The Sopranos final episodes (SPOILERS!!!)

I don't think Tony was killed. I think they were trying to show us how he lives his life everyday not knowing if the next person through the door will kill him. Right before AJ sat down Tony told Carmella that Carlos was testifying. They both looked at each other. They both knew that Tony was going to end up in jail. That is why they had to end it with a "remember the good" theme. I also think that the bell of the door jingling as the last sound you here is very "For whom the bells toll". It was the first thing I thought of. As far as the cat- I never thought of Adrianna but that makes sense. I was thinking more of a 9 lives thing. Also- who was that woman with Phil? I thought that was his daughter until he got squooshed and she called him Phil? Anyone know who she is? Oh- amd Meadow being a lawyer because of all the times she saw her Dad being taken by the FBI? I think she is going to work together with Agent Harris to get Dad off. Ugh! They need a movie. An epic! A book! Something!!!:headache:

At first I was let down. But then I was thinking, did I really want to see Tony get shot in the head , or worse did I really want to see the family get slaughtered? No. After thinking about it, I think it was a brilliant ending also, because so many things could have happened, those mentioned before or others----Tony's family sees him get killed, the whole family gets killed, Meadow watches her family get killed, --were those people really there to whack them or maybe they were not and nothing happened. And no music at the end--did the silence mean something--Tony's dead? THey placed so much importance on choosing the music for each episode--I think they even did an HBO special on it.

I agree, I was disappointed at first, but I think I would be disappointed in any ending, because it's the END. Chase left it up to us to finish off Tony Soprano however we needed to in our minds. Just like Tony never got closure from therapy, we aren't going to get closure with Tony. And the show has been our journey with Tony. And as someone mentioned before, usually the second to last episode of the season is the one with all the action. And many seasons have ended with the family just being together...I believe last year was at Christmastime and another season was at Artie's restaurant...

Adriana was the cat...I said it as soon as she was looking at Christopher's picture....that was cool... and we got to say goodbye to most of the characters, even Junior.

The suspense in the final scene was killing me...I was like, Meadow, don't you have the Lexus that parks itself!!!!???

OK. now I hadn't thought of it at all, from that angle... but, that makes some sense. I was thinking that the cat was more like Christopher, because he was annoying Paulie so much. Then, I even thought it might be a refernence to Big *****, in some way. I also saw the symbolism with Adrianna. Maybe it's a combination of them all.

I haven't read all the posts here, there are too many, but my interpretation is that the ending was left completely open to interpretation by the viewer. I think the stuff about how you don't hear the shot coming and everything just goes black is relevent, but it wasn't Tony who was wacked. It was the viewer.

Everyone knew this was the final episode and everyone was waiting for the big ending, but when it came, you never knew it. You didn't hear the bang; everything just went black...

Saying Tony got killed is too simple because there's no way to prove it. Chase focused on all those random people in the diner because he wanted everyone to get on edge and think something big was going to happen, but when the end came, no one saw it coming.

I really like this interpretation the best - we never saw the end coming. Still not thrilled with it, though. I like having a definite ending spelled out for me - it's much more satisfying!

I really want to see the other 2 "alternate endings". Maybe I can use one of them to get my closure :rotfl:

Can someone remind me who Carlos was? A few of us here at work cant figure that out...

I thought the ending was horrible and a cop out because they're planning on doing a movie.
And I've seen every episode of the Sopranos and understand David Chase's "subtlety"

I loved it.

My favorite part was when the FBI agent got all excited and said "we're gonna win this thing!" (I think that's what he said). That was hilarious.

I think it might be the only way I'll get any closure! I'm still feeling ripped off this morning. The symbolism is intriguing, but gives me no satisfaction at all.

Oh, and I'm surprised nobody mentioned the chick form Saturday Night Fever being Patsy's wife! :rotfl:

Unless they are as lame as the one used.

I wanted an ending. This was no ending. I wanted closure. This provided me with a lot to think about and a lot to guess. That's not what I wanted. Heck, Seinfeld's ending was better compared to this one.

Blondie,

I mentioned that to my DH last night. When I saw her I said "is that the chick from Saturday Night Fever?"

Did anyone else laugh when Paulie sat down at the funeral lunch thing and unzipped his pants? Only Paulie.

Totally agree. Let's all MOO at the cash cow treatment we received last night from Chase and HBO.

Was all those Tony "doing it" scenes thru the years symbolistic too???? YUK!

The only thing Chase did was put a HIT on the Audience!:scared:

According to this long article on Eonline (http://www.eonline.com/news/article/index.jsp?uuid=7d08073a-4832-4253-b5c6-d396bbe153c5) Tony Soprano didn't die.

The Sopranos Neither at Rest nor Peace

"Even Journey didn't make it all the way to the credits, which uncharacteristically rolled by silently after a completely abrupt fade-to-black as Tony looked up, ostensibly to see Meadow coming in. The point is, he'll spend the rest of his life—however long or abbreviated—glancing up to see who's walking through the door, and with what intention.

But that's how The Sopranos creator and executive producer David Chase envisioned the ending to one of the most smartly written, well-acted and layered TV series in history. So that's what we got."

Very lame to me - and gives more credence to all of the movie rumors.

I agree! Hopefully when the 2nd half of the season comes out on DVD, it has them on there.

There was an article in our paper that the guy that went into the bathroom is an owner of a local pizza shop in our area! :)

:lmao:

Exactly...reminds me of books with different endings I read as a kid....

If Tony hears the bang turn to pg 57....

If meadow walks in turn to page 88....

If the guy comes outta the bathroom turn to page 68...:rotfl2:
