Pluto:
It is rare that I disagree strongly with posters on this board but in this case I do. We have gone to the Sagamore for Thanksgiving (Wed. thru Sun) every year for the past five. We have four kids, ages 6, 8, 12 and 13 who have always been with us there. They have a wonderful time and are treated well.
They have tons of childrens activities. Call ahead and ask about what they have planned for the period you are looking at. When we have gone, they have had gingerbread house making with the chefs for the entire familily, scavenger hunts, horseback riding at a near-by ranch, night time charades and other family games, rock climbing on an indoor wall, indoor tennis and outdoor miniature golf. They have a great indoor heated pool and of course are on Lake George. If you are going in the summer, head down to Saratoga for the best horse racing in the world. (Saratoga is also kid friendly).
The people are wonderful with kids. There is one restaurant where children under 7 are not allowed, the Trillium, but in all others they are welcome. Is the Sagamore top of the line, yes. Are they nice to kids, yes without a doubt and they make sure there is plenty for them to do. We have a problem with non kid friendly places. The Sagamore is not one of them. That is why we keep going back.
