The Smithereens

Ok, I admit that we're a little behind on the Podcast. Driving home, we listened to the segment about the Velvet Sessions show with The Smithereens. We were shocked, I say shocked, that no one was familiar with the pride of Scotch Plains, NJ. The band, with 3 of 4 original members, recently released a new CD and is touring to support it. We are going to see the band in concert on Saturday.

Say what you will, The Smithereens is also the only band fronted by someone (Pat DiNizio) who I voted for when he was running for Governor of NJ.

Give them a listen, you might like it.

The Smithereens!

I own not one, but two Smithereen CDs ( 11 and Blow Up), and I am willing to loan them to anyone on the podcast crew that wants to listen. It's great music from the late eighties and early nineties.

I wish I was in the area so I could see them.

We went to the show on Saturday. It was loud. It was rock and roll. It was great. The band played their classics and some new material.

The opening act was Sarah Borges and the Broken Singles. We've seen them a number of times and are highly recommended. All and all, it was a great night for music.
