

2) It also has a small Blog about RH's view on the Accident in case you wish to look too. Also, Jeremy Clarkson has written a blog as well, which is essentially him critisising oppositions of TG in his normal "Funny" way..

3) The Same Webby again has A small collection of Games based on stuff that has happened on the show before in case you want something to do in the next week. Also, The BBC's top gear page has a section called The Stupidly Hard Quiz. Try it and see how far you can all get.. :thumbsup2

4) A website is selling "I am the Stig" shirts on behalf of the Beeb, from the Previous Series of Top Gear (or perhaps the one before that? Can't remember.. :confused3 ). One of my friends has one, and it looks pretty cool. :thumbsup2

5) The Top Gear Winter Olympics Special can be bought online at Amazon. I saw DVD displayed in one of those TV, DVD etc etc stores; where incidently, I managed to get into the locked computers that were on show; The password was the name of the store :rotfl2: ; but unfortunately for me, the DVD was in the machine so I couldn't get it.

6) And at last but at no means least, The previous episode of Top Gear is being repeated on Wednesday the 31st of January at 7.00, on BBC 2, and then again on Saturday the 3rd of Febuary, at 7.00 on BBC Three. The Next episode of Top Gear is being shown on Sunday, the 4th of Febuary at the usual time of 8.00, but before then on a show called "Private Passions" on BBC Radio 3 at 12.00 till 13.00, James is going to be Discussing his favorite (but frankly OLD) musical likes, as well as "A Very unusual rendering of the Top Gear Theme Tune". Might be nice if you get bored..

I will make sure to remind you guys about the repeats and the other stuff when the time comes. :) But since there is a LOT to do here, my suggestion is that we read up on the essential stuff, and then we play a game for the week. I suggest this week we do "The Stupidly hard quiz" since the Beeb never update their site with games, this'll be the first time you'll need to go there..
