The "Strange Facts About Me" Thread.

This is a neat thread! Thought I'd add on..

1. All three of my children were due on the same day - August 30th.. None of them were born on that day.. One in August (the 25th) and two in September..

2. My DGD was the first girl born on her dad's side of the family in 85 years!

3. I'm lefthanded and years ago wanted to learn how to crochet.. Unfortunately, all the directions were for righthanded people, so I stayed up all night long and learned how to crochet with my right hand..

4. Back in 2000, I developed gas gangrene in my right hand.. (Freak accident with a brand new screwdriver and a puncture wound to the palm of my hand..) I had to have emergency surgery to save my life and they thought they were going to have to amputate my right hand.. The surgeon later used my experience as a case study for interns at a large medical center because gas gangrene is seen so infrequently nowadays..

5. My first baby weighed 8 lbs. and was born breach - without a C-section - after 48 hours of labor.. Can you say "OUCH" ??? :eek: C-sections were only used for life and death situations back in those days..
 
1. I've danced (clogging) on the Grand Ole Opry stage (as well as most of the other stages in the old Opryland park).

2. I like playing in the rain.

3. We visited a traditional fish & chips establishment in Belfast N.Ireland and I ordered chicken.

4. I have been on Loch Ness in search of Nessie and will be going back next summer.

5. I volunteer for everything and often overcommit myself.

6. Public speaking doesn't bother me but I have a really hard time striking up a one-on-one conversation with someone.

I've never seen any of the Star Trek movies

I skipped a year ahead, then transferred schools and lied about my age so my peers would not know I was younger than them

I spend four weeks of the year in the Caribbean

1. I moved from one state to another 6 times before I was 15.

2. My dad's brothers are a year apart in age. My brother and I are less than a year apart in age. My DDs are less than a year apart in age. My grandmother and mother went on to have one more child about 10 years later - but I don't plan to carry on that tradition.

3. My maiden name has 13 letters in it.

4. I have a law degree and passed the bar exam, but don't practice law.

5. I met my DH when I was 12 and started dating him when I was 13. I moved away a year later but we maintained an on again off again (mostly on) long-distance relationship for 7 years and married when I graduated from college.

6. I skipped a grade.
 

I can't whistle.

I dont like lettuce on anything but I love to eat salads.

I refuse to touch bologna.

I hate talking on the phone. No one likes talking to me on the phone either because my disgust of it shows. LOL

I hate socks and if it wasn't for cold winters, I wouldn't own a single pair.

I have never seen the Pirates of the Carribean movies but it's my all time favorite ride at the World.
 
1. My first and only boyfriend in high school was born one minute after me in the same hospital. We were in connecting OR's.

2. Took a wrong turn in Mississippi and experienced the Klu Klux Klan burning crosses on lawns. (this was in the 80's)

3. As a child Tom Sestak and Paul McGuire owned a bar at our corner. My dad was a dead ringer for Paul McGuire so the bartenders would buy all my dads drinks and he would sit at the bar and pretend to be him...

4. OJ Simpson was at our Sports banquets and called me lefty and signed my autograph's first every year.

5. The day before my husband's first wedding, he spent the evening with me (not physical). Two years later realized he made a huge mistake and we are now married.

6. I have a huge gap between my second and third toe on each foot creating V's on my feet.

7. I attended Chelsea Noble and Kirk Cameron's wedding.

8. I use to listen to the Go Go Dolls when they were a garage band.
 
1. I graduated high school when I was 15.
2. My son was born on our 4-year wedding anniversary and my nephew was born on his parents' 1-year wedding anniversary.
3. I bowled with Bertrand Russell's grandson (I won!).
4. My first and middle names rhyme.
5. I went to high school and college with some moderately famous actors and actresses. Most of them were jerks (but Wesley Snipes used to let me into the college pub when I was underage. Yay!).
6. My 11th grade crush eventually posed nude for Playgirl.
7. I once went to the UK for the weekend to see a guy I liked (yeah, that was smart).
8. I catered my best friend's wedding.
9. All the names in my and my husband's immediate families start with "J" (there are 10 of us, including my son and a new sister-in-law).
10. After our elderly dogs passed away and debating on when to get a new one, a 5-year old, house-trained (but in need of eye surgery) cocker spaniel showed up in our driveway (no one claimed him, so we treated and kept him).
11. I ended up buying a house that my late mother always pointed out as her favorite.
12. After years of saying that I'd never date a guy I met in a bar, I married one.
 
Neat thread...

1- I have only one lung.

2- As a child I was in many presidential campaign commericals.

3- I hate seafood (smell, taste, feel - everything). Ofcourse I knew this before I developed an allergy to it. It is much easier now that I can say I am allergic when offered seafood. People always swear that they make it better than anyone else and if I just tried it I would love it. :confused3

4- I am PTA President at my dd's school and not too happy about it. :laughing:

5- When I bought my very first new car I test drove only automatics but ended up buying a stick because I could not afford automatic and AC. Ofcourse I went for the AC. The day I picked it up is when I told my salesman I would need a few pointers on how to get it home.

6- All of my cars have been painted green.

7- Like live4christp1 I can talk to groups of people but have a hard time with one on one conversations with people I do not know.
 
I can turn my feet completely backwards.

It's kinda gross. :laughing:
 
Hi ProudMom! Glad to meet someone who has the same thing. :thumbsup2 Do multiple family members have it, or just you? (I never wear nail polish on that toe, too much work to keep it separated until it dries! :lmao:)

No one before me had it, but my first son does. My dad thought it happened to me in my mothers womb but when my son came out with it, that theory went out the window. Whenever I get a pedicure they always have to repaint that nail.
 
1. My Maternal Grandmother's side of the family is related to Wyatt Earp.
2. I am scared to death of squirrels.
3. I'm a McDonald's sweet tea junkie. I go there so often, the drive thru people have my name memorized.
4. My birthday and my brother's birthday fall on the same day of the week.
5. I hate having attention called to me. I'm much more comfortable hanging on the outskirts of events and watching what's going on.
6. I got to meet Kellie Pickler at a concert once, and was not at all impressed with her, she was actually kind of rude.
7. In one season of Color Guard (In high school) we learned to twirl rifles, and I spun mine so fast I lost control of it and it smacked my shin leaving a divot in the skin. The divot is still there to this day.
8. I have never been on a roller coaster, I'm too chicken.
 
I just thought of one, the number 17 appears in many ways in my life. My birthday is January 7, so 1/7, my wedding anniversary is Sept 17 (didn't plan it because it was the 17th). My oldest was born 17 days early and so was I.

I didn't learn how to swim until I was in my late 30's and had a toddler daughter who was learning to swim, as well.

When I was a little girl I sent away for a certificate that made me the President of the Barbie Fan Club in my neighborhood. I used to hold meetings for all the other Barbie fans.

I detest the smell and taste of coffee, but one of my favorite flavors of ice cream is coffee ice cream.

At one point in my career I held a license to be a stockbroker (though I never practiced as one).

1. I am dealthy afraid of wasps. I will freak out when I see one, or even think I see one.
2. My guilty pleasure is popping in The Nanny Season 5 and eating cookie dough ice cream.
3. I don't let things go at all.
4. I don't take criticism very well.
5. I fall in love with fictional characters...Demetri (Anastasia)and Edward (Twilight) :)
7. I am very quite and reserved most of the time, but when I am with my family and close friends I am a crazy chicka ;)
 
I thought of a few more:

ºOº I still have a gray spot in my palm from where I accidentally stabbed myself with a pencil more than twelve years ago.
ºOº I describe myself as shy, but apparently I'm not.
ºOº If not for hair dye, I'd be completely gray by now.
ºOº I collect Barbies, shot glasses, and to a lesser degree, novelty telephones.
ºOº I like cauliflower.
ºOº I tried cauliflower for the first time this past April.

Both DD's are expected to be 6 feet tall, at least

I've been to Disney 49 times

I'm arrogant but try and hide it with humor

I have enough college credit hours for two masters degrees but I don't have a 4 year degree because I kept switching schools and majors

I procrastinate like crazy!
