The star wars spoiler thread

Yeah. I think it's hard to find the balance. Anakin is a better character if you want The Clone Wars and there is much better understanding of the Prequels. And because of understanding that better Kylo Ren is actually as near to a perfect character as you can build. He's more powerful than he knows how to handle, he's a typical kid who thinks he is more powerful than he really is, and his teaching is unfinished. So he is an emotional, temperamental brat. A perfect comparison to early Anakin and about what you would expect of a powerful force user in the position he is in.

Ren may be what Yoda & Obi-Wan were afraid of Luke becoming in Empire when he left to face Vader too soon- if Vader and Palpatine got their hands on Luke before he was ready. Don't know~ just speculating!

Fascinating little tidbit... I've been searching for Rey's Theme (piano sheet music) and came across a Reddit thread that discussed it. Someone noticed that Kylo Ren's theme music is basically a sinister version of Rey's.

If you look up the soundtrack and want to check it out, here's what to look for:
Kylo Ren's theme: 4:19 in "Main Title and the Attack on the Jakku Village"
"Rey's Theme": 0:29

I won't take credit for it. Here's the link: https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWars/comments/3xlkw4/ive_transcribed_reys_theme_tfa_for_piano/

That can't be a coincidence that his theme is just a dark version of hers. No way.

Maybe Kylo Ren and Rey are twins that somehow got separated at birth like Luke and Leia.....

Why would Leia and Han separate them at birth, though?

It isn't confirmed, but Kylo Ren seems older than Rey. I know the actors have significant age differences. However, that doesn't mean anything in Hollywood.

In the novelization (which comes out in January), apparently Kylo Ren recognizes Rey. I don't know in what capacity, though (haven't read it yet... just heard about it on Star Wars sites).

I'll respectfully postulate...again...that he was never supposed to be framed as darth Vader.

I'm wondering if we were watching the same movie.

And he pulled off the torment way Better than Hayden Christiansen on any day...

Really don't know why we keep getting "he was whiney" and "Vader was cooler"???
i thought he came across as a wuss who my 12 yr old girl could beat up
JMO of course

Maybe they're both skywalkers?

I just won't push this twin thing...

That's based on books Lucas allowed for guys that paid him $20 bucks long ago and people want to keep drawing that stuff in.

pretty sure my 43 yr old but would have no trouble with him LOL
im sure he ll get better in the next one

Will he get better as a powerful, but confused character manipulated by the most evil thing out there while failing to live up to his pedigree as a "legend"?...causing conflicted and erratic behavior?

I mean...I'm not saying that's what they were going for or anything...

so could the next movie be more about Kylo and Reys development? and growth?

I was just throwing that out there as I can't see how she could be Han's daughter as some people are speculating....Being twins and her being separated when young is the only possibility I see working for that parentage.

I reckon Leia was pregnant when she split with Han but didn't tell him. She then sent her away to safety after Ren turned to the darkside.

Rey will train and fight Ren again. Luke will face Snoke or Del Toros character

Leia split with Han because Ben turned to the dark side. So going with this theory, she would have to be pregnant when Ben turned, or shortly thereafter.

That seems to be the general premise of the story...

It's lines up pretty well with the Star Wars arcs we've already seen.

The Finn/Poe characters are two halves of the Han Solo role...Rey is the Luke/Leia figure...ren is the twist on darth Vader.

How they develop ren is the most important part of the story...his arc will determine whether these new movies will be memorable/iconic or just popcorn flicks...

...that's how I see it right now.

Kylo ren can be at most about 30...rey is probably 20.

The whole brother/sister angle doesn't really work here.

But...if Star Wars still is to be the story of anakin skywalker and his descendants...as George Lucas has said 1,000 times over...then Rey and ren being cousins makes perfect sense.

Moreso than brother and sister if we're honest.

The actors are 9 years apart, but they look more. I also believe Leia was pregnant with Rey when Ben went bad (you don't have to be older than Anakin movie 1 to kick the crap out of people if you're a Skywalker and they can easily say he was 13-15 when it happened). Leia probably didn't tell Han about the baby - thus, why he never recognized Rey, but Leia did at the end. I think the "able to do anything with a machine" abilities Rey had scream Han. And it also explains how Rey didn't die in the ending lightsaber fight (when, c'mon, she really should have). Ben couldn't quite kill his own sister, especially after taking down dear old dad...she never did anything to him (whereas, Han left), so she was much more "innocent" - plus, he could turn her as the older bro...

So you Think kylo ren was 11 when he went nuts, recruited or joined a cult of dark assassins, and executed a school of Jedis in training?

Or you think he was drawn into that and other people did the dirty work prior but are no
Longer around?

Those are your two options based on the flashback sequence
