I live in St. Louis, MO where Brown Recluse(sp?) spiders are so common they are called the Missouri Brown Spider. Plus I live in a new development and the spiders are out in force right now. My DH and I are both scared to death of spiders and we usually fight over who is going to kill them.

Tonight we were carving pumpkins and DH rolls his pumpkin over to discover the biggest brown spider you have ever seen. So we take it out to the garage and he pushes it off the pumpkin and I kill it - Amanda - 1/ Spiders- 0

After we were done carving we took pictures of our pumpkin and go to walk out the front door and there it is one of the biggest wolf spiders I have ever seen. You could tell it had hair and it was the size of a half dollar with body and legs. Augh...:scared: So DH and devise a plan. I'm going to go out the garage and sneak up on it and swat it with a shoe. He is going to stay in the house, behind the glass door and supervise. Not sure how he got so lucky. Anyway, so here I am sneaking around the house behind the spider (for all I know it could have been facing me) and I start to get the heebee geebees :scared1: so I what it really hard with my shoe well it stuck to the shoe when I drew it back and it came flying at me. I'm thinking it is still alive and let out the most blood curdeling scream ever. Think Jamie Lee Curtis in those horrors films back in the day. My DH is on the other side of the glass door holding his stomach from laughing:rotfl: because the spider is dead it was just stuck somehow. And let me just state this spider was big! And left a juice mark on my patio and shoe. YUCK! So after my horrific scream which I'm sure my neighbors really appreciated we headed back into the house.

Amanda - 2/Spiders - .5 for taking 3 years of my life away for scaring me to death.

I told DH that he has to get the next two spiders.

My family makes fun of me because I escort the spiders outside. I dont like to kill them. I actually dont like to kill anything except roaches, mosquitos and ants. Here in Texas we have way to many of each.

we kill mosquitos as well but I really can't stand spiders. There is no escorting them out of our house because they will just come right back in. I've thought about leaving their corpses around as a warning to all the other spiders but my DH said that was sadistic.;)

You poor thing... Yes, your DH owes you big time!!!! LOL
I also hate spiders.

*shudders* I hate spiders especially big ones. I always seem to be harassed by the same kind: huge and hairy. One crawled under my bedroom door looking like Thing from the Addams Family. And another was taking a shower with me. Both times I was so scared I couldn't move and actually started crying.
You're braver than me in that you can at least function and kill the ugly suckers.

People People. No squishing, no swatting here. And I am the biggest girlie girl about spiders.

Vaccuum the little suckers up! I've been known to vaccuum them up, and if they were really big ones, duct tape the end of the hose up until I was sure they expired, or DH arrived home to change the bag. (We have a bagless now, so it gets taped up more often and DH empties it).

Urghhhh

I don't know about vacuuming them up I own a bagless and then I could see the things running around inside of there. Augh!

We had a talk with our 3 cats last night about their job with the spiders. They just kept cocking there head to one side as if to say, "Do they taste like tuna?"

You should leave Wolf Spiders alive, they eat lots of other insects. Recluse spiders are very poisonous, so stay oway from them is good, squishing them is better, or sucking them up into the Hoover. We have both kinds here, I hate all bugs, spiders, etc. But I leave the wolf spiders alone, if they are in the house. I figure they will find there way out the same way they came in.

Recently, we have had baby gecko lizards coming in. They are really creepy looking. And way to fast to catch.
