The Sky is: "(fill in the blank)"

I could have used a shot yesterday. My company has layoffs. Thankfully I'm still here, but I still hate to see it happen. This is the third major layoff in 20 years that I've been through, and each time it's depressing.

Someone is giving out shots and I almost missed it???? :scared1:

Why is it that you showed up right after alcohol was mentioned? Coincidence? I think not.

My current favorite shot is a Washington Apple. But my favorite drink right now is a French martini. I really like that my son is a bartender....

This can't end well.

Vodka or Gin?

Sorry, has to be a vodka martini. Gin is too much like nail polish remover for me to consume.

PKsMom, sorry about the layoffs. Didn't want you to think that my frivolous Cinco de Mayo posts meant that I was ignoring what you are dealing with.

OK, a little funny here. I live in an area with a LARGE (to put it mildly) Hispanic population. My husband, has lived here his entire 55 years. Cinco de Mayo celebrations are a huge thing here. A few years ago he came home all excited to tell me about this amazing revelation he had.

Are you ready?

Cindo de Mayo is always on the 5th of May.

He hates when I tell this story now.

Back to the Cinco de Mayo fiesta here...

Always the 5th of May..... isn't that amazing :lmao:

Sorry about the layoffs PKsMom. I'm sure that must be difficult.

Sorry, I posted without reading back. My company went thru that two years ago; I've been "retired" for two years ;)

I thought you were supposed to be too drunk to remember who gets the worm, or is it too drunk to remember that you got the worm?:rotfl: I forget!!

We did have a Cinco de Mayo dinner last night, fajitas, spanish rice, and refried beans. DD4 LOVES refried beans, its a weird bean obsession. She also loves Mexico. When she was 3, she packed her plastic Elmo purse full of plastic ponies and said it was her suitcase. She was taking a trip to a beach in Mexico. As you know, the only thing you need at a beach in Mexico is a purse full of ponies.:rotfl:

Oh, and the sky is cloudy with a little bit of peek a boo blue

Morning all and happy seis de mayo. I'm a little under the weather today and NO it's not from a cinco party. Just terrible allergies.

Judi, that's a total bummer about you and Mr Judi. Sometimes I forget that you guys live in the state with the extremely healthy economy. Too bad they didn't pay people to dis; you'd be a millionaire now.

Smiley; what's up with the pepsi? Don't you know coke tastes so much better?

:surfweb: another rainy, cloudy, foggy miserable day. I know my blue sky is up there somewhere, but I can't see it and I miss it :sad2::sad2:

Allergies are kicking my butt, literally. I feel like a train ran over me.

Oh well, I better shut up, I'm Ms. Doom and Gloom today.

We cancelled our trip to Disney because our kitchen floor was supposed to be installed this week. We waited a month for the installer to recover from appendictis; then when he was supposed to start the job he got a hernia and ended up back in the hospital. I feel sorry for him, but at the same time my wood has been sitting in the store for the past five weeks. Now we are trying to find another installer and the store won't return my phone calls

:hug:hugs & kisses:love2: to you all! Remember its Wednesday, only 2 more days till the weekend! :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear about your involuntary retirement. :grouphug:

I can't imagine losing both incomes within 4 months of each other. :flower3: Sounds like you and Piney were prepared for a rainy day though. I've neglected to ever mention that I'm one of those bad people that has caused the economy to tank -- always living way beyond my means. It's a terrible situation and I'm truly grateful to still have a job, and I didn't mean for anyone to feel sorry for me -- I'm the lucky one.

Having opened myself up to a flogging for my economic situation, I too have a trip to Disney planned for August/September  and I can't imagine cancelling it for anything. I've used all my bonus money to pay for it, and then whatever I've been able to save besides. Yes, I could have done the adult/responsible thing like pay off more bills, but at this point I feel like I'd never get them paid off anyway. I do, however, have plenty of life insurance for just that specific task. I also don't want to strap my family with my problems, so I've taken out more than enough insurance.

Oh don't feel sorry for us regarding Disney! We were just there in December. For a couple with no children we have been there ALOT! Probably over 30 times in the past 15 years.

Actually it was a mental thing for me. I get stressed VERY easily and we have so much going on right now I couldn't face packing and going away (crazy, I know). We'll probably go back in September, we got a bounce back rate the last time we were there.

Can you believe I went out for 15 minutes and missed the floor store calling? I tried calling her back and got voicemail :headache:

Sorry to anyone who is struggling with a job loss. I was there for 32 years and I was 50 at the time so I was able to qualify for an early retirement. It could have been much worse. :)
