Ah the sounds of summer, birds chirping, kids playing, power tools.

I have these neighbors 2 doors down. They are nice enough people, not that really friendly, but not bad people. The keep there house lovely, however a price that DH and I (and other neighbors) are very tried of listening too. Power tools. Lots and lots of them, besides the lawn mover (a few times a week) they also use a leaf blower for a number of hours each week, weed whacker, power edger, power washer (as they are doing today) for hours on end. And not just the weekends, most evening too. They seem to have a great number of other noisy "toys" and while I appreciate living near neighbors who take good care of their house and lawn I am going out of my mind listening to this all day. I was chatting with my neighbor yesterday while we were both doing lawn work (with no power tools I might add.) and I asked if she was sick of it too. She said "you have no idea. That is one of the reason we put the house up for sale last year." (It didn't sell, but they were asking a lot for it.)

So does anyone else live in a neighborhood were the sounds of summer are constant lawn and power tools? Or is just me?????? I know everyone cuts their lawn once a week or so, maybe uses a edger or leaf blower, for an half an hour, but this is for hours and hours most days. :guilty:

Oh my God it just stopped. Silence! Oh wait, it started up again. :rolleyes1

I don't live in a neighborhood, but I have an idiot neighbor who LOVES to hammer and use his backhoe. I hate him. For a variety of reasons, I hate him. He built a stable - he got his daughter 2 horses to "keep her off drugs" and planted them 2 ft from my property line. He has 3 acres, yet he thought this would be a fantastic spot for the horses. It took him a year of hammering....a year of a nail gun...a year of him leaving his compressor on during the night until we finally called the cops....a year of BANG, BANG, BANG until this darn, stupid-looking thing was done. Every now and then, he goes out and hammers - 5 or 6 bangs - and I have no idea what in the heck is left to be hammered down. Then, there is the backhoe...my God, the backhoe. At least the horses are quiet. The best was the time he went out at 7am and tore down all of the trees on the property line (some of them were mine) and then proceeded to dump them on my side. I guess he thought I wanted a VIEW of his horses....he was wrong. I need a fence, but thanks to his stupid horses, I have to put a chain link up behind the vinyl because horses chew vinyl. My property line is over 400ft long.....I need a new driveway thanks to the floods (to the tume of nearly $10,000) and can't to do both right now. So, I got new windows in the bedroom....new, acoustic, sound-proof windows. Oh, bless the Harvey Window people who brought me these lovely things. He can hammer his own head to the ground and I can't hear it. :cheer2:

Ally&Jack, so they guy has 3 acres and he has to plant his horses as close to you as humanly possible. :thumbsup2 Got to love the smell of that. I guess the fact we have 50 foot wide yards isn't my only problem. We do have new windows, but on lovely days like today it is nice to open them, or even hang out in the back yard.

So I am the only one lucky enough to have a neighbor with a obsession with their power washer and leaf blower?

I used to work with a Freudian psychologist. I wonder what he would have to say about this women? Repression anyone? :lmao: If a cigar is symbolic, I wonder what a leaf blower would be????? :teeth: :rotfl:

We have a next-door neighbor that no one can figure out. He obsessively washes his cars, mows his lawn, and fixes whatever in his home happens to be broken all after midnight. And the thing is, he works where my dh does and they both leave at the same time--5:30 am! He also cannot drive away without getting in and out of his car and slamming the door at least six times (yes, we count)! He has a lot of bikes--he's a huge Lance Armstrong fan--but he only rides them in his driveway. He'll put on all this biking gear--pants, helmet, etc., and ride all his bikes in circles in the driveway, then go in the house and come back out in different clothes. He's got the sweetest wife in the world and two nice kids, but none of us can figure the guy out to save our lives!

Oh yes! We have one of those idiot neighbors who loves to stand around in the front yard with a power toy blaring while smoking a cigarette. He really thinks that a leaf blower will do a great job if you stay in one place. :lmao:

Do you live on the other side of my crazy neighbor. I guess I shouldn't complain. Her yard is her life, no kids. I have 2 beautiful, intelligent daughters. But she is constantly doing something to her yard, mowing, planting, weed whacking, whatever. Of course she gets furious if my girls sit on our screened porch and listen to the radio past 9pm but thinks nothing of her starting up her stuff at 7am and disturbing us.

luv, oh my! He sounds, well interesting. Love the riding the bikes in the drive way, maybe his mom doesn't let him drive in the street yet?????

lbgraves, a leaf blower and ciggerete, I love it (not). I hope it isn't a gas powered lawn tool!

Talking Hands, I don't mind the sound of kids playing at all, it is the constant buzz that gets to me. Of course the couple behind us with a hot tub party until 2:00 am did get to me. I had to close the windows and turn on the AC. I kept thinking they would get all pruny sooner or later and get out of the tub. No such luck. I went for a bike ride today and they were out gardening. All I could think was "so you are people who kept me up for 2 hours." (new neighbors over the winter.)
