For yucks, I went to one of the tour companies supposedly handling US participants…..I was put in a queue just to get into the web site…..so very Disney. They had packages left—pretty spendy, but there were like 3 hotels. Marathon tours was sold out. Seems like it’s a $4-5k outlay minimum. And more if you’re a single runner.

There is a company based in the UK that was doing packages for the WDW marathon. The entry fee is £200 and you have to pair it with a minimum 4 night stay at a Disney property with the cheapest being POR. Cost for 4 nights for 2 guests was £1950 !!.

Any fleeting thoughts I had about trying to convince DW to take a short trip were quickly dismissed

In my mind, the travel packages are like the Disney dining plan... It isn't a deal, but a convenience. Sure, on your own budget you might choose a different hotel, or may not pay for some of the tours, but you're getting access to the race itself and often extras like chartered transportation to and from the expo and the race, pre and post race meals and group shakeouts, etc. You might find yourself clearing out the gift shop of rice krispy bars as you wait for your Uber to the airport, but you mostly got your money's worth.

Well the heat dome hit us today. It was 80 degrees when I ran at 6:00 this morning I went for 8 instead of 12 but with slowing it down, it went ok! Rinse and repeat tomorrow.

Now imagine it’s like that EVERY DAY… UNENDING HEAT… FOR SIX STRAIGHT MONTHS!!! And that’s central Florida. It stormed a hit after my morning run today and when I went out afterward, I got a little chill because the rain cooled it down so much. It was 85°.

In all seriousness though, be careful with the heat up there!

Yes, that's hotter than here in Central Texas at the moment. I ran 6 miles this morning just after the 6:30 sunrise, and it was 76º with 85% RH (for a T+D of 148). Not terrible for this time of year here.

I ended up running laps around my street and the main street in my neighborhood because my street has shade in the morning. Thankfully I was outside running at 6:30 and I only saw one neighbor. I did 3 miles and called it a day. 10k training starts July 1 and I feel ready to go.

It's 8:42 pm and we're sitting at a T+D of 164 (89+75). At least we're only stuck with it for 2 days before the rain returns.
