I talked DH into having the reveal yesterday, at 10 days out. I figured going "next week" is still a great surprise. Saturday night I worked out the treasure hunt DH had thought of. Of course, he was sleeping and didn't know I did it, so he was trying to make it while we were at church :rotfl: Good thing I came in the door first! I sent him out the door with my envelopes to hide.

After lunch we told the girls to get on their coats and boots. I handed them a note about their treasure hunt. They had to find 7 envelopes outside. Each one had a math problem inside for each girl. They found them and brought them inside to work on. Each answer corresponded to a letter, and they filled out my code message- "Look at the November calendar". They did and saw the brightly colored "Disney World" on our dates.

Much screaming, hysterical laughter, and rolling on the floor together ensued, followed by a hug for Daddy in his recliner... Then they decorated their new autograph books and made a SHORT paper chain!

DD11 had previously said that hypothetically she would rather be in on the planning instead of being surprised, but now she said we should do this again to her next year :lmao: I think the 10 days notice was better for them than telling them the day of departure.

how exciting, we just can't hold it in to keep it a suprise and my DN6 going on 26 thinks that she needs to be in on all the planning so she can make sure we eat at all the right places and meet all the right characters!!!

glad the suprise went great!!!

This one was easier to keep a surprise- instead of booking months ahead, I just booked 5 weeks ahead. Normally it's fun getting all their input and talking about it for those months, but this was our opportunity to surprise. And we're doing Quick Service Dining Plan, so only two ADRs made, one of which is DD11's favorite so she'll be satisfied. It was going to be a no-planning trip, but really, I've got it all worked out in my head :surfweb:

Their teachers were in on it, and they both said "So that's why she's been smiling at me a lot!" They have 1.5 days off school during our trip, and DD8 kept trying to plan parties for her friends, so I would say, no, I'm going to have to work those days...

They still don't know our resort, or our ADR's, so we're not done yet. Also don't know Terence is a possibility at the Fairies, or that Marie is more common now.
