The size of the handheld device

I am meeting my DD at WDW for a little Mother/daughter R&R.

I have a question for those in the know. She is deaf and really wants to try the handheld captioning device. The last time she went was years ago and the CMs would give her a paper script for the different shows etc. We were just wondering the size of these devices and weight? Do they have a lanyard for around neck or wrist? Should we take a fannypack or other bag to keep it in when not in use?

Any tips or ideas for easy use of the device is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks Sue

The picture we found was completely different thing than the link you provided us. The one we found was red and was hard to tell what size it was with nothing else to compare it too.

My daughter has been to Disney several times but that was before all the technology could catch up to ADA. This time she is really looking forward to enjoying and understanding the rides. I can just imagine what stories she came up with for Spaceship Earth in her mind to go along with the scenes she was seeing. A paper script is hard to follow especially in dark rides and movies.

Will give her review of the device when we return in a couple of weeks. I will try and remember to take a photo of the device with something to get a better perspective on the size.

Thanks again!

I can't wait to hear your review and see your pictures.

The red picture is the older device.

The device is about the size of a 5x7 file card and a few inches thick. The older ones were heavy but I believe that the newer one are lighter. Make sure it is working before leaving guest services as it can be a long walk back if it isn't. CMs are not always aware of how they work so if the CM seems perplexed ask for a lead who knows the equipment.

Thanks Talking Hands!! Good suggestions to make sure it works before leave the area. I would hate to get across the park to exchange a dud for a working one.

Will still have my daughter give me her feedback on the caption part. And take a couple of photos of the device for others to see it.

Seven days and counting. Doin' the dance  :woohoo:
