So last weekend I went and got fitted for new (stability) shoes as part of my ITB recovery. Decided to give them a whirl during the week. The lack of cushioning is going to take some getting used to, but I was able to do about 4kms pain free in them, which was great. I had a little discomfort in the final kilometer of my 5km run, so had a few walk breaks - so it was a slow 5km. Back to the physio is 2 weeks, and have a race that same weekend (it has a nice long cut off time, so I can walk if I do start to feel any pain). Going to need to make a call after that about whether I do just wine and dine and scrap Avengers, or do both.
Has anyone that has had IT Band troubles had any success with using intervals as a way to keep your conditioning but not aggravating the injury further? I find if I stop and walk for a bit then there is less chance of pain when I started running again, but there seems to be limit on the running I can do in one hit at the moment.
