The Springs at Kelly Park?

Has anyone been here? How far from Disney area? I'm having a hard time finding information on their site. I see it's open in the winter. Do they still have lifeguards? Is it deep? Are there tables or chairs to leave your stuff on while you are in the springs? Snakes freak us out, are there any swimming with you? TIA!

Yes ... We go there every trip .... that is 2 times a year for the last 10 years.

Kelly Springs is near Apopka ... north west of Disney .

It is about 30 miles from Disney.

The easiest way is to go on the Hwy 429 to Apopka & when it joins Hwy 441 turn Right Then TURN LEFT & take Rock Springs Rd ( 435)

What is it .... Well it is Natural Cold Water Spring

There is a Sandy Man Made Swim Pool With a Half mile long 3 ft deep

slow moving 10ft wide river .. At the end the Barrier Stops you and you walk back via boardwalk to start.

There are Picnic Tables & BB pits

It's a county / town park. There are picnic tables and covered eating areas, but not right along the creek. There's a lot of room to leave chairs and stuff by the swimming hole. You have to rent the tubes outside the park and bring them in with you. You can also bring pool noodles or other flotation devices. The creek is not very deep in some places so with a noodle you might drag your feet.

There are fish, snakes and every other local creature. The lifeguards in the summer watch for alligators and close the creek when one is spotted. This time of year, not too many people are in the water and it is not guarded.

Lots of fun when FL heat hits. Entry fee is low ( I think $3 or $5 dollars for up to 3 people in a car). Good way to spend a lazy day. Make note that the park often fills to capacity and will be closed to additional guests in the summer months and especially on the weekends. Get there before 11 if you can.
