The "Solo is a Verb" WDW TR: Who knew DIVAS could represent like this...6/7 UPDATE!

Hi LaLa!

you are an amazing woman, between being a single mom, throwing away all that weight, and making solo trips to the World! Truly an inspiration! By the way, you do a wicked trip report as well...you sure its your first time? :thumbsup2

so tell me, where is this Villains exhibit of which you speak?? we will be down in August and I don't want to miss this...can't believe I've missed it, but I haven't been down since Oct. '08.

p.s. this will be our first stay as DVC members, much like you, we waited more than 10 years to make the plunge, congrats!! :cool1:

I love reading your report and seeing your photos! I did a solo trip last year and love reading others experiences. Thanks for sharing :goodvibes

Thanks so much. I am still kicking myself over all the photos I didn't get, and all the junk photos I did.. but I tried. Aren't solo trips the best? It definitely will help me be more relaxed now when I go with others and not get so frustrated over what I didn't get to do. Also, congrats on your first baby coming soon! Thats a whole other trip report, in itself. :)

You are hilarious. I am enjoying your TR. Congrats on becoming a DVC member, I am sure your daughter will thank you :D

Who me?? Hilarious? Oh thanks! I think my daughter is the reason I got the DVC. When she's old enough she can leave me to my solo trips with my walker still trying to get on RnR and she can come down when she wants with her own friends and family. Let's pray that I last the next 5 years of payments! Oy!

Thanks so much yankeemouse... I always tell people, what I do is like Disney Magic...I try not let anyone see the behind the scenes chaos that ensues in my life - just the end result. It's hard as hell, but totally worth the rewards. I don't get to play too often, but when I do.. I play hard.

Yes, yes... first TR. I got two PMs about this also. Honestly, I give credit to the many trip reports that I've read on here. I guess I learned from the best :)

The Villans! exhibit is located in the AFI building. Easily you can get to it if you do the Backlot Tour. It is the last stop. If you do not do the backlot tour, it is just at the end of the Streets of America area, across from the Stunts Show. (Probably explaining that all wrong...LOL). It's a really short exhibit, but has some of my faves in there, so I loved it.

I can't wait to book my first trip with DVC. Technically, I dont close until the end of the month, but I am looking forward to doing another quick solo trip in September, then bringing the baby down in December for her birthday again. Congrats to you too!! Maybe I will catch you at one of the Wednesday DVC get-togethers down there!

ok you know I had to end up here...and you know I'm sitting here re-living some of your TR. I can't wait to see what you write about our days together...and just so you know I had a total blast with you and krice. I know we're gonna have to plan NE Diva weekend next year...Orlando won't know what hit'em!!

Just stumbled upon this TR and I'm loving it!

That is so amazing you got to experience that Disney "magic" with your Dad.

Your pictures are beautiful! I can't wait to read more.

Great update!! :thumbsup2 I'm loving your TR! It sounds so nice to experience Disney that way!

Yay for DVC membership!! :goodvibes

Congrats on the DVC membership!! My DH and I have been toying with a membership for years as well....I have never taken the tour as I know we will walk out DVC members!! Not that it wouldn't a be a good thing.....just too much $$ for us right now :headache:

Great day at DHS!! I like how your pic of Piglet!! it came out cute

Enjoying your TR. Great pictures. Those onion rings do look good.

I'll be doing a solo in the near future and staying on site. Is it easier to get around with a rental car than depending on Disney transport?

Hey mamacita! Girl, you know I will leave out the fun stuff (what stays in Vegas...LOL) but you ladies really made my week. I hope this turns into an annual event.

Yay for DVC! That's soooo exciting! What resort did you buy into?

My choices were Aulani, SSR, or AKL - Aulani was fabulous and I hope to get to go next year, but since that trip really would just be a once or twice in a lifetime thing for us, I went with AKL.

Thanks so much. Yeah, I think Im having some buyer's remorse right now myself, now that the hangover has worn off, but Im going to do my best to stick it out. :headache:

The onion rings were so oohey, gooey good!

As far as a rental car, I actually wish I had saved the money and just toughed out the public transpo and ate all my meals on site, but if you really like the freedom and convenience, I would go with a rental, especially if you plan to do some resort-hopping, spa days, things that are not really on the bus/monorail paths. I saved a lot of money buying the breakfast foods, and also stepped offsite a couple of times for lunch ($5 footlongs saved the day), so I probably evened out, if anything.

Joining in...congrats on your DVC membership. How exciting!!! :thumbsup2

Welcome :tinker: Glad you are here! :yay:

Joining in, I'm loving your TR so far! :woohoo: I'd love to do a solo Disney trip someday, but I'm not sure if I'm brave enough, but you're making it sound like so much fun!

Congrats on your DVC! :dance3:

Totally agree with this! Did my first solo trip last November - as LaLa said, felt awkward for the first hour, and then never thought about it after that. I met so many people - on buses, in line for the rides - people would really open up and talk. I loved the freedom it offered - of being able to do what I wanted to do, when I wanted to do it - and not having to worry about if my family was having fun!

LaLa - love the DHS report - and now, 13,000+ steps??!!:scared1::scared1:

I bought a pedometer the other day - you've inspired me to put it on and get back to counting my steps!

Honey, when I tell you I scared out of my mind, believe it. That is part of the reason why I scheduled so many activities because I was worried about feeling awkward, out of place, lonely, or whatever. But I really felt great, I had a smile on my face the whole week, did a LOT of walking, exploring, and met a lot of great people. I wouldn't do a solo trip very often, but I would suggest it at least once for anyone who loves Disney as much as I do.

Yay for you! I had gotten my pedometer as part of a "Biggest Loser" challenge we did at my job a few months ago. Unfortunately I lost it at Epcot and bought another one at my gym, so my next update will be the last one with my pedometer reading. :sad2: I was really bummed too because I wanted to track my steps for the Keys to the Kingdom tour, and the Wild Africa Trek. I think the 13,000+ steps from that was because I took at that extra walk from Kidani to Jambo to get dinner. The CM I asked made it seem like it was thisclose to Kidani...LOL. Man, I felt like I was walking forever. LOL

Day 3 (EPCOT, Divas, and ‘Ritas… oh my!)

Part I

I had a tough time starting my day today. It was my goal to get to Epcot in time for rope drop and run as fast as my cankles could carry me to a few rides before my 11:15am tour. Hence, at 38 years old and 2 days of full force Disney behind me, the Universe told me differently.

First, I enjoyed another lovely breakfast at Chez Lala’s. Don’t think you can get this gourmet breakfast just anywhere. I’m a personal friend and they hooked me up. :rotfl:

So now that I was fully awake and ready to go, Kia and I headed over to Epcot at around 9:30am to enjoy my day. As I entered the park, I was immediately surrounded by all of the lovely flowers and topiaries presented for The International Flower and Garden Festival. I immediately began snapping pictures of my favorite characters in bloom. Here are just a few in the entrance way:

I walked around for a few minutes, and walked over to get my FP for Soarin’. Wow... 12:55pm-1:55pm. The standby wait was already at 60 minutes. I didn’t want to take a chance since I was meeting one of the lovely Disdivas, NJDiva, at 10am. So, as I walked over to the Coke station to meet her and a few minutes before our meet time, I saw my favorite characters of Winnie the Pooh in bloom! I had to get some pics:

Finally, its time to meet NJDiva… OMG, we were wearing the same colors! Haha, I wish he had gotten a picture, but we hugged like old friends and began to talk and walk around. It’s funny, I think this was my first multi-sentenced adult conversation I had since I had arrived at WDW. It was strange at first, but immediately began running my mouth as always. She is a great photographer and we walked through the Pixie Hallow and Bambi’s butterfly garden to take more pics. I was really enjoying learning about her. She had me cracking up, too.

After hanging out with NJDIva for a little over an hour, we said our “see you laters” and I headed over to The Land, for my “Behind the Seeds” Tour…
