When I last left you, us lazy travelers were napping. And thank goodness we did because we ended up being out late.
Now, I need to share a little back story with you for the next part. When I lived in Ireland, I had a boyfriend over there. (well to be completely accurate, I ended up having a "fiance" over here but that's a whole other story for a whole other day...let's just chalk that up to me being very young and stupid at the time

)
So, I shared a flat with 2 girls who went to college with me in the states. I didn't now them beforehand but we all got along really well and it worked out great. One day, one of them brought home a co-worker from her job site for dinner. He was really nice, about 7 years older than us, and frankly was awesome to listen to

Well, naive little Kristine didn't really catch on that he started coming over a LOT...until one night he asked me out. I was still so clueless, I tried inviting my roommates to come with me
Long story short, I ended up dating him while I was there, he proposed when I left, he took a leave for the summer and came here, and by the time I returned to college for my Sr Year I quickly realized that what I was more in love with was the romantic notion of it all.
BUT, while we were there, it was fabulous to have him around. And his family really adopted myself and my roommates. They had us over for all the holidays so we wouldn't be homesick, made us dinner, took care of us when we were sick...you get the point. Well, needless to say, I became very good friends with them too- particularly his sister Anne and her family. The kids still call me Auntie although I broke up with their uncle 13 years ago!!!! As I've mentioned, I've been back to visit several times and they are always so welcoming. Even when Randy visited....thought it might be awkward but nope, not at all! Randy loves them.
OK this story is getting insanely long, I'm sorry. Anyway, back in 2007, I got a frantic call from Anne at work. Now the only time Anne has every called me at work was on 9/11 to make sure we were ok. So I knew something was wrong. Turns out that her brother, my ex, had died (accident). Of course I immediately tried to make arrangements to fly over there for the services but given that a last minute airfare to Dublin is like $1500, they wouldn't hear of it. They actually wrote down the Eulogy and emailed it to me so I could hear it.
So flash forward to this trip, we went over Anne's house for a visit with the kids. It was really funny, when I pulled up her oldest son was outside (he's in college now) and yelled "Mam, Auntie Kristine is here" like it was totally normal for me to walk up their driveway on a Friday evening
Anyway, we visited for quite awhile and then headed out to the coast for an adult only dinner. We went to this fabulous restaurant in Malahide called Oscar Taylors. It was one of those restaurants that purposely has really slow service so you can sit and gab for hours. After dinner, we took a ride further up the coast and Anne ended up taking me to the Cemetary so I could say a proper goodbye. God love Randy for having no issue with this at all.
All in all it was a great evening. By the time we got back to the hotel it was well after midnight and we had to get up in a few hours for our tour!!
Well that was a horribly boring update! But in the next update, there will be pictures....and we will get ROBBED
