the steelers

one more quick thought. we dont have to play dirty to win. we win because we're good. everyone else is just jealous.

Not a Steelers (or Bengals) fan but was watching the game and I didn't see any dirty playing going on. I only watched the first half but didn't see anything that was unusual for football, especially high tension playoff games. That shot to Palmer was terrible but purely accidental, you could tell the guy that did it was upset by it.

You want to witness some dirty players, watch the Atlanta Falcons, they didn't earn the nick name "Dirty Birds" for nothing.

Kimo lives in our area - his wife is from here. There was an article in our paper this morning (sorry - couldn't find a link) but it basically said that Palmer doesn't hold any ill feelings toward Kimo - it's part of the game and even Palmer didn't think it was intentional. Kimo was very upset by the hit and felt bad for Palmer and his family. He has apologized for the hit to Palmer, his family, the Bengals, etc. (not that it was intentional - just shows how it shook him up as well). I don't follow either player but by the article - I would find both of them class acts who genuinely understand that football in a contact sport and sometimes, injuries happen. I watched the hit, the replay and even over and over again on Tivo and although it was a tragic injury - I didn't see anything "dirty" or intentional about.

Mind you the Steelers aren't even my team - the Seahawks are!!!!!

I Can't stand them either . They have to play dirty to win.

There is absolutely no basis for that remark and you know it. It sounds to me like you are just upset over the loss, which is understandable, but to say our Steelers play dirty because you didn't like the outcome is just being a sore loser.

A totally unbiased opinion. Thank you 2 BigKIdz for chiming in.

We're from the town with the great football team.
We cheer the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Winning's a habit, not only a dream.
Go out and get them Steelers.

sorry...couldnt resist! ;)
Thank you for posting that. Some of my fondest memories of my dad involve watching the Steelers (and Pirates) and rooting them on. This song always makes me smile and think of him and how I am so grateful that he instilled the love of sports in me. It has helped in many professional situations.

That said, I think the OP has sour grapes.

GO STEELERS!

If you watched the game you would see that Kimo was diving at Carson Palmer prior to being touched by Eric Steinbach. Plus if you are being blocked into someone you don't wrap on the tackle. For you non football people that is when you use your arms to make the tackle. Watch, on the tackle he grabs the left leg. That is a truly DIRTY PLAY!!! Maybe not intentional, but still dirty.

::yes::

Dec. 4 game when Odell Thurman got tripped and went in low on Roethlisberger. (And for the record, I didn't think either that hit or the one by Luis Castillo in San Diego was dirty. Just unlucky.) And later in the week Ben said something to the effect of, "whenever a player goes low, it's probably dirty."

(I couldn't find the direct quote)

Funny when the shoe is on the other foot, it's dirty, when your team does it, it's "unfortunate".

Yes I'm a HUGE Bengals fan. I was almost in tears when Carson went down. Right now we are the #1 Colts fans. I would be absolutely shocked if the Steelers get past the Colts. That is, of course, unless they take out Peyton too. Then they may have a chance.

It's very sad when your team loses. But no announcer, other player or coach thinks that the hit to Carson Palmer was intentional....even your own coach stated that's what happens in football.

I expect the Colts will be a very tough game. Everyone is cautiously optimistic. You just never know what's gonna happen in football. That's what makes it such a great sport.

Your comment about Peyton was in very poor taste.

firstmicky - being one of the few (and far between) Pittsburghers who is not a Steeler fan I'm used to being the odd man out. Pittsburgh is a kind of town where you can have a difference of opinion (at least when it comes to sports) and no one bashes you for it. It's all in good fun!

With that said: "Go Indy!" :cool1:

Have you ever seen footage of Jerome Bettis off the field or seen him when he's co-sportcasting? He is a force to be reconed with on the field but off, he's actually very humble and genuine.
I was @ the 1st training camp when Jerome arrived from the Rams (L.A - Rams); he took the time to speak to EVERY child who waited for him after the team dinner and sign autographs. Since then, his fame has grown but, he's very active in the community in many different causes.

As for saying the Rooney's don't support charity...perhaps you should do a web search...Central Catholic HS, Arts & History Museum, HS training camps, non-profit auctions, the list goes on & on...?

As for the Bungels (I mean Bengels), we've watched them from the Boomer Esiason days. Who Dey...they done cryin' yet. Their own coach didn't have the play reviewed for a penalty. The 2 players involved had been on the same team...the "culprit" was obviously upset on camera that the QB was hurt. Prof. football players are well-compensated for playing a game that, unfortunately, severe life-threatening injuries do occur. The refs are there to see that cheap shots don't occur & dirty plays are justly rewarded w/penalties, fines & suspensions.

Funny, how no one from Cinci seems to remember the Steeler QB taking a shot to his knees that resulted in surgery & several crucial missed games this season.

Personally, I cannot stand how Coach Cower grandstands & panders to the camera but, the team has a winning history under his guidance.

Yes, everyone needs heros...many look to sports teams...others I've heard of worship a :earsboy: . Different strokes for different folks...from me & mine:

Get on the Bus

Will Drive On Thru to Indy!!

Come on! I didn't say it was intentional. I do, however, think it was a cheap shot. You're right it sucks when your team loses. I should know I'm a loyal Bengals fan. And I agree with you about why football is a great sport. Any team can win on any given Sunday. That's the beauty. The Peyton comment was made in jest. I don't believe players go on the field with the intention of hurting someone. If I did I couldn't be such a big football fan. I guess I got my own cheap shot in.

With that being said....Go Colts!

How bout' dem Steelers.!!

It's gonna be a good time this weekend.! Watch out Indy.!

Ditto - and the guy who wrote that song lives in my neighborhood. Go Browns! (What do you mean they're not in the playoffs?) Oh well, guess we'll cheer for Indy too.
