The Spray Bottle has been filled. . .

I was trying not to have to use it, but the cats just won't stay out of the Christmas Tree!!!! They are much better than last year but I am tired of having to get up and try to chase them out. They tend to just try to climb higher.

Not sure how well it will work. One of them is so clueless she may not even realize I am spraying her and the other one LOVES water so it may encourage her.

Yeah good luck with that! Cheeto is driving me crazy this year with the tree - he's developed a new love for water so the spray bottle isn't working...and neither is me yelling into the tree "if you don't get out now I'm going to take you outside, put you in a real tree and LEAVE YOU THERE!"

The only thing I've found this year is sticking the hand held dyson into the tree and turning it on very close behind him - the only problem is this makes him jump out of the tree, and then all the pine needles around him fall off

Our 2 year old kitty LOVES the tree. Drives me insane. And we moved and I can't find the spray bottle so I have to go get a new one. My 11 year old take great joy in spraying her. I think he sends mind signals for her to go in the tree!

Hmmm, think I can use my spray bottle on my 10 month old son, too??

We can't spray our cat. She loves water. What works with her is my son's empty cap gun. The sound of it "snapping" scares her. We just pull the trigger (unloaded!) and she takes off. She even gets near the tree, we "shoot". Now she creeps towards it, looks around, and then makes a WIDE CIRCLE around it and leaves.

We wired ours to the door jam and crown molding for years with one cat. He's gone and our current kitty loves to sleep under the tree but doesn't climb it.

Well, we used to have two inside cats and one loved to sleep in our Christmas tree. She would climb most of the way up and made herself at home. It was the cutest thing ever. She wouldn't hurt anything so I left her alone. It was a little freaky to walk by the tree and see a cat face in it though.

Today is the first day my furbabies are home alone with the tree. I'm praying it's not on the floor with shattered ornaments when i get home...

ok, I may be jinxing this but: this is our cat's first Christmas with us. so far, he hasn't messed with the tree. He did enjoy rolling around a Disney Christmas ornament that we were about to put on the tree and broke it. Presents are under the tree and neither kitty or last year's gift taking pup have messed with the presents.

Now watch all heck break loose for me putting it out there

I haven't even put up the tree yet because of this reason! One of my cats is already eating the artificial garland I have on the fireplace mantle and then puking it up.

I am debating whether or not to get a real tree this year. Do cats eat the real or artificial more?

I guess lucky us, when we had our cat, he stayed out of the tree. Never showed any interest in it, other to lay on the floor and stare at the lights.

So far this year, with our new puppy, he hasn't messed with it either. We have very slowly put it up. We put the tree together and let it sit with just lights on it for 2 days. Lifted him up and let him give it a really good sniff. Let him sniff the orniments, as we put them on. Once done, again lifted him up and let him sniff them on the tree.

Just started putting wrapped gifts under it last night. Let him sniff each one as we wrapped. Nothing was destroyed this morning when we got up. I told DH the food gifts aren't going under the tree at all this year. Not pushing my luck.

We've got two six-month old kittens here. For the first week, I thought this was going to be a very long holiday season, chasing the cats away from the tree. Ever since I put a YC Balsam & Cedar ornament in the tree, they haven't gone near it.

I don't know if it's the scent or they just got bored with it, but whatever the reason, I couldn't be happier!

We have a kitten this year so we are going to get a small tree....lol DBF's parents have some random pine trees that blew into their landscaping (they live in the hills of Oakland with open space across the street) so they told us we could cut one down, we will see if they have one small enough and use that one. We plan to put it on a small table so Tigger can't climb it, hopefully this works.

Our cat eats both. She doesn't seem to prefer one or the other. We usually get a real one every other year. Every year I'm cleaning up after her puking it up. The spray bottle stops her for about 10 seconds. As soon as I set it down she is back.

I am never home for Christmas so I don't put up a tree, but if I did I would give it 5 mins before one of the cats was up in it. I put up garland on my fireplace and they were all over that.

Spray bottle never works with my cats. I tried it when one of them was always getting on the kitchen counter, she just looked at me like I was an idiot, which really isn't all the different from how she usually looks at me. The other will jump off that counter, run around like an moron and then 2 mins later would be back up on the counter.

We are lucky that Timmy doesn't usually try to climb the tree. He does like to lay under it though. And he doesn't like it if we have presents there so we don't put them out early. We do have to be careful of ornaments dangling from the lower branches - those become instant cat toys!

That's why I bought shatterproof ornaments. 3 years ago they knocked it over FOUR times! Then they took to batting those off the lower limbs and then whack them all over the living room. I'm gonna try again and hope that they're more mature and will do less of that...

Oddly enough, I have FOUR cats this year yet this is the first time I haven't had to worry about cats climbing the tree. My oldest cat, who is usually the biggest problem, is not taking an interest at all this year. The other three don't care either. They like to sleep under it, but not climb or play with it.

Of course, there's still a month to go so I'm crossing my fingers.
