The Sword in the Stone

Is this still done during the slower times of the year? If yes, has anyone ever done it, and can they explain what happens - how they pick the kids, what happens if your child pulls the sword, etc. ?

They do it year wrong. It is random how they pick the child. If your child is picked they are part of the performance and they receive a medal and certificate and they are a temporary ruler of the realm.

I got picked to do it a few years back. Was asked name, where I was from and then asked to try and pull out the sword. Of course it does not come out. Little girl is asked to try. I'm asked to make my best muscle man face and pose to help little girl. and what do you know she pulls the sword up. She gets the cape, the certificate and the applause. It was a lot of fun.

My DH got picked as the "bodyguard" in Jan. We loved it! Definately a do if you can get towards the front, as that is typically where the child is chosen from.
