The Simpsons are coming!

Excited, but only so-so. I love the idea of Simpsons--we are a Simpsons loving family. But I agree with what many of you have said. Why spend the time & money if the ride is going to be pretty much what it was, with a new movie on the screen? We loved BTTF. I especially loved the herky-jerkiness of it. Tame rides are for 4 year olds, lol. This "tameness" makes me think of the Jimmy Neutron ride but with better humor.

why?

because there's lots of baby boomers who take their tweens/teens/grandchildren to the parks and want to ride too (despite our blown out backs;) ).

plenty of other herky-jerky rides for you young whipper-snappers.:)

new ride = new audience = more revenue? the die hards will still come back.

Other countries think that Homer Simpson is America. A 2003 on-line BCC poll declared Homer "The Greatest American" with Abraham Lincoln as No. 2.

Now I know why China had to ban The Simpsons! Homer taking over must have worried them. :rotfl:

I'm not saying there isn't room for tamer rides. I just don't want to lose the ones that aren't! As far as whipper-snappers, that isn't really me as I will be 38 this year.

Like I said, we love the Simpsons--we TiVo the show every Sunday & my son, who is nearly 10, has a few of the seasons DVD collections. DH has Duff Beer PJs!

I just wish the ride were going to be something new and exciting. I'd love to see some new technology. I am sure it will be fun, but...

I saw the first Universal Studios commercial for the new ride yesterday. I wasn't paying much attention to it until I noticed that the Simpsons were standing by the Arch into Universal - then I jerked to attention.

Boy - the Universal boards are better than the National Enquirer. Folks - you heard about it here first :teeth:

i have been waiting to see the commercial.......i am jealous.....

what network channel did you see it on?

I love the Simpsons and am happy to hear there will be a Simpsons ride, but please, let it be tame enough for those of us who can't ride thrill rides.

DH and I cannot ride BTTF (or the old Body Wars at Epcot, Star Wars at MGM) or similar simulator rides -- they give us whiplash and make us sick. We also hated the jerkiness of Dinosaur at AK.

We finally got up our nerve to try Spiderman a few weeks ago for the first time because we'd heard so much about it. It was awesome, but it was the absolute limit for us for roughness, and it came close to being too much, but we appreciated the technology. Had it been 1% rougher, we would probably not be willing to ride again!

It seems every new attraction added these days has to jerk or spin you around, and we hope there will come some new attractions that only rely on creativeness and technology to create an enjoyable experience.

like she said:thumbsup2

The ONLY ride that bothers me for some reason is Jimmy Neutron. I know that I was kind of green when I got off that thing. I hope that The Simpsons isn't like that.

Either way, I am looking forward to all of it. Personally I'd like something with Marge on it and I love Apu. I hope that they have really good souvenirs.

i was reading a different board and don't know if i can name it here.
don't know if i would get a warning if it turned out to be filtered.

this is what i read but i don't know if it is valid. lots of boards say things so i'm just throwing this out there for your discussion or is you know more about the article.

News received from an attendee at the "Behind Closed Doors" at the Orlando
Tourist Board Meeting, held on Tuesday, April 24.: Apparently, Universal
Studios have admitted that the New Simpsons Ride will be a very cheap re-fit of
the Back to the Future Ride, incorporating existing fittings, especially the
cars. The overhaul and relaunch of the ride is to be as cheap as possible due to
NBC's Minimal Spend approach.

NBC! Humph.

I'm not taking anything said too seriously yet. I'll wait and see the actual project in its completion and judge it then. :)

The Simpsons at Universal: Don't get too excited just yet!

By Gareth H: News I received from an attendee at the "Behind Closed Doors" at the Orlando Tourist Board Meeting, held at the Orange County Convention Center, on Tuesday, April 24th.:

Aparrently, Universal Studios have admitted that the New Simpsons Ride will be a very cheap re-fit of the Back to the Future Ride, incorporating existing fittings, especially the cars.

This would be similar to the Jimmy Neutron Ride, which replaced Hanna Barbera a few years back!

This ride looks pretty cool. I can't wait to ride it. I will miss BTTF though.

I hear that this ride is opening in spring 2008. Has anyone heard about possible soft openings earlier? We'll be there in early February, which is probably too early, but I thought I'd make sure. It would be great to check out this new attraction.

there's a blurb out for the AP holders about the simpson ride and being one of the first to go on it.

i submitted my entry already
