Starting the month with 12873.77 miles.

June miles = 71.66

Hope everyone is doing well, having fun, & gettin' those miles in!

I just ran my 12th Half, and got more blisters...

Hey Goofs,

I had 67.2 miles for June, mostly running. I have been way too busy at work to make many of my lunchtime spin classes. I have also had a horrible cough the last week and a half that is making it hard to do much cardio except for light jogging or the elliptical with little resistance. I'm pretty frustrated with it and am ready to be done with it!

I am running a 10K this weekend. It's supposed to be pretty hot but it is starting early so hopefully it stays fairly cool until I finish.

I didn't have any races in June but have three in July as well as running an hour on the track for our Relay for Life event.

I hope everyone is healthy and happy and has a fun, safe July 4th weekend!

Hi Goofs...

214 miles for me in June. Had a few "motivationally challenged" days on the XT front that kept the miles down.

Angie Fantastic! All the races you do are great--the blisters are not. Keep trying new things to fix them, something is bound to work eventually. I get deep blisters on/under calluses on my big toes (yes, too much detail) that bother me on runs of 8+ or so; and I just bought some "toe caps"--silicone pieces that slip on over your big toes. When I opened the package, found that they were really think, so I figured, "here's a waste of $16!". Amazingly, I ran 12 miles on Sunday, and they seemed to work! No blisters, and no pain/tenderness.

Steve Get better soon. And good luck at your 10k.

Rich Glad to hear your legs are coming back ( so to speak)

Jeanette Congrats on your weight! And I hope your vegetarian conversion goes well. I'm not inclined to go full-on veggie, but I have decided totry and incorporate at least one bona fide veggie meal /week into our diet (pasta with olive oil and cheese--one of my lazy meals-- doesn't count!) Will be easier to do once DS leaves for school ;) deekaypee--on the Ohana team-- is a vegetarian. I bet she could give you some "dining at Disney" tips. Plus Allearsnet.com talks about vegetarian dining at the World.

Time to go run & yoga....

Maura

June was pretty good even with taking 9 days off for my calf.
75.1 Miles Running
41.0 Miles Swimming
116.1 Total Miles

How is it already July? June went by incredibly fast!

65 miles running
61 miles walking
33 miles cross training

June total: 159 miles

A definite improvement over last month, so that's good. My half-marathon training is pretty much in full swing now, too; I'll be finishing up my 7th week on Saturday. Only 13 weeks to go!

The icing on the cake is that I managed to lose 8 pounds in June! If I can keep that up through July and August I'll be all set. With my weekly miles increasing, hopefully that will be enough to keep shedding the pounds. It has been a great motivator though: the more I run, the more I lose and the more weight I lose, the more I want to run!

Happy July everyone!

~Nicky

July??? Wasn't it just May?

I got 83.5 miles for last month.

Planning on breaking triple digits this month!!

June miles - 100.29. (Told ya they were low. Maybe I should actually start tracking yardwork or something. . . )

Steve - good luck on the 10k!

Nicky - way to go with the weight loss! Glad to hear the training is going well.

Angie - 12 halfs? That's a pretty impressive accomplishment. Are you trying to do a half in every state?

Maura - way to go with those miles!

Ok - I gotta figure out the miles thing. It'll be good for me, right?

jmasgat told me to come on over!

I am a walker - not a runner. I have never walked in any kind of race but I walk almost every day for exercise (approx. 5 mi. in 75 min.).
I am a Disney fan and would love to walk one of their marathons. Looking for support in this goal.
Thank you and happy 4th of July weekend.

Welcome to the Goofs! (This is coming from the newest member - I think).

I am new to running, really just started about 6 months ago, but I've turned the corner and looking forward to my runs versus thinking of them as work. I should clarify, I walk/run. I'm at 3 minutes run 2 minutes walk now, but started with 1 minute run 4 minutes walk. The Wine & Dine half relay will be my first Disney race and my longest to date.

I know there are plenty of others who walk Disney races. SamSam is one I know of.

Have you picked a race that will be your first? There may already be a race support thread going for it. It's fun to get to know others who will also be racing and get tips from the vets.

Feel free to come back with any questions - this is a great group!

Welcome cotillard! :goodvibes

My June miles were 46.28.

Got in about 12 miles this week, left knee just keeps nagging at me and I still feel sluggish. I hope this passes before the real miles kick in! :scared:

Running the Peachtree this Sunday with DH. It will be painful, but I will get it done. :thumbsup2

Maura, thanks for posting Saucony's response. What do you make of it?!? Are your toes still bothering you? :confused3

OK Goofs, have an awesome holiday weekend!!! :grouphug:

Howdy, there. I'm Todd. I'm kinda quiet round here because I don't have much to add, as I am still a novice at running. I enjoy getting out and moving. Lately its been hard for me to mke myself stop and get ready for work.

Just like Mrs. D, I am doing the Wine & Dine Half Marathon and am quite stoked. I went and cheered during marathon weekend 2010, and decided I had to be a part of it in 2011--just haven't decided what I'm doing quite yet.:donald::mickeyjum:goofy:

Everyone that I've had contact with in this group has been extremely welcoming and friendly. And I love reading their experiences.

Happy July All!

Just back from 7 nights at WDW. Had great weather (HOT) and had a great time. Hopefully don't have to wait 4 more years before we get back there again.

I WANT TO GO BACKKKK!!! :sad1: Ok, I done with my whine now. Why is coming home from vacation so hard and even harder when you are coming home from WDW. I did actually get in three short runs while we were there. I really enjoyed my run from OKW to DTD via the nature path. That was nice running along the canal.

I was down on my June miles, life just was too busy, only logged in 92 miles.

Sounds like everyone is working really hard getting ready for races. I still haven't decided if I'm going to run a 1/2 or full this fall, guess I should get off my but and decide so I can really start training.

Have a Happy fourth of July!!! Happy Birthday America!

Happy 4th!

Kicked off the morning with a 5k and then a 10k to cool down.
Finally ran under 19 minutes for the 5k 18:47. The 10k was an hour later and completely miserable. I used it as a training/cool down run. Could definately feel the heat during the 10k though. Now I'll mow the grass and call it a day. Sometimes I question my decisions.

Nicky Congrats on the weight loss. Glad your training is going well

cotillard (I keep thinking of Marion Cotillard when I see your tag!) Welcome to the Goofs. Sounds like you a re a pretty strong walker. And the WISH boards have plenty of walkers who have done every Disney race imaginable.

Shan I understand Saucony's response--maybe next time I'll try the wide version. I discovered some silicone toe caps, and so far (2 long runs of 12 & 13 miles) they have worked well. Now though, I am developing blisters in new spots! (Not related to the toe caps). Hopefully moleskin will do the trick for those.

Jeanne Glad your WDW visit went well. And hope you can go back sooner than later.

Jason Congrats on your speedy 5k. And of course, EVERYONE, does 10k to cool down ;)

How am I going to get in my workouts when the World Cup AND Tour de France are on?......

Maura
