The Running Thread --2025

NOT runDisney related technically but as some of you know Nintendo Switch 2 preorders went live last night and I got the full RD experience trying to get it from Best Buy:

- they were late in starting
- in the meantime i tried to get it from Walmart but got blocked by my credit card flagging it as fraud
- Best Buy goes live at 12:30 am
- I wait about 45 minutes and the queue glitched out and punted me back to the main product page
- Jumped back in and 20 min later same thing happened (at this point i'm getting t-shirt selection flashbacks)
- Jumped back in *again*, punted and console is listed as sold out

Let's try it again today! 😵‍💫

I second the novablasts. I started wearing them this last training cycle for tempo and pace runs and love them.

ditto on the Novablast 5's. They were a lifesaver for my joints. I have regular width, but they do feel like there is more room in the toe box, which I like. I have tried on various styles of Hoka's and they just never felt right.

DH and I have decided that it might be a good idea to invest in a treadmill. Anyone have a recommendation or a good strategy for researching options that won't break the bank?

We got a NordicTrack about 3 years ago. It gets daily use. My husband and I both mainly run on the treadmill due to have small children. We did get a deal by haggling with the salespeople. I accidentally hit submit on an order and called to cancel. They happily canceled it for me and then emailed me with deals. I think we were able to get free delivery/set up and a free year of iFIT. We did buy the extended service package and it was worth it to us. We have had a few issues (broken board and ripped tread) and they have replaced everything without any hassle. We will probably order another when this one outruns its life.

I replaced my 25+ year old ProForm last June and did a lot of research prior to making a decision. I wanted to spend the least amount of money on something with the least high tech features that could break and disable it, that would suit my fairly limited needs - I’m not a daily treadmill user, and I’m pretty tiny, so I don’t need anything industrial strength.

I found some great review and comparison compilations by Googling and narrowed it down to two Xterra models. I wound up going for the bare-bones WS300 WalkSlim TR150 model because it had what I wanted, but nothing extra, and fits nicely into a compact space. I’ve been really happy with it so far - as happy as I can be with any treadmill, anyway! It’s shocking each run/walk how quiet its motor is compared to my previous one. I don’t know if one treadmill can speak for the entire brand, but what I bought is sturdy and gets the job done: I’d definitely consider Xterra again.

I run on a treadmill 90% of the time and love my Proform. I got it at an outlet four or five years ago, as it was the previous year's model. It does have iFit (which I love) but the smaller screen, and I mounted a small TV on the wall above it. We even moved it across the country with us and went through the hassle of disassembling and reassembling.

Just an FYI post for any running friends who love Oiselle but don't love the prices (lol). I just recently learned that TJ Maxx and Sierra (their sports focused store) now sell Oiselle on their websites and it's drastically reduced. I am a HUGE fan of the Oiselle Roga shorts because the back zip pocket is amazing for holding my phone and the quality/comfort is fabulous. I get excited when I buy the shorts for $35-$40 during Oiselle sales--well, Sierra and TJs were selling them for $12.99!!! 🤯 And their high impact sports bras are also terrific.

Happy Friday DIS peeps and cheers to some good weekend miles. 🤗💜
