The Sweet Meet - Dis'ers do Hershey

How long did you work for Hershey?

KIDDING!! KIDDING!!

Thanks for the info! :thumbsup2

Never actually worked there. :rotfl2: Came close to working in the season pass office once though.

I have just been to the park enough times to see people trying to do this. As I said some actually get away with it while others do not. Just wanted to let you know the risk involved in trying. :rotfl2:

Just wanted to give you a heads up as every year we see people trying to do this. While not everyone gets caught security usually does show up.

You will see people doing this the most on the walkway leading from Chocolate World toward the park entrance but out of site of the ticket window etc.

I know, thanks for the info. :thumbsup2
Ask anyone, I'm all about the comic relief. :)
I gather you go there quite a bit, living so close.
I have never been to Hershey Park, being from Canada, it's quite a drive.
I am going there through Ontario, Quebec, New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New York (again), New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Don't have to......but might as well make a day out of the drive. :lmao:
I like to think of it as "The Scenic Route".

We usually only go a couple of times a year. Esp. since the price has been going up pretty steadily in recent years. We use to go every year at Christmas time as well as in the summer- you use to get into the park for free at Halloween, Christmas and Springtime and just pay as you went for rides, you also had to pay for parking. They stopped that a couple of years back and started charging a set price to get into the park plus parking. While the tickets are cheaper during the off season than in the summer because some rides are closed the value is just not there for us at Christmas any more as we only went to enjoy the atmosphere/christmas decor and did not ride the rides. Way too cold for that imo. We also enjoyed the park a lot more before they put in the boardwalk. The boardwalk area could have been designed better imo.

This year to my son's disappointment we will not be going to Hersheypark. I am currently expecting so an amusement park is the last place I want to be on a hot summer day. :) Next year we are probably going to get season passes so that should make up for missing this year. That and the fact that we will not be going back to Disney until at least 2012.

You sure do have quite a drive ahead of you. I hope Hershey doesn't disappoint you. :rotfl2: Be on the look out for the hershey kiss street lights. They line the main road through the town. You can see them best from the kissing tower. Also you can take a free tour at chocolate world. It is a simulation of the real factory that shows how they make and package the chocolate.

Sadly the current factory is going to be moving next year into a new building in another part of town so what is currently the factory is going to be turned into office space. It was either that or they were going to move the whole thing to Mexico or another state.

Interesting fact: While the name of the town is Hershey it is officially for government purposes known as Derry Township. They had a vote a few years back about officially changing the name but the towns people voted to keep it Derry Township. http://www.hersheys.com/discover/milton/homes_emp.asp

We are official... started booking various reservations this morning.

Will be renting a car today,,, rather put 1,600 to 1,700 miles on someone elses car:thumbsup2

Will be driving from St. Louis so we decided to split the drive going to Comfort Suites at Hummelstown.

Departing after work on Wednesday and driving 6 hours and then getting there sometime Thursday... Staying offsite the first night, will be checking in early on Friday to the Comfort Suites. Comfort Suites room is booked.

Now, I need to make a decision as to 2 full days in the park or 1 plus the preview. Hmmmm.

Anyone else planning on getting there early on Friday?

The drive back Sunday is not going to be fun... straight thru 800+ miles... so expect us to be on the road early.

This should be fun,

Louise & Mark

We have unfortunately moved to the maybe list. With my brother being transferred to DC we might have to make a trip there instead.

Oh no Don, we are :sad1: - but we all understand.

Definitely a yes on the binoculars!! Were in Section 1, Row P. I'll probably be able to see my car better than the stage! :lmao:

Let me also say thanks for all your hard work on this meet. It's very much appreciated. :thumbsup2

Our seats are Section 1 Row H - at that point, I don't think there's much of a difference, we are as far away as humanly possible :3dglasses

Sounds good Mark - I know there will be some arriving early on Friday. We will be getting there Friday afternoon. Most everyone will be leaving on Sunday morning, so you aren't going to be missing anything.

The two don't have to be mutually exclusive. Hershey isn't that far from DC so you could spend Saturday with us and then on to DC the next day. :cool2:

I thought of that, last time we did hershey we went to dc also. This time though he doesn't arrive until late August.

I guess it's not such a good thing that there is a disney store in the outlets right next to Hershey Park. :lmao:

Oooooooooo......

(Don't tell my wife)

Thought you were the shopper of the family pinboy. :rolleyes1

Row H? :scared1: Wow the expensive lower seats! :worship:

:rotfl:

We expect to get there between 3 and 4 on Friday, a little earlier if possible. We need to head out to the western part of the state and get Kim then head south. :)

We'll be leaving late morning on Sunday and hope to meet up with a few for breakfast if possible before we have to leave. :sad1:

We'll be getting there hopefully around 4 as well - we have to discuss dinner plans for that day as well as breakfast plans on Sunday morning.

We'll probably be there around 6-6:30 Friday night depending on traffic. Gotta work till 2:30 and then it's about a 3 hour drive out there. Would love to join you all for breakfast Sunday morning too!

Hey all I am thinking of joining this trip but i was wondering how many kids are going? It would just be me and my two girls ages 4 and 7 Thanks!

I'm baaaack! From Dutch Wonderland that is. Sister park to Hershey. Just wanted to share that on the back of the DW tickets are coupons for Applebees. Buy 1 adult entree, get a child meal free for Lancaster or Hershey locations only.

:rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

We'll see you & Deb on the coasters! :dance3:

cheers,
:flower3:

Let's say in the park because Deb doesn't do coasters unless it's one you put a drink on. :rotfl:

My grandson Alan will do the coasters with me except for loops and inversions. Then I'll need a coaster wife. :lovestruc
