The SUPER GOOFS are red, white and blue in JULY

Hey Goofs,
Still running, just struggling a lot with my motivation. I have no fall races planned at the moment (not really wanting to do the long runs for a marathon in the summer heat), so I am doing pretty low mileage for the week. Streak continues, and I did four days of barefoot running last week, and have had a couple very nice tempo runs, but I just can't shake the feeling that I have been slacking instead of actually training.

Good to hear that other people are taking up the slack! Keep those feet moving, and keep on running!

Maura - WTG on the 20 miler! :cool1: Bummer about the shoes. How did the Vomeros feel?

Dawn - CONGRATS!!!

Genny - Congrats on your race! :thumbsup2

Jason - WTG on the 12 miler! :woohoo:

Steve - That half sounds awesome! I'll gladly take a glass of wine! :lmao:

Jeanne - Congrats on signing up for your first full! :cheer2:

Sorry if I missed anyone. Probably shouldn't even be sitting here on the computer since we're in a big electrical storm! :scared1:

Long run of 7.5 miles on tap later this week, had some minor surgery done under local on Friday, so I'm a little hesitant. Nothing major, just stuff I'm still dealing with from my surgery a couple years ago. Still have one more surgery under local to go and then I'll finally be done with it! Anyway, wish me luck on the 7.5 miler! :rotfl:

Hey there Goofs!

Just checking in. I'm officially over halfway done with my training plan! Of course, I'm now a couple of days behind because I came down with a head cold. I'm planning on going out today for my first run since Friday, assuming I can breathe well enough. Last week/this week I am doing 19 miles total, with my long run being 7 miles. I'm starting to think that 13.1 miles is a long way to run! I really can't wait until the heat and humidity goes down a little, but I am hopeful that it is helping me prepare for Florida in October.

I am really starting to get excited/nervous about my first 1/2 marathon - so much so that I am starting to have nightmares about it! It would be nice if I could shut my brain off when I sleep. In my dream the other night, I ended up running in jeans and dress shoes and the shoes were giving me blisters. We had to wade through water at one point, too. Although I will say that while I was "running", I never felt winded or tired, so that was good! :rotfl:

Hope everyone's summer is going well!

Afternoon Goofs.

Coming out of lurker-dom to  and say that I am doing the Chicago Muddy Buddy this weekend to make up for the one I missed in Orlando in May due to being in the infirmary.

Hey Goofs,
Still running, just struggling a lot with my motivation.

Same boat here. I really don't want to do my long runs and it is pulling teeth for me to get any quality runs in right now. I'm still targeting an Oct marathon, but if I don't get in gear, I won't be ready. All the relatives visiting and getting sick hasn't really helped either. All I want to do is curl up and sleep.

Rich and Jason Line up and I'll kick your backside! ;) I understand the motivation thing. I've lost all motivation for following a tri training plan. But I've decided not to beat myself up. Hope you guys find the spark soon.

Shan I like the Nike Vomero. They have lots of room in the toe box and I have had no problems with the heel sipping--even though I bought a 9 instead of 8-1/2. Of course, I am still getting blisters! But I taped my feet this past weekend and it seemed to help on one side. Will have to tape both the same way this weekend and see what happens. It's taking me longer and longer to get ready to run!

Nicky Ah yes, the dreams. They can be pretty funny or scary, depending on what happens. I know I've had my fair share--although fortunately have forgotten the details. Congrats on your training. Sounds like it's going well. and I bet you'll be ready in October. I ALWAYS question my ability to run a specific race distance--even if I've done it before! But don't worry-you'll get there.

Todd Have fun at Muddy Buddy. I sorta missed doing it at Stony Creek this year, but my partner decided to do it with her mom (my friend) instead. Too bad they didn't have the Muddy Run--or whatever they call it. At some of the locations, you can enter by yourself and just run the whole thing.

Running, yoga, spackling. Yup, that was my day. Plus buying a SIM card for my DD before she goes to Germany and Italy. Some people have all the fun!

Update - the spark still isn't there. I had a great tempo run on Monday (4 miles in just over 26 minutes, and while it was hard, it was only pushing 8 on the 1-10 scale, so I should be able to break 26 fairly easily, and even breaking 25 might be in reach), and then a couple medium/hard "recovery" runs the last couple days. Hard running is going to be out of the question for a few days - this morning, we got a delivery of 10 cubic yards of river rock, and moving that is going to leave me too sore for any quality runs for a while.

Dawn Add my congrats to your wonderful weight loss. And hope the race you are organizing comes together. I have no sdvice, although there are 1 or 2 race organizers on the WISH board--you may be able to get some advice.

cotillard I imagine a beach walk could be quite challenging depending on what part of the beach you walk on. Good luck on continuing with C25K. And don't worry about the past. I didn't start any of this til nearly 50, and I don't have real regrets because I know that only now do I have the interest and commitment to make it worthwhile.

Thank you so much for these words of wisdom. I agree with you too - I didn't have the interest or the commitment until THIS time in my life.
I've been away from the boards for a few weeks but I've been keeping up with my C25K training and am loving it. I'm in Week 5 now!

Genny - Congrats on your race! :thumbsup2

Thank you very much.
