Has anyone tried the Spa at SSR yet? Is there a list of the services that they offer any where here on the board that I can look at?

Thanks...

Hi Tom - thank you so much! That's exactly what I'm looking for. I may give it a try when we're there next month. I'll post my findings! :thumbsup2

I might add that both DW and DD had pedicures while DS and I rented boats one afternoon.

What do they do back there? The pedicure took 50 minutes. What's that ... 5 minutes per toe? :confused3

At any rate, they just loved it.

FWIW, I much prefer the spa at the GF to the one at SSR. SSR seemed less calming and more sterile. The services at both are great though!

Do members get a discount at the Saratoga Spa?

Thanks to all who have replied. This is our first trip to SSR and I'm really very excieted!!

:rotfl: I guess if you're never had a pedicure then that's a very valid question!! ;)

I'm counting the days till I'm at SSR...37 more to go as of today to be exact and then I'll definately try the Spa out.

lovespugs - Did you find the services better at the GF or just the atmosphere? BTW..I love pugs also. I have a black female.

I just prefer the atmosphere at the GF. The quality of service is about the same at both. The offerings are slightly different at each though, which you can see in their menu of services online. SSR seems to have more hydro therapies. I had one when I was there, and it was different but enjoyable.

I have a fawn male and female. They're the best! pug: pug:

As far as booking goes...
How far in advance can you book?
How far in advance do you need to book? Can I wait till I get there?

Myself, DD and DIL all had a message there last May for Mother's Day. It was very nice and we would all go back again. I think we all got a small discount there but I'm not positive.

I've been to both. Liked both. If you want to be a limp noodle try the hydromassage at 7:00 pm after a long day of walking. You may have to have someone carry you back to your room. Heaven!

My mom and I had one of those 50 minute pedicures in January. It was BY FAR the BEST pedicure I've ever had! We did receive a discount, but it was so good, that the discount didn't even matter. Can't wait to go back - I'm gonna get a massage and a pedicure this time.

On our trip in May my husband surprised me and booked a sweedish massage & foot reflexology session. Simply wonderful.

He booked just one day before & there was a DVC discount.

I think I'm spoiled now though....

Here's a link to the menu with prices for Saratoga Spa: http://www.mywdwtrip.com/Saratoga_Price_List.html

Here's some more info about the spa and booking details: http://www.mywdwtrip.com/Walt_Disney_World_Spas.html

Saratoga Spa is wonderful. I think it's better than the GF Spa - both spas are lovely but Saratoga Spa is huge, and they have a lot of modern equipment. The treatments are excellent, but do be aware that the therapists are trained to persuade you to have a lot of add on treatments. When I had a pedicure, they offered a foot wax, hand wax, and nail polish on my hands.

The extra treatments are wonderful, but can really push the cost up, so ask the price if you are offered any.

Now more than ever I can't wait!!!

A question for those of you who have gone to the SSR Spa ~ is there a deposit required at the time the reservation is made? I think I've made up my mind and I'm definately going to the Spa on this next trip!!! More than likely I'll try the SSR Spa. I've got to try one of those "famous pedicures" and a massage.

Thanks again for all the great information and for keeping this thread going! It's fun reading what everyone has to say while you're waiting to go! :wave2:

When you call to make your reservation, they will take your credit card but not charge it. There is a cancellation policy(not sure exactly so check when you reserve) that you must follow, if you cancel and do not follow the policy your card will be charged. Otherwise your card will be charged when you have your treatment. I have had several treatments at the SSR spa (and GF spa) and loved them all. I much prefer the facility at SSR to GF. Enjoy!!!

The cancel policy was 4 hours for regular treatments and a longer time than that for packages (I want to say 24 hours).

I've been thinking about doing mother and daughter pedicures while we're there, the more I read the more I want to!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Did some spa stuff at GF when I was pregnant with dd, by far the spa pedicure was actually better than a massage (massages just aren't as good as they normally are when you're 6 mths pregnant). They wrapped seaweed around my legs, it was quite a production, my feet and legs never felt so good!!

And DREAMFINDER2, you really made me laugh with that comment!! ...5 minutes a toe... :rotfl: :rotfl: ...maybe you should have one ;) ...many guys (even "manly" guys get them)...you don't know what your missing!!

I've not been, but in the "For What It's Worth Dept......"

Bob Sehlinger's "Unofficial Guide to WDW 2006" says in the SSR section:

"The fitness center is by far the best in WDW, and the spa was named one of the top five destination spas in North America and the Caribbean by readers of 'Conde Nast Traveler' magazine."

Not sure if that's hyperbole or not, but that seems like a pretty good recommendation.

Dreamfinder - I thought about you lastweek. We just returned from WDW and I went to the spa. I too had one of those 50 minute pedicures AND a 50 minute manicure!!! Heavenly is all I can say. But I see how you could wonder what on earth takes so long!!! Honestly...each little toe and finger are gently looked after! ;) And the foot and hand massage is just great. I highly recommend this service to anyone who just wants to have a little "me" time and if you're a DVC Member you do get a 20% discount. I can't wait till October when we go back for the Food and Wine Festival to see if I can sneak back in for another pedicure!!! :thumbsup2
