Totally jealous of the Star Wars bling!!!
Thanks that's a pretty valid fear. About 100 people ran this race (yeah it's pretty much like Disney) Of those there were 10 DNF's, 3 of which were due to broken ankles.I am afraid to try a trail race at all. I am afraid to get injured on some roots or a rock or something. Congrats on your accomplishment!
.
ThanksCongrats on completing an ultra!
QOTD: Does your clothing choice differ for racing and training? i.e. Do you always race in shorts, yet dress more for the elements on training runs? Do you choose something less worn out because there are thousands of strangers in view?
ATTQOTD: Yes my choices are different. For a weekend long run I will just run in any running shirt I have, but on race day I normally run in a singlet. I do a few training runs in a singlet, just to make sure there isn't any issues. I have never ran with any sort of long pants, because it just doesn't cold enough for me to do so here.
ATTQOTD: For races I like to match and wear my most favorite/comfy outfit for the weather. I love running in costume as long as it's functional and appropriate, like Disney. My weekday runs however are mostly in the early morning darkness so anything goes. One might say I even look a bit Punky Brewster-ish (ok, I may be dating myself here)!

In 6 days and several hours our fellow poster @CheapRunnerMike is going to participate in the Boston Marathon. Being that this particular race is a bucket list / goal marathon for a lot of folks and a race that I pay a lot of attention to, I decided to make the days leading up to Marathon Monday about the marathon itself. (We will still have our normal QOTD, but I will also include additional info about the marathon. After all, its the super bowl of marathon IMO) The work required to get a BQ is no easy task, and for those who went the charity route, well raising $5,000+ is a equal challenge as well. On your way to toe the line, you get to see this sign. Its one of those moments when you see and it you realize, Im about to run the Boston Marathon.

Staging along the finish route has begun to go up as well. DH works in the area.
I love being able to wear completely wacky things when I am out running. Colours can clash and I can wear turqouise leopard print leggings if I so wish (my pupils have used it as a way to recognise it's their teacher running). I do love wearing long sleeves so I can put my thumbs through the holes however as the weather is warming up it is becoming more sweaty to run in long sleeves (22 degrees celsius today).
Got heckled today by a guy driving past. First time it has happened to me and it just made me so angry. I know I don't look like a runner and sometimes (probably most of the time) I am not pretty when I run. I am kinda glad it happened 8 weeks after I started running as I could see it really knocking my confidence if I had only just started. I managed to run for 15 minutes today without stopping which is my achievement of the day.
I get heckled a few times a year too, usually references to my running tights and the individual's interpretation of my sexual orientation. Being heckled is initiation into the running tribe, so welcome to the club!Got heckled today by a guy driving past. First time it has happened to me and it just made me so angry. You run in one high top and one low top with a bandana tied around one of your legs too? Phew I was worried I was the only one.

We have a large group of forum members running at least one of the Disney races this weekend. I saw the medals for the first time and have to say I am jealous! Looks like yall are going to have better weather for the weekend than we had for marathon weekend!

Good luck to all!
For a race, I pick from the same pile as my training gear, but I do usually pick a favorite at the time, and I always wear as little as possible during a race because I know I will heat up once the race starts. On cold/cooler race days, this usually means that I will be slightly uncomfortable as I wait for the start but fine after the first half mile or so. I do hate being cold, so it can be a very fine line. For training runs, I wear whatever is appropriate such that I am comfortable given the weather conditions. Also, like @CheapRunnerMike, regardless of what I am wearing on the rest of my body, I oftentimes have gloves on if it's 40°F or less. My hands must have horrible circulation.
Random: I just ate my W&D cheese packet with the Harvest Snaps snap pea crisps I got at the expo. The cheese was not as life changing as I was led to believe it would be... but the Harvest Snaps were actually really tasty!

This one never gets old!Did someone say heckling?
I'm not sure if I'll ever run a full, but if I do, this is on the bucket list. Good luck to everyone! I wish they showed it on TV nationwide!
