DH and I drove to Foxwood's last night to see the Titantic Exhibit. The tickets were a bit pricey, $20 but it was worth the trip. There weren't a lot of artifacts but the exhibit was done very nicely, with pictures of some of those who were lost and who survived, each of those had a personal story. Upon entering the exhibit, you are given a boarding pass and at the end, you find out if you were a survivor. I lived. DH didn't. There were videos stationed along the way to show exactly what happened, how it sank and how the debris field was created. There were a variety of artifacts from portholes, clothing, china, dishes, cookware, bolts and even a few post cards and letters. One post card was preserved in a leather pouch and survived underwater all of those years.
One of the first lines of that card was ironically, "Wish you were here". It was postmarked 1910 and was in possession of the owner when the Titanic sank.

As far as eating at Foxwoods or staying very long; it was too crowded with long lines and of course, smoke filled except for the area where the exhibit was. We don't gamble. (I have an aversion to throwing money away) so we left but it was worth the trip.

We went to the exhibit when it was here in Columbus and we loved it. It was so fascintating. I've always been intrigued by the Titanic story so for me it was amazing. My DS and I spent a lot of time just reading, and experiencing the exhibit. I think they do a great job with it. Yes, the tickets are expensive, but definately well worth it.

Glad you enjoyed it, DawnCt1!

My mother and I were just talking about this last night and wondering if we should go or not. Thanks for the review Dawn, it sounds like something we would all enjoy.

My DH and I are heading to Vegas in a few weeks and were thinking about going to the Titanic exhibit at the Luxor, it's even more expensive at $27 each, but I'm sure there will be tons of coupons and stuff floating around.

Has anyone been to the one in Vegas? Is it any good, worth the money?

They are opening one in Pigeon Forge. I had really hoped it would be open when we are there, but it's not scheduled to open until April 8. :( I would love to see it.

I went a few years ago when it was in Raleigh. My daughter's boarding pass was a 20year old lady with a baby and I was a 50 something widow. I survived, my daughter didn't long with the baby.

I bet this is the same exhibit that was in Atlanta last summer. I really liked it a lot. I thought the relics were interesting--especially considering that most of them came from the bottom of the sea, 2 miles down. I took DD16 and my two neices from Venezuela. The 18yo is fluent in English, so she really liked it. The 14yo didn't really understand much about the exhibit. At the end we found out that all 4 of us lived--very unusual according to the people running it. DD16 was a 6wk old baby. She and her mother madei t off the ship, but her father died.:sad1:

That exhibit just left our science museum. We talked about going and just never made it. The Dead Sea Scrolls are there now and we HAVE to go see those.

DH and I went to the exhibit in Las Vegas in January. It was expensive, I believe $70 for the two of us after fees and tickets, but totally worth it. It was amazing.

DH thought at first that maybe it was too much, but the exhibit stuck with him throughout the next couple of days. To have it stick with him that long made him realize how amazing it really was and how the price was worth it.

You get your picture taken on a replica of the staircase, and get to touch a fake iceburg that is the same temperature of a real iceburg.

There were some really neat artifacts too : a large part of the ship, dishes, postcards, money, a shaving kit, jewelry, etc.

They give you the option to rent headphones to hear a guide, but we didn't.

We also got the card to show if our person lived or died. I was an older person in first class, but died. DH was a younger person in third class, but lived.

I recommend it!

This is what I was hoping to hear. I really want to see it. Hopefully they will have some coupons around. Is the picture included in the price or is that extra?

How long is it at Foxwoods, anybody know?

It is going on till June 13th.

I went to this exhibit twice when it came to Cincinnati. Once in 2001 and once in 2007. I love anything to do with the Titanic and I thought it was a very neat exhibit. The first time I didn't live, the second time I did.

I went through the Vegas exhibit in vegas back in fall of 2007. TOTALLY worth the money. It was really cool. My grandma and I are total cornballs when it comes to those pictures, so we bought ours.

But that exhibit was probably one of my favorite parts of that trip.

We saw it in NYC last year, my daughter loved it! Its gone now and King Tut is here which we also want to go see this summer! I do remember it was a heck of a lot more than 20.00 though. I think the King tut tickets are closer to 40.00 each here too.

Although interesting, i didnt think it worth the $20

The metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC is $20-there is a complete Egyptian Tomb rebuilt there, rooms of armour and ancient artifacts-that is worth spending $$ on:)

I am something of a Titanic buff. As such, I know that the team that discovered the Titanic's burial site took nothing from it and left only one thing: a plaque begging future visitors to respect the dead and not to remove anything. Later explorers were not so respectful.
