The Stowaway Diaries: Mistakes, Retakes & Double Takes Update 4/30

:( You didn't have fun Sharon?

Poor Mike!!!! I personally think everyone should go back to see the shuttle again and this time pretend to be reallllly excited for him!!! :thumbsup2

:( You didn't have fun Sharon?

Was it that obvious? I tried to tone it down a bit. Faith kept thinking about how many Tower of Terror drops were missed that day. What I couldn't get over was how many people were there. They could have been at WDW. What were they thinking.

I think if everyone had to go back again, they would just throw themselves under the tour bus and save themselves the agony.

Oh and Mike will be going back. The only way the group could get him to agree to leave was when Vik promised him the two of them would go back and actually stay there on vacation and watch an actual launch.

Yes, Vik took one for the team. Her sacrifice will be remembered for eternity.

OH, FlatSharon, THANK YOU so much for continuing with the report!!!!
I am thoroughly enjoying it and I did find this installment definitely "chuckle-worthy". I can especially relate to men who cannot find their way around a map AND I completely understand travelling with those interested in NASA-type things as we always make "unexpected" stops at Aviation museums and Air Force bases!!!!

I'm still here. Tell Faith I miss her on the peep board.

Sharon - I do feel sorry for Mike but I don't think that would have interested me one bit either, so I'm with Faith. Thanks for the pictures so I don't have to go no matter what. I still enjoyed your installment even though I didn't spit any beverage at my computer screen.

Poor Mike. You drag him around the happiest place on earth and you can't even allow him to pretend to be an astronaut for the day.:sad2: He fed you hot dogs, what more do you want!!

Tell Faith that the astronaut picture rates right up there with some of the hat pics.:rotfl: Does Mike have a permafrown?! He did have some fun right?

What's up with our dwindling readers? Oh wait! You haven't even read my update so what are you complaining about?!:rolleyes1

And Mike does know they show the launches on tv, right? Much better view than sitting a state away to see it in real life.

This installment really made me :rotfl2: . At least Mike was happy. I'm sure my DH would want to go over to see also. :rolleyes1 I salute Vic for her sacrifice. :thumbsup2

After the difficulty getting out of the parking lot, two wrong turns where they went way out of their way and absolutely no stopping to ask for directions, I really didn't think they'd ever get there. And once they did, I kind of wish they'd just stayed lost out in the country. A nap in the car would have been a better use of time.

I'm still here. Tell Faith I miss her on the peep board.

Hi Laura, Faith misses the peeps too. But she's still trying to lose that last 10 lbs--she's a determined person. And I give you permission to use any of these pictures should someone in your party think it's a great idea to go over there. Use my pics, save your money (for a fireworks cruise) and definitely save yourself a day you cannot get back.

Monica, the hot dog was the highlight of the day. After seeing what it cost, they made sure to enjoy them. Everytime they popped an M&M in their mouth, Vik would say "that was just another dollar spent".

And you have an update? Oh my, I need one of those giant rubber hammers to come out of the screen here and bonk me on the head. I'll be right over to read it to see what my man Hunter has been up to now.

Please keep writing!!

No joke, he said he wants to feel the vibrations of the earth as it takes off. You know how hard it is to keep a straight face when someone tells you that?

And I saw a shuttle launch. I watched that asteroid movie with Ben Affleck and had a great view of a launch. Maybe someone should get Mike that movie for Christmas?

Yes, we all owe Vik a debt of gratitude. I think it's even worse because the next launch is scheduled for the HOT season in Florida. I can already picture them sitting in lawn chairs in the Wal Mart parking lot (Mike has heard that's a good location to watch), waiting to feel those vibrations.

Oh boy. My family and friends don't understand why I'm super-picky about who is allowed to join us on Disney trips. You just proved my point.

Bless your heart Sharon! That definitely sounds like a day of torture. Tell Faith to tell Mike that I have seen the shuttle launch from inside the MAGIC KINGDOM!!! Much better than the wal-mart parking lot. It took off one night right after the fireworks. We were standing next to a CM who told us to keep looking up at the end of the show and we could see the shuttle. It kinda looked like part of the show. Leave it to Disney to arrange a shuttle launch as part of the show.:rotfl: I'm really proud of Faith for not losing it totally. I know it was rough.

I thought this update was very funny even if you were bored to tears FlatSharon (and Faith). I can just picture the guys navigating and the two girls smirking in the backseat. I'm sure Mike appreciates that you all went along with his plan!

We lucked out once and saw the shuttle take off while we were at WDW. It was December of 06 and Sam and I were staying at the Contemporary for the weekend. We were down in the gift shop and the CM told us the shuttle was taking off in a few minutes. We had no idea. We went to our room and had the most perfect view from our balcony. It was really an amazing sight to see. :)

They did ride the ridiculous shuttle launch simulator. Faith was expecting Mission Space, not even close. Don't get her started on it.
For all the advertising they do for this, it should be FANTASTIC! I was so sick of seeing commericials for it when we were in Florida :headache:

Well, you still manage to crack me up even when you are in a place you were not happy with. My dad had tried to drag me here every year and now I'm glad I have resisted, doesn't sound like my "thing" either.

Hi Danielle. If I had known before I invited them that there was even the most remote chance we'd have to go to Kennedy, I would have most definitely changed the plans. I cannot express how boring this day was. Mike and Vik are retired, they have 365 vacation days a year. But for the poor working stiffs of the world, it just killed Faith and Mo that they burned a vacation day for this.

Molly, watching the shuttle launch from MK would be the only interesting way to watch it. But for Mike, he's got to feel those vibrations. He doesn't get the Disney magic and the rest of us don't get the shuttle magic. Oh well, it's over now. Faith has time to recover.

Faith did speak up once, after they got out of the Dolphin parking lot, just to help them make the first turn at the stoplight because they were going the wrong direction. She thought she'd at least get them off of Disney property before turning them loose. Pitiful, I tell you.

And the view from the Contemporary. Now that would be a memory.

Kimmy, that shuttle launch simulator was hysterical. Vik and Faith still make jokes about it. First of all, no fastpass and the line was long and very disorganized. Then they get up to where they are getting "launch instructions" and this employee tells Vik that she will not be able to wear her sunglasses. They would have to get a locker. Mo opts to skip the ride and took the sunglasses. So the group was expecting "the ride" of a lifetime. They basically sit down and the chairs tilt back and it shakes. That's it. It was the stupidest thing. Even Mike, Mr. Nasa, bagged the ride.

So sorry that Faith's last day was ruined. :sad2: I am one of those crazy people who would love to go to Kennedy. I just never want to leave WDW long enough to go!

Hi! Just wanted to chime in, and tell you how much I've been enjoying your report. Thanks for sharing your point of view!! :thumbsup2

Sharon you're done with your report, I thought I had more coming. Please tell me there's more.:sad1:

Laura, I'm going to remember this the next time Mike is going to WDW. That way you can be invited and you can go with him to Kennedy while the rest of the people stay and have fun.

Well thanks for reading. Us flat laminated people can never get enough adoration.

Not quite done Laura. There's still the final dinner, paid for by Faith's company. Oh yeah, and it's my company too, I just don't have a corporate spending account like Faith does. But I at least got to see how that worked. That will be in my next installment.

Whew, thank goodness (wiping my hand across my head). I enjoy your installments so much, they always make me :lmao: .

Just wanted to let you know that I am still reading along and enjoying your updates! The last installment about the space center was hilarious! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
