The Side effects of the AP-Trip#6 Oct 10 Final thoughts and some TMI

. Continuing the day’s theme of walking to parades, we encounter this right as we walk in.

For those nostalgic, here are some highlights. BTW these are from A’s camera.

We had a great view. We walked in on the left side and stood right
behind a double stroller. For the third time today we walked into a parade.
Now for night time castle pictures.

Now the park was much emptier. We conquered Adventureland. I think we only skipped the Treehouse. Yes we even did the Tiki room and the carpet ride.
Funny story about the Tiki room. We went in and sat right in the front row in the middle of the theater. At the end of the show the bird are telling us to get up so we can dance. Well it is way to get you up and out of the theater. So the animatronic birds are telling us to get up and dance and A is like “ Really- we have to dance?” I knew where this was going but really it had been so long since I have been in the Tiki room it took me a second to catch on. After they had us up on our feet, they gave us the boot, and opened the doors for us to exit and both girls laughed that they were suckered in like that.
We made our way around and knocked Frontierland out of the way. Splash was either under refurb or we just skipped it because it was cold.
Now back to Fantasyland- a very different Fantasy land from 1:30 that afternoon. We were able to knock everything out including PP.

We did do Dumbo but opted for pictures here.

Acting crazy

We ended our night with a horsey ride.
Amyspictures240.jpg

We walked the long walk down Main Street and out. We were leaving the next day but we did not get to do RnR. We talked and if we get up, pack up and get the car ready we could have a half day. They wanted to go for it.
So we are not done yet.
Next up – DHS in the morning and whatever else we can squeeze in.

YOu wild and crazy gals!! And might I say YOU ROCK! I am so going with you someday! THAT'S the way to tour a park!!! :thumbsup2 Well, except, I didn't see mention of Casey's corny dogs... but I can be kind with my rehab projects. I take trips as payment for my 12 day program. ;)

Wow, I am a few updates behind, but I am absolutely in awe at how much you did get to see on that day! What a whirlwind tour of WDW!! Well done! :thumbsup2

I love all your pictures, your ladies look like you had so much fun together. I really hope you will get to redo that trip at some time in the future. :goodvibes

Wow, you girls sure packed alot into that day!

Sounds like heading back to MK was a good move. Yippee for no crowds! :yay:

No Casey's corn doggies. I have had the regular dogs many times, but never the corn dog nuggets. :duck:

I will add to the "next time" list.

I was pretty pleased of how that day worked out.

It was good to feel that all the planning and all the trips made a trip during the busiest time quite nice.

That trip was one time where Pixie dust was in full swing. We got lucky numerous times and I was able to navigate the crowds pretty well.

We always have fun when we are together. I have travelled with B a few times in the last couple of years for Aquatics related events and I worked with A for a while at the same facility. We were all in Atlanta together in 2004 and I do remember some of it. Let's just say we had lots of fun on that trip too even though it wasn't Disney.

After the "go back to the room and rest" did not have the intended result, the commando just keep swimming and collapse at the end of the day worked better for us.

I am so glad we bailed and went back later. The girls were in awe that I predicted that right. The trip had some great pixie dust.

I miss Spectro. I love the music to it.

It is nice to have good friends that you can be yourself with.

Tiki Room is still down. That is something that Brooklynn decided she really liked on the last trip, so I hope they'll bring it back up and not just let it die out. Yes, it's cheesy, but it's a classic, and it has it's audience. It's also a cool sit-down place for a few minutes on a hot summer day.

Slowly but surely getting caught up. I didn't desert your report, just took a little time to "go green". Wasn't the slogan reduce, reuse recycle? Well, I'm recycling somebody's kidney, ....and well I don't know about reduce and reuse.... But I did throw in a repair after the initial surgery "sprung a leak".

Love all the photo pass pictures you all did. Hopefully our next trip I will feel better about being in the pictures, and will have the energy to get out of the scooter to do pictures. I am still planning on renting a scooter next trip, but am hoping I will be able to park it more often.

It looks like you all are having such a good time. I've only done family or solo trips....never just with friends. Looking forward to the rest of the adventures!

I have it playing inthe car. I just play the CD until i get kind of sick of it and then I pull out another one to suit my mood. A couple of days ago it was FOLK. :cutie:

They are the best friends. :goodvibes

I read somewhere the joke is that only Iago and Zazu were destroyed and it was the work of the Tiki Gods. I have not read about a cause of the fire but some rumors of it going back to the original script until they can replace Iago and Zazu.

The Tiki Birds has sentimental value for me since I remember it from early trips as a kid. It was unique then, now a bit outdated but a classic.

You gals sure look like you have a great time together. I love the "Dumbo" pics...one of my favorites (and definitely DH's favorite).

You have the best reason to be behind. :goodvibes So glad you are doing well and recovering nicely. I hope all your leaks are fixed and you are up and around soon.

We had a blast. Since my family for the most part does not "love" Disney they like it in really small doses. For me it it so much more than a theme park and resort. I can truly relax and be taken care of. I don't need to be waited on hand and foot but I can relax and really enjoy what the world has to offer. It is a familiar place yet I find new things every time. I escape the real world and can recharge. :goodvibes

That was pretty much at the of the night. We were probably beyond tired and giddy at an empty Fantasyland. Good times. :goodvibes

A & B look like kids on the Teacups and Dumbo. It looks like they were really enjoying themselves. I imagine that before the trip they had no idea that they'd have that much fun?

Shoot the 3 of us have fun running through the Piggly Wiggly looking for snacks.:rotfl2:

After all day of running around, and being at the end of the trip with long days and some sleep we were all slap happy and giddy ... but in a good way.:lmao:

It was the perfect way to spend our last night. We talk of going back often. Schedules and the pocketbook is what delays the next trip.

Sunday Jan 3 2010
The last day- the long trip home – But first we had some business to attend to. Up early again and time to pack up. I am thankful to have friends who are flexible and so easy to please this trip. I was nervous that it would be so crowded that it would miserable. It was lovely, crowded but I have been during Easter and I would rate it close in terms of crowds. Would also like to think that have learned a thing or two in the few years on the DIS and can avoid a crowd. We did manage to avoid some of the crowds and other than marveling at how we were NOT standing in those long lines, we did not feel the impact of the crowds at holiday time.

Another morning at CSR, another sunrise. 7:15 am.

CSRsunrise210310.jpg

We were packed up and moved the car close to the bus stop so we could make a quick get away when we return. Not sure why driving to the park never entered my head. :scratchin: I think I know why and it will reveal itself later.
We made it over to DHS before 9am . No TSM and I knew that. We all talked it over and the effort to ride TSM with an extra early and stressful arrival did not seem the thing to do. The girls rode ToT once and we did not have time to go again. They followed my style of riding, first time to get the feel of it and always ride a second time to enjoy it. They had not “enjoyed” it yet. They got the impact of the surprise of the ride but once more to really enjoy it instead of being worried about what was going to happen next. We also never rode RnR together . I knew they would like that.

So where do we go when the rope dropped? I knew we would have to FP one and ride the other. ToT can have a long line or no line but no single rider line. RnR has the single rider line. We headed to RnR with a FP stop at ToT first .

Amyspictures255.jpg

First thing in the morning Single rider line was not open so we jumped in the regular line. How long could it be? My only mistake of the trip. Our longest wait at 30 minutes. Yup, that was our longest wait the entire trip and it was on our last ½ day in the parks.

No biggie though. I will let the ride photo speak for itself.

DHSRnRallridephoto210310.jpg

Back in line since we had time until the ToT window opened. NOW the single rider line was open.

Now it was time to get dropped. First time was fun but….
The second time was better.

Okay goal accomplished. Now what??? It was 10 am and well we could go home. Naaaaaahh
We needed a snack, to Starring Rolls. A rather long, winding line and conversation about how ridiculous the traffic pattern is occupied us until we could capture our goodies and escape. Among the topics of discussion while in the long and winding line was what to do next. The discussion turned to AK.
So we grabbed our goodies and walked out to the bus stop. We ate while we waited. I think the girls felt a bit rushed but I knew if we did not get moving we would get to AK only to leave when we got there. We hopped on the bus and arrived at AK by 11am. Between the wait in Starring Rolls and the bus ride we lost an hour .

Much colder day than NYE.

With some lighting adjustment.

BRRRRRRRR
We got there and all ride times were too long. Now what? I had an idea. It was cold out so maybe the tigers were active. Off to the Maharajah Jungle Trek.

AkMajaTrailTigersign10310.jpg

I am proud to say I redeemed myself for the RnR standby line wait. We get to the first viewing area. As we step up to get a closer look, I see out of the corner of my eye a figure starting to throw something. I practically yelled out “ Oh No !”. I thought some other guest was throwing something into the tiger enclosure. :scared1:

When I finally turn in the direction of the where the object was thrown, coupled with the fact that nobody else seemed to be shocked or bothered by someone throwing something in the tiger enclosure I realized it was a CM.

The tigers were indeed up and about. They ventured into the water to get the food that was being thrown.

Amyspictures276.jpg

After watching for a while we watch this tiger. He thinks he has some privacy.

Amyspictures263.jpg

Now like most toddlers he checks to see if we can see him.

Amyspictures264.jpg

AKMajatrailTigerface10310.jpg

We walk on down to the next viewing area. The one that has glass.
On my way down I see the tigers and set up a shot. A young boy tween age runs down and practically knocks me out of the way. This is what happens.

AKMajaTrailTigerposelook210310.jpg

Such majestic creatures. Usually I get sleeping tigers. Now I know it needs to be 40 degrees for them to be active.
We wander our way out of the park and back to the bus stop. My thought on leaving the car there were if we park hopped it might be a pain to move the car.

Taking that last deep breath and we get in the car. We head out and head home about 1pm.

The ride home was uneventful. We stopped for gas ( for the car Glenn, Dan and Marv) and a meal at the same place we did on the way down. I drove and B kept me awake on the ride. I think I dropped them off at 10:30pm and I got home a little after 11 pm.

Now the question of the TR. This really was the start of the side effect of the annual pass. I had this pass that was good until Oct 16 2010. Of course I had to get the most of my pass. So there are more trips.

Do I start an new thread or since I have plenty of room here do we just get comfy and continue???

Awesome tiger pics. at the "special" pics of the tiger.

As for what to do for the next trip: if it ain't broke don't fix it!

Wow, what a wonderful trip to share with friends! Your TR really has encouraged me to not be too scared of crowded conditions at WDW. :thumbsup2

I always expected there to be more trips to come out of the AP and to be excluded in this TR! So I would say, please keep this TR going and just continue with trip #3. :goodvibes However, maybe for new readers it might be easier to join if you start a new thread? :confused3
