I just came home from my trip to WDW and all I have to say is NEVER AGAIN at this time of year. After what happened last night....

Was anybody on Main St last night during the first run of the Spectomagic parade? It was just started and myself, DH and DS (6 yrs old) were going to try to get to space mountain to get 1 ride in. We hadn't gotten on it all week. So we start making our way down the sidewalk of Main St and everything is going smooth...they have the area roped off so people could walk...

Then....somebody up ahead decides to stop and watch the parade. So, this stops the mass of people from moving forward also. The crowd stops dead...shoulder to shoulder, maybe 2 inches of free breathing room around each other....my son starts getting scared...then...the crowd starts to push from behind. There is no where to go. I start yelling STOP PUSHING!!!! I HAVE A SMALL CHILD HERE!! and nobody cares! They just keep pushing...and I'm trying to keep standing (keep in mind I'm pooh sized) and protect my son. I start getting more and more aggitated and meaner and well to be honest...more free flowing with my language. I would hope Mickey was covering his ears....but the castmembers weren't doing anything but yelling at us to keep moving. I was yelling back we have NO WHERE TO GO! and these people won't stop pushing forward!! My son is terrified he's going to be smooshed. There was a younger female castmember i was screaming help to and she didn't know what to do so she left the area! Then there was an older guy and he just started yelling at us to keep moving. I was very mean yelling back to him "where the **** are we suppose to move? My son is getting squashed here! we need help! I need to get him out of here before he gets killed!" so what does this guy do? pushes his way past me forcefully almost knocking me down again....I get into a screaming match with a woman with a stroller and 2 kids in it. She said I must get through. I said we all are trying to get through. At least your children are protected by the stroller. Her husband starts pushing the stroller through like he was going to plow right through me. I said I'm sorry sir, but to be honest, I don't give a **** about you or your kids getting through when I'm trying to protect my son here! While all this is going on DH was ahead of us in the crowd unable to help us.

Long story not so long....The parade let up, we got out onto the street. Not before I got kicked in the back of an already bad leg and had to hobble to first aid. When I got there, I broke down crying my eyes out I was so upset and exhausted. This was our last night here afterall. I couldn't stop crying. I got ice and ibuprofin for my leg. I told DH to take DS to ride on something I would stay nearby and wait. I was in the crowd and it was freaking me out so bad I couldn't move. I was like a deer in the headlights. DH came right back and said it wasn't worth it because of the crowd. We went up to city hall where he went in to complain about the incident. A manager offered to take us to our hotel so we wouldn't have to ride the monorail and walk through the parking lot. I said no, just a trip to the car would be fine.

He was very nice. He said his name was Pablo (even though his name tag said Bob LOL). He kept asking if I was going to be ok. Yes, after I calmed down...my leg was hurting like a you know what and I figured I'd have a hard time moving it today but it's just a little sore.

So if anybody saw a crying Pooh sized woman wearing a high school musical t shirt on main street...that was me. I'm not proud of what i was yelling and saying but you know what....I was protecting my son and I'd do it again in a second.

I'm sorry this happened to you. You said you couldn't move at all. But did you try to go into the store?

Couldn't get over to the closest one. There was a poor woman watching through the window, she couldn't believe her eyes.

Before it got that bad, we actually ducked through a couple of the stores but then weaved back into the mess before it got tangled.

Sorry to hear about that - definitely could see that happening. It was super crowded at the Magic Kingdom when we went. Thinking cause it's the oldest park, so it wasn't built to handle the large crowds/disperse them as efficiently and the parade funnels everyone down one path (Castle down Main to Exit) resulting in a log-jam. It's important to try to stick together if possible and move as a block down Main Street when it's busy like that (since probably Dad is the bigger sized person in the family). When we were there we positioned ourselves near the gate so we could exit immediately upon completion of the parade. Lots of stuff happens that probably isn't reported - for example, while we were at Epcot we saw a fire break out at the Illuminations (we were at the Innovations area getting autographs and photos), loud sounds, lots of fire works, it was a bit out of control and large flames everywhere - raging flames with out of control fireworks (not timed), and the fireworks show suddenly stopped after a large burst of them and then a large fire (ran out to see with the crowd when heard them - "hey there's fireworks" then we and crowd then ran back inside ("something's wrong")- could feel the heat. But, after a while, the fire stopped and everything stopped for a while (dark and no music). Then, the show re-started, probably after they put the fire out, and the rest was orderly. Guessing probably they have fire trucks & water on-hand to address the situation quickly. Buzz Lightyear ride malfunctioned and we were stuck in the ride for a while, also at DS, the TV in the backlot tour never came on - but the MC kept on talking as if we were watching something on the screen. For us, it was less magical as parents to try to keep it all happening for the kids, than when we were young and it all was just served to us on a platter. Glad you were safe and don't worry about Mickey's ears (just glad you and DS were okay).
