The Side effects of the AP-Trip#6 Oct 10 Final thoughts and some TMI

At 10:30 I was standing in line at EE and decided it was too crowded to stay any longer. But I also had other plans. Special plans, big plans, never done before plans. I made my way back to POP.

But do I stay there?
You wouldn’t think I would go back to the room now, and just stay there would you? I pick up my cheesecake and get fresh batteries and I head to DHS. The cheesecake made have had to wait in the fridge for later.

Still no Bo, but he will always now mark my entry into DHS- Time 12:07.

IMG_5531.jpg

I soak up some of the Streetmosphere performances.

IMG_5533.jpg

These guys had a little tossing station set up.

I love those badges.

He was getting frustrated

IMG_5542.jpg

As was this guy.

IMG_5545.jpg

The director was frustrated too.

IMG_5546.jpg

So much so he threw his megaphone.

IMG_5549.jpg

When this girl walked through. She was not sorry.

IMG_5547.jpg

While the cop was trying to block the way.

IMG_5550.jpg

IMG_5551.jpg

They were trying to get this crew

IMG_5552.jpg

To pose. It quickly went downhill.

IMG_5554.jpg

But they finally got a finished product.
As always, it was pee-in –your-pants funny and I enjoyed stopping and watching.

It was time for my other plans. I had made a date for lunch.

IMG_5559.jpg

So it was finally time.

A certain salad was calling my name.

I love the DHS streetmosphere people! They really add a lot of magic to DHS.

Let's see, at the Brown Derby are you going to have....corn on the cob?

Love the performers at the Studios. They truly keep you laughing. Great photos.

I was really able to to stop and take in all the magic. One of the best things about being alone, I could stop and watch for as long as I wanted.

Aren't we on a roll...

I recognize all those folks! And you're right... they are just that funny! Great shots, Pat. Each one really captures their character just perfectly!:thumbsup2

Ah streemosphere. Nothing like it to pull one out of a funk and make you smile.

 Brown Derby!

Along with it being fun to watch the Streetmosphere characters, it is also fun to watch the spectators as they watch the Streetmosphere characters. :goodvibes Especially those who look like this could be their first time to see any of it. Some of them have some pretty funny expressions.

That director has been around a long time. I wonder how many years he has been doing this. Someone should interview him for a DIS trip report. :)

FreezinRafiki has a couple of GREAT reports on this director. HERE (Some at the top, but mostly at the end of the post.) And a follow-up HERE

:love:Love Streetmosphere! They are hilarious and well worth the time to sit back and watch.

:cool1:Yay, you went to Brown Derby. I have never eaten there before but would love to. Can't wait to read your review.

It was fun to take the time to just enjoy them. Otto von BonnBonn and the cop were funny. Throwing the megaphone and yelling. They all love what they do and it shows. :goodvibes

Glennbo mentions Freezin Rafiki has some good experiences with Otto.
His DD has a crush on him. :goodvibes

ETA: yes that is the best story Glenn.

It is great when I am alone and watch to my hearts content and not feeling like I have someone rushing me along itching to get to a ride.

Here I was, I have arrived!!! I just had to try this Cobb salad everyone was talking about.

As I wait I look around.

IMG_5568.jpg

Here comes my waiter

IMG_5569.jpg

The lights

IMG_5570.jpg

IMG_5571.jpg

IMG_5572.jpg

I order a drink. NOT an apricot sour. ;) Of course I cannot find the drink menu anywhere on line.
It has “Audition “ in the title. It was yummy.

IMG_5574.jpg

I order the Cobb Salad. The waiter asks if I want or need any substitutions. I am usually a picky eater and I have found that is because I have food allergies and even before I knew I had them ( they are relatively minor, not life threatening issues…yet) I guess I would feel odd after eating and then not like that particular food since I would associate the bad feeling with the food.

I had looked over what was in the salad and while I did not like every ingredient per say I would be adventurous and try it the way it was made.
My salad was presented neatly, everything in rows on top of the greens. My waiter asked if I wanted him to mix it and I say yes.
Here is the salad mixed. It looked so pretty unmixed, now it looks like a mess.

IMG_5575.jpg

Just as Liesa commented when she had her Cobb salad, it was much too much for me. I made a good dent in it.

IMG_5576.jpg

I was too full for dessert so I paid the bill. The waiter was great and he even gave me the recipe of the salad and the grapefruit cake which I was sure he thought I was going to order. I think I surprised him when I told him I would not be ordering dessert.

I told him to leave the salad while he brought me the bill and processed the payment. I attempted a few more bites but I was full and my mouth so satisfied it tingled. Oh wait, that’s more than a tingle. :scared1:
Uh Oh.

I pay the bill and visit the rest room. To use the mirror more than anything.

IMG_5578.jpg

You get a hidden Poolrat in this one.

IMG_5580.jpg

Well my lip is indeed swelling. No bueno.

IMG_5581.jpg

It looks like someone punched me in the lip. It is not bad, but bad enough to take a Benadryl.

Too bad I had none on me. :scared1::scared1:

That’s Ok, First Aid is close by, surely they can help.

I had mentioned some time back that I was either told or read that every First Aid station had red in front of it. AK has red ladybugs, EPCOT had red flowers, MK has red umbrellas and DHs has a barber pole.

Where you say? In the truck of course.

IMG_5582.jpg

I will agree it is not very well marked that way but it is there nonetheless.
I proceed to walk down the path to the First Aid station.
I pass these guys but don’t stop long enough to meet and greet, I have business to attend to.

IMG_5583.jpg

I tell Stitch not to harass Piglet and I go in. Kind of a strange como of characters but whatever.

IMG_5584.jpg

I get some Benadryl pretty easily and I leave. The lady behind the counter was nice. I just had to sign in and she handed me a pill and a couple of more in case I needed them later.

Don’t pay those high resort prices, just go to first aid.

*******************************************************
Now when I visit the allergist next I mention the incident and ask for more food testing. I knew about the tomatoes already, that's why there are so many left on the plate. I noticed the dressing had English Mustard in it. Now let me tell you, I dislike mustard, all mustard and pickles. If someone broke a pickle jar and spilled mustard int he grocery store at the same time, i would have to leave.:lmao:
To my knowledge I have never really eaten it on purpose but I dislike the smell, the look etc. I ask the allergist to test for spice items, especially mustard.

To my shock, I added garlic, sesame, mustard and dill to the allergy list. :scared1:

There are 15 lovely items that I have tested positive for.
Celery, tomatoes, green beans, peas, carrots
Sesame, dill, mustard and garlic
Peanuts, walnuts, pecans, almonds
Soy, cantaloupe

A nice salad and a heavy Italian meal could contain all of those items.

No wonder I have never really liked the after effects of Italian. It dosen't like me!!!!

I can and do eat most of these items ( When I was younger I would say i am allergic to vegetables and I was right! How many kids can say that? Too bad I had no proof) I just need to watch it and take Benadryl if needed and if it during allergy season I need to back off a bit.

*********************************************************

Now with my allergies under control- where should I spend my afternoon???

Those are some unusual allergies. Sorry you had a reaction to your salad, but good tip on the first aid station. Glad you were not affected to bad and were able to keep going. :)
