the show Mike and Molly...does this bother anyone else?

Yes she did, that is what got me watching this show. But I have to disagree. Jackson was an average looking chubby guy. I do think Melissa McCarthy is an attractive woman.

I agree with both things you said. The character of Jackson was a very kind and dedicated man, but he's not a hunk.

I think anyone can find anyone and such couples do exist (plus size couples where both are plus sized!).

I caught a couple of minutes of the show once (okay--just the promoted bits) and I opted to not watch it. The humor is too edgy for my liking. Weight humor doesn't bother me--but the other humor does.

Why oh why can't they make a show about two large sized people without THAT being the focus of most or all of the conversations?
They're fat. Big deal. Get over it and be a couple, not a FAT couple. Geez o'malley we get it, they're fat therefore just as all us fat folks are...they're ill adjusted, lonely, and completely unequipped to date not having ever done so before. LOL Talk about your stereotyping!

DH is enjoying the show. I find Molly to be a hyper sensitive poop and the whole still living at home with *mom* and sleeping together next to her sister and mothers room just strikes me as odd and more than a bit lame.

I always liked Swoozie Kurtz but dang......DH laughs at her jokes in this show but her comments go right over my head. I don't find her funny at ALL in this one.

Like I said, DH is enjoying the show...then again he'd watch paint dry if it were on during prime time. LOL

Hey Hollywood, I have an idea! Stop thinking fat woman can only find fat men.

Just once I would like a show that shows an obese woman with a totally hot husband! Kind of like the reverse of King of Queens. Fat Doug had hot Carrie.

Oh yeah, and I have been to a few OA meetings and EVERY PERSON in the room is NOT obese.

Thank you.

On Drop Dead Diva the main character, a female lawyer is large and her by might not be thin and sexy but he's not as big as her and it's a nice match

Though he just got a job in Washington and leaving :(

but their might be some sparks flying with another cute lawyer in her office how used to be her bf when she was a thin model until she was in a car accident, died and was brought back in the body of the lawyer - confusing if you don't watch it but a fun show if you do :)

I'm a good 75 pounds overweight right now and I have no problems attracting men when I want to. And contrary to what other posters have said, most of the men I attract are not overweight themselves.

I was miserable in high school and always thought to myself "you are too fat and no one will ever love you. Once I hit about 20 and said "**** it, I am what I am and guys are going to have to accept that" the men started to line up.

It is not the weight holding you back, it is the attitude. Attitude is not easy to change but once you do, things get much better.

THIS THIS THIS!!!!

When I was in my junior year of college I decided to stop hiding in my clothes and bought things that flattered my curves. I decided to stop hating myself and, frankly, they were lining up at my door! Now, 15 years later, I have been with my husband for 13 years. We met on a blind date. I later found out, from him, that when he approached me he didn't realize I was his date! He thought I was hot and was trying to get my number before his "date" got there!!! My husband, by the way, is no mud fence! When we met, he was 6'3" and about 225 with a shaved head and a goatee - he was wearing a black biker jacket and the what had to be the hottest jeans I have ever seen a man wear! Mmmmm... just thinking about it makes me hope the day goes by a little bit faster... :3dglasses

As far as real life is concerned - yes, there are men who prefer a more Rubinesque figure. As my dh tells me, men can't help it, it's evolution; hips and breasts get the job done!!! The show features two people who are heavy. Big deal! I think the male lead (sorry, don't remember his name) is good looking, but I don't like small men. Personally, I like a big guy!

On the show Reba, the character Barbara Jean was heavier in the early seasons and had a slim, good looking dentist for a husband. She did eventually lose weight, but that was due to the actress' personal interest in getting healthier.

I've never watched Drop Dead Diva but I'm pretty sure that main character is overweight and has a slim boyfriend.

On Ugly Betty, Betty is on the heavier side and dates a few different slim guys. I haven't watched it in a while but I can remember Henry for sure.

On Grey's Anatomy, Callie is bigger and dated/ married George, and he was slimmer than her.

I'm not saying you are wrong, just thinking of some instances that pop into my mind of the reversal. However, fat guy-slim wife has been around since the Honeymooners and and the Flintstones so you definitely see it more!

i dont know maybe it's all those old fat producers who see themselves with the thin pretty girl and if they can't have it in real life then they produce shows that give bigger men hope that they can get the model.

and it does happen in real live - both sexes just tv almost never (few exceptions) show reality.

the average size, age, job description, wage, house, lifestyle is so out of wack on tv. if real live were like that there wouldn't be welfare, unemployment, bad children, bad neighbours, horrible crime (well unless you watch all those crime shows :) - then it's the murder capital of the world lol) or any prople that can't be overcome with hot chocolate, cookies 30 minutes and a father who knows exactly what to say and how to say it.

If it bothers you, you can always not watch it. I never even heard of the show until this thread. :confused3
