The Stowaway Diaries: Mistakes, Retakes & Double Takes Update 4/30

You girls are so funny!!! You always seem to be having such a good time! :rotfl:

Only on vacation, obviously. Faith is quite serious at work. This has shown me an entirely different side of her. I'm not sure what I think of it yet. The yodeling just took it a step too far.

Oh Monica, a side business for line enforcement. Great idea. I know those private guides at the parks are expensive so this might be a good cash investment. Just make sure you get a cute uniform. It would have to be menacing to go with the job.

I could wear the hat with the horns! Faith looked pretty scarey in it!

You guys sure whoop it up, dontchya?

yodelling? for real? Too crazy.....:lmao: (I think it's Austria. And since they were held by Germany, that should count, right?)

But as Lynn pointed out in her post, the horns are pretty small. You'll just have to make a really mean face to compensate for having small horns. :rotfl:

Well since neither of them made sounds that even remotely sounded like a yodel, I guess it didn't matter that they were a few countries shy of a continent there.

Faith's paternal grandparents were from Austria but spoke German, I'm sure that's yodel-proof for her. She thinks she's right all of the time anyway.

So I'm sitting here in the family room in our vacation villa (that's our fancy name for it!) and laughing so hard, no one can hear the tv! Sorry, now everyone here has seen the pictures. Loved every single minute of it. I seem to encounter the rudest people at the WS too.
I had an interesting woman:snooty: sitting next to me on the EXACT bench the guys were sitting on in Germany.

love the hats. :cool2:

my last name is crowder so that sounded really weird to me! :rotfl2:

Dawn that is too funny. I can picture your reaction--yup, we're gonna git those crowders. :rotfl:

Kimmy, I can't believe you are checking in here while on your vacation (and in a villa, no less. woo-hoo). Hopefully I'll get up to Canada before it's over so that you can show your family some really ridiculous pictures. I think both Faith and Vik were a bit horrified after they got home and actually got to see these pictures. I know there are a few that Faith would have demanded retakes on if she had gotten to see them at the time.

Hope you are having a great time there.

Sharon - You looked very uncomfortable upside down in your lanyard. Those hat pictures are the best :rotfl: Those girls on the other hand rude and shame on their mothers for not stopping them from cutting you in the first place knowing their where 11 of them:scared1: . There's always someone in the crowd I guess.

Hi Laura. It was the only rudeness the group experienced all week. I think Faith would have been disappointed if she didn't have something like that to complain about. Plus she had warned Vik ahead of time and if this hadn't happened, Faith would have had to make something up just to prove that there are rude people, even at the greatest place in the world.

OK guys, it's a Friday afternoon, perfect time to finish off those hat pictures.

While Mo and Mike are still somewhere back around Italy, Faith and Vik forge ahead to Japan. What they are really hoping for in Japan is to find Geisha wigs but there is nothing close. They circle though all of the store areas twice and discover that Japan is not big on hats. The two hats they do find do not even look like they are from Japan. But a rule is a rule so they are taking pictures:

It's Faith turn to pick first and she selects:

She tilts her head down so that there will be a good camera angle on the top of the hat. I think she thought that if less of her head showed, it would look better. Well here's a secret for ya, Faith, NOT A CHANCE. You still look like an idiot. In fact, you remind me of Granny Clampett from the Beverly Hillbillies. Not sure that's what you had in mind, but there you go.

Vik, of course, looks much better in her hat:

After the disappointment in Japan, they are anxious to see what awaits them in Morocco. It's Vik's turn to pick first and she immediately goes for the fez:

100_0364_0001.jpg

I think she manages to pull it off fairly well, what do you think?

As Vik grabs that fez, Faith gets a sinking feeling in her stomach. She sees only one other option and it's not a good one. She looks at Vik and Vik looks at the selection and starts laughing. She tells Faith "OK, I won't make you do it". But Faith says no, a rule is a rule. If the roles had been reversed, she would have made Vik follow the rules too so she dons her one and only choice:

So what do you guys think? Do the glasses add to the allure? Do you think Faith should quit her accounting job and perhaps try to make it as a belly dancer?

Of course, Vik is having a very difficult time taking this picture. And Faith knows she must look pretty bad, she knew that before she ever picked the hat up so she has a pretty hysterical, embarrassing laugh going. But on the bright side, if there is one, it does kinda match her baggelini she's got on her back. A true disser through and through, she manages to find one that is lime green.

And the shop employee did manage to pretend they weren't there. Definitely a blessing.

Off they go to France. Faith is now in a bigger hurry to finish this up. Morocco was so much worse than she had ever imagined. France provides relief. Faith is a snow skier and wears a beret when she skis so she knows she doesn't look half-bad in one. She doesn't look half-good either but she knows that for her, half bad is as good as it's going to get.

Vik doesn't look too bad either but Faith knows this is one country that she wins the prize for.

And Mike must have a crepe while they are doing berets. That puts Mike at 4 snacks after that huge Coral Reef lunch. Plus they have an early dinner planned this night. The crepe is his least favorite of the snacks he's tried today. Nobody wants to share with him either.

Okay, it's over the bridge to merry old England.

Vik gets to pick first and since she's retired law enforcement, of course she takes the bobby hat:

Now, Faith is starting to realize that everytime it's Vik's turn to pick first, she gets stuck with a really bad one. And it's no different here.

So Faith gets stuck with the Peter Pan hat. Doesn't look much different than the Germany hat, does it. Well, thank goodness, I didn't have to suffer through her yodeling a second time. That would be more than a laminated FlatPerson can handle in one day.

Well guys, there's only one country left but I'm exhausted here from this installment. My little laminated fingers have such a tough time hoppng around on this big old keyboard. And actually, I'm fairly bored. This hat thing has been all about Vik and Faith. No focus on Flat Sharon.

So I'm saving Canada for the next one. Just be prepared.

FS
Faith does indeed look smashing in her beret! Lynn can't get past the fear of cooties to have fun and try on all the hats.
She would be more like the guys and have a drink and a snack from every country instead. Orange slushie thing was divine from what I could make out inside the backpack where I spent my vacation in DW.

Flat Lynn

I know I just IM-ed you this...but that morrocan monstrosity is hideous. No offense, it's the headwear, not you. :rotfl: :rotfl:

What could be at Canada???

I think the Peter Pan hat is cute.

I love how Vik just sets the hat on top of her head. I'm sad that hat's around the world is almost over. It's provided me with many laughs! Sharon I'm so sorry that you were ignored. Maybe you should be happy you didn't have to make a spectacle of yourself unlike some people!:rolleyes1

Flat Lynn, I envy you. How I wish I could have hidden my shame inside a backpack. But nooooooo, I had a front row seat to the carnage of hat modeling.

And I knew your 3d counterpart would be totally grossed out by the germ swapping that must have went on in those hats. I'm surprised Lynn even lets you look at these pictures.

The Morrocan Monstrosity. The name will stick now. And I'm sure there's some woman out there who could wear it well. It just wasn't Faith.

I think the Peter Pan hat is cute.

Thank you so much. You must be able to find a silver lining in everything. Thank Goodness it was just hats; can you imagine Faith in a Tinkerbell outfit? They had those right next to the Peter Pan hats.

Monica, you're right. I should be grateful that I'm not a showboat like Granny and Ellie Mae here. It's pretty hard to take Faith very seriously at work after having seen these.

And this could just be Hats Around the World, Part One. I think you all should be very lucky that there are not enough belly dancer head things in Morocco for all of the cool women. You stripped Faith of her food rights; she just might be feeling the need for some retaliation. On your next trip to WDW, I might suggest you stay far far far away from Morocco (and maybe Canada after you see those).

:rotfl: I can't see...tears running down my face....so funny!!!! I am so looking forward to more!

Hi Denise. And I see you are a fellow left coaster too. Welcome to the train wreck of these old people making fools of themselves at Walt's place. I'm hoping by exposing the truth, people will appreciate their own vacations more.

Thanks for showing the hats. Now I know that I don't want any. :joker:
I enjoy seeing people having fun. WDW is a great place to act silly! :woohoo:
