The SUV prices with Alamo dropped another $15!!

I used the walmart code 430710 and BY and the $15 coupon on their site D42C (all public codes). I got the base weekly rate (for each week) of $114 (minus the coupon is breaks down to about $109 a week). I tried the passholder code, but the walmart code beats the price by $1.

Thanks! I plugged those codes in and it didn't change my final price after taxes ($129.72). I'm still going to keep checking to see if I can get the price dropped lower.

Thank you all! I booked 9 days for $175.00 in August. I'll keep checking if it drops!

Does anyone know if it's ok to combine the Wal-Mart code listed on Mousesavers with the Entertainment book coupon? Alamo's site is letting you do it, but I would hate to get up to the counter and have them deny the rate because two different discounts were used.
Mousesavers indicates that you cannot STACK the discounts...the coupons also state this...that said - I've taken a chance & used my AP discount, with it's associated code plus the entertainment coupon ($20 off). I figure worst case scenario; they'll deny the coupon.

Moreso, I'm hoping for one of their on-line coupons to crop up soon & will use it to modify the res. Who knows, at that point perhaps a new res. w/prepay will be a better deal - no rhyme or reason to rates anymore IMO.

I used the Wal-mart corporate id and rate code with an entertainment book $25 off coupon....will we be ok with this?

So far we have the SUV booked at $120 for 7 days and it is such a great rate!

Still trying to reserve now so I can lock in on a decent price but I am still coming up high, IMO. Any help?

My dates are :
Pickup--Sat 6/24 @ 11am
Drop-off Sun 7/2 @ 2:00 pm

I used both the Walmart codes (428448 or 430710) and they are giving the same discount, along with the BY in rate/product code box. I also tried using the AP code and the price is a dollar or so higher. I'm getting an ENT book coupon from a friend who isn't using hers at all, but she just mailed it to me and I don't have it yet.

The cheapest rate I'm getting is for an intermediate SUV for $202.51--including taxes. Can anyone think of something to help get the rate lower?

This is a 9 day rental since you're dropping off later than the p/u time and the price per day isn't all that much higher than my 7 day rental. I'm paying about $19.30/day and you're rate is $22.50/day - doesn't seem all that bad to me for an SUV. It seems as if all the better rates are coming up for those of us renting during the month of May. :confused3

Thanks for the break-down, you're right it really isn't that bad at all! :)

I guess I got spoiled with my rental from earlier this month with nat'l--9 days + a couple of hours for $139.xx! That was with taxes. :) I've gotta remember June/July months are busier & I'm less likely to see the low prices from January!

After reading the OP's message, I checked and plugged in the prepay, $15 off and the BY and saved 90.00 on my rate. Went from 265.00 to 176.00 for 9 days-May 27-June 5. Thanks so much for posting the information.

The prices for National mid-size SUV also dropped yesterday using the 6600330 code and their $25 coupon. I have one reserved for 1 week and 1 day for a total of $173 including taxes. The base price for the week was $136 now. It's sad that the intermediate price is higher. Hopefully this trend with rental companies will continue and we'll start seeing falling prices, because the prices are pretty high right now. My trip is Feb. 2-10, but haven't seen any movement for my April 23- May 5 trip yet.

I just wanted to Thank YOU !! :thumbsup2 I had a reservation through Alamo for my Feb. trip, but using the info you gave, I saved $16 dollars through National !
I am however very unfamiliar with National, I signed up for Emerald Club with the Mousesavers link, when I get to the airport, do I skip the counter and go straight to the car ??

If you made your reservation through logging into your emerald account, your reservation should be emerald reserve and should say that on your print-out. If that is correct, you do bypass the counter, go to the SUV aisle and select a mid-size SUV--be sure you select a mid-size and not a standard. I know an Equinox is a mid-size, not sure whatelse--ask if you are uncertain or check the hang tag on the mirror to see if it says mid-size. Drive to the kiosk to exit and hand them your printout, driver's license, credit card used on the account, and hangtag off of the mirror. Though the $25 coupon says e-coupon, I still printed it out so that there was no confusion.

I found this link on the DIS earlier and found the Alamo quote to be much lower than applying the codes provided earlier in the thread :thumbsup2

http://www.vacationoutlet.com/car/default.asp

I'm still pretty much convinced I must have done something wrong but, hopefully, have booked our 3 wk car rental for £274.51 - about £50 less than the online quotes I've been finding :cool1:
Just need to re-new my insurance policy now :rolleyes1

We have an existing ressie for a mid size SUV for May at $250. Just to see how much it would drop I just went and put in rate code BY, ID 430710 and used the e-coupon for $15 off (D42C) and got $209.95 for a 11 day rental period.

The $15 off coupon says it can't be combined with other offers. Has anyone tried combining these offers and not had a problem when they went to pick up the car??? If they won't allow the combining of codes then why do they let you do it on the site?

This $25 e-coupon....is this an Entertainment coupon or is it online somewhere?

I see a lot of you are renting SUVs...I have 6 in my party so we need a minivan...do any of those coupons and codes work for a minivan Dec 9-16?

the e-coupons are located on the website. National, click specials and you'll see a series of coupons to fit certain times and cars. I think the $25 might be on minivan too. Though it's an e-coupon, I still printed mine to take with me.

Alamo is the same, just click specials and you'll see the coupons listed.

BUMP

Anyone know if you can get away with combining a contract ID and rate code WITH a coupon code?????

n2mm,

I noticed you mentioned not paying the concession fee with National (I'm assuming you mean with contract id 6600330). We'll, I just checked rates for our upcoming trip (1/27-2/3), and although the prices were the same, the 9.8% concession fee was showing up.

Just thought I'd let you know. Has anyone else seen this happen lately?

Does anyone think I'll get charged, or is the price you were quoted the price you will pay?

I just booked the SUV (equinox) from Alamo for 4/20-4/27 for $115 including all taxes/fees. The best rate I had before was $170 for a mid-size. Thanks OP for the heads up!

booked a 9 day rental thru alamo march 9 - march 18 total price 196.56

used the costco discount appr 25% off plus $25.00 off weekly rental coupon.

the rental is for an equinox mid size suv :cheer2:

The only time I have the concession fee still show up is if I'm booking a minivan. Don't know why. But I'll go check my ressie to see if it has changed. tks.

UPDATE; yes they added the concession fee to my reservation. Now I'll had to take a look at some other deals.
