We checked in last night. Our room faces the firewrks at MGM and the Boardwalk We slept like babies last night on the heavenly beds.
It's a great place. The staff is wonderful.

The Swan & Dolphin has never appealed to us....when it was first built we thought it looked like Legos........now with all the complaints of mold & asthma flare ups I would be very nervous to stay there.

We just returned from staying at the Swan, and enjoyed it completely. Great location, great room, great beds. We decided that this will be our WDW hotel henceforth (unless I decide to someday pony-up the money for the Poly).

If you are doing the Free Dining package, can you choose to stay at the Swan, or do you have to stay at a DW owned resort?

You can't get any Disney Dining - free or otherwise - at the Swan or Dolphin. Can't get Magical Express either. But they occasionally offer rates so terrific that the trade-off is more than worth it. :)

I happen to enjoy the whimical look of the Swan & Dolphin.

I have never had any problems with mold at the Swan or Dolphin and since the renovations at the Swan and Dolphin I have not read any new conplaints.

I agree.

The Swan/Dolphin offen has great rates that cost about as much as a Disney Moderate.

They are real 4 star hotels with stellar service.
Deluxe but not as expensive as Disney's deluxe resorts.

The heavenly beds are ...well heavenly.

The Grotto pool and hot tubs are fun and relaxing.

Plus Epcot and MGM are just a short boat ride or walk away!

From Epcot hop on the monorail and head on over to the MK!

Have fun at Disney wherever you choose to stay!:wizard:

Our family loves the Swalphin ! We stay in one or the other almost every year.

The Swan is my resort of choice at WDW, and I can't wait to return in October for a week. :)

Glad you are enjoying the Swan! We were there 3 weeks ago and had a wonderful time, as always!

We'll be back in November with our boys to celebrate my birthday and Thanksgiving at the Dolphin, and God willing, January 2008 for another couples only trip at the Swan!

I stayed at the Swan last November, and LOVED it!! I don't know why I waited so long to try it! I seen the Swan at barely $20 more a night than a Disney moderate, and there is no comparison between the two - the Swan wins hands down in my book! :) I loved the views (I had 10th floor overlooking MGM and the Tower of Terror!), and loved being able to walk to Epcot, and enjoy the nightlife around the Boardwalk.

For close to the same price, I would never take a moderate (where you could be in the boonies near nothing, long walk to food court or pools, crammed on buses, etc), when you could have the Swan or Dolphin! :)

We'll be there in less than a month and I can't wait. We stayed at the BWV last trip on rented points and got totally spoiled with the Epcot area. I really am looking forward to our first trip to the Swan!

Have you ever stayed there?

We stay at either the swan or dolphin at least once a year and love them both - once we had to be moved because the room we were assigned had just had the carpet cleaned and was very humid - carpet not dry yet!

Then don't stay at the:
Grand Floridian
Poly
WL
VWL
BWV
BWI
CBR
Beach Club
Beach Club Villas
Values
Dolphin
Sheraton Vistana
any other hotel in the Orlando area. This is the south. It's hot and humid. There will always be mold. If you've stayed at a WDW resort before, then you've been exposed to mold. If you didn't have a reaction, then I wouldn't worry about an asthma attack.
As for the Legos comment, you're entitled to your opinion. I like to have an open mind and I don't judge a book by it's cover..

Glad to see these opinions. We are staying there for the 1st time in Nov. we were deciding between POFQ (to get dining plan) and the Swan. Location won out over ddp.

is it true that Swan & Dolphin charges $10 per night for parking?
we have stayed at both and looovvvee the location, but, we have not been back in the last 2 years, and I thought I read they now charge for parking?
not great if you rent a car....seems like overkill to me....

Glad to hear your trip is off to a lovely start! Have a wonderful time. When staying at the BC and the boats would travel to the Swan/Dolphin, I thought they looked quite nice. I'd like to try them out also!:)

we stopped by the s/d on our last trip and really thought it was a beautiful resort! so much so that dh wants to stay there next trip.

We stayed at the Swan twice in 2000 and 2001 and liked it alot. The first visit wasn't quite as good as the second stay, some minor but annoying housekeeping issues and we just found that one room was too small for our growing family. The second trip we got a King connecting to a Double room and we LOVED it.

We love the location. We love the hotel. My kids loved the kids club and the pizza was good.

For the whole "Disney feeling" we prefered the Poly, but we actually liked the Swan way more than our stay at the Contemporary.

And at least for us, the Swan was a super cheap value. I paid around $107 (SOG overflow rate) the first time, and only $75/room the second trip (post 9-11 sale).

Next up for us is Pop and free dining, but I'd go back the Swan again if the price was right.

Always ;-)

Yes, they do, but if you get a great rate like I did(teacher rate or $149) then that $9 is no big deal when your saving between $100-$200 a night over the other Epcot area Deluxes.

I agree with the poster that says it's a 4 star stellar hotel at a moderate price by Disney hotel standards. We love it and stay there about every other time we go. We had a moldy room once at the Swan but they happily switched us with no problems and no attitude.

I have a question about the parking. I heard somewhere on these boards, can't remember when, that they now charge $9.00 per exit for the self-parkers. Is that true - or is it $9.00 per night? If it's $9.00 per exit I would have a very difficult time swallowing that and I may not love it as much.
