Every once in a while, I let my mind wander back to our stays at the Polynesian Resort. The one thing that always comes to mind is that unique (but wonderful) smell we always notice when we walk into the lobby. Anyone else notice it? I wish I was there right now...

Absolutely!

I make a point of going into the lobby every night for a drink just to soak it up.

I know what you mean. Even when we're not staying at the Poly, DW and I go there at least several evenings for Pina Coladas at the Tambu Lounge. Sometimes we take them outside and watch the EWP or Wishes from the beach. :thumbsup2

Yes!! There are certain smells at WDW that every once in a while I catch a wife of in everyday life and I instantly transported back to a magical memory! :lovestruc

There are so many different smells at WDW. Here are some of my faves:

-Poly lobby (as mentioned)
-Walkway at Wilderness Lodge between Artist Point and Roaring Fork
-Main Street Confectionery
-Grand Floridian lobby
-Mexico pavilion at Epcot
-Monorail (that's a weird one)
-Lobby of All Star Movies (another weird one)
-Smell around and in Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain
-Unloading gift shop area of Maelstrom. I bought my wife some of the perfume they sell there. We both win!

Haha, I thought this was going to be a complaint thread. When we stayed at the Poly in 2004, my mother HATED the smell of the lobby! She said it smelled like Captain Cook's needed a better ventilation system for their cooking oil. :lmao:

If you are refering to the main building I believe that the major smell is the frangipani in the center planter.

Two smells I love at Disney: the smell of the Poly lobby and the smell of the Beach Club. I did manage to get some candle tarts that smell just like the Beach Club -- takes me right back. I'd love to find a similar candle/home fragrance to Poly's.

Now, imagine my surprise when walking into the Grand Floridian lobby for the first time this past trip, to be greeted by the overwhelming odor of "old folks home." I thought I was losing my already deficient mind when my husband asked, "What smells so bad in here?" The soap store on the second floor makes up for it though.

Captain Cook's reeks. I agree with your mother. Always smells like they're burning something in there.

It literally consumes a large portion of my thoughts each and every day.....and I wish I was there almost every second of the day.....It's addicting!!! Like, it's my vice, (that and shopping), and I can't stop thinking of it....Thank goodness I'm not the only one.....:lovestruc

When I go through the doors on my way to check in at the Poly, that smell hits me and tells me "I'm Home"! I wish I could put some in a bottle and bring it back to Indiana.

I will be smelling the lobby at the Polynesian on Sunday...checking in for 5 nights. Can't wait!

I start waiting for that lovely smell as I walk up the entrance and through the doors. I always smile as soon as it hits me :goodvibes

Those are my favorites too. One of my favorite things at Disney is walking into the lobby and smelling that wonderful air :cloud9:. Just out of curiosity....where did you find the candle tarts that smell like the Beach Club? and what exactly is the name of the scent? I would love to have a couple laying around here to remind us of our favorite resort in Disney :goodvibes

Wow- I'm glad I've got lots of company. Going to have to plan another trip soon!
:goodvibes

OOH I LOVE the smells in WDW...:goodvibes
I have never stayed at the poly...but I know that smell:lovestruc
I also like the smell of MCO airport... Not that its a great smell..but its a smell that brings me closer to WDW:rotfl:

I ordered mine from an Etsy merchant. Though you can get the scent from Bath & Body Works -- it's called Green Clover & Aloe. It smells just like the lobby. I love it. :lovestruc
