This trip we decided to eat at the Celebration Town Tavern--we also wanted our friends who were with us to get a look at the town. So, after looking at directions printed on some material in our room, off we went.
I got the Santa Fe on I-4/192 as directed and was driving merrily along. But at some point, the "192" part of the road signs disappeared, leaving only the I-4 E to follow!! Oh well-it was East and that was the direction I planned to go. How hard could it be??
When I saw the buildings of downtown Orlando, I knew I was lost. The "backseat drivers" were also weighing in with quips such as " Ever hear of a map"? And "Why didn't you ask someone before we left"? etc etc.
So I pulled off on to the John Young Parkway and found a 7-Eleven store. I walked in and said to the clerk--"Hi!! I need some help. I'm trying to find Celebration".
In a perfect Jamacian accent he replied-" Mon--you are a LONG way from der!"
Which of course I already knew.
Turned out he had no idea how to get there either, nor did two customers who happened to join our conversation. Fortunately, one of the customers called his wife on a cell phone and got directions--follow I4 West until you see the sign that says 'Celebration".
Sounded too good to be true--but there it was!!
